If you ever come back and read this comment give the viewers some place to visit to see what you have done. This is unique and lots would like to see how it is done or how you did it. I know they come out with the body mold for a rear end set up but Dodge engineers would not tell me what their set up was. How about you?
@SheSoTalented216 hahaha you saying yours can beat his in a race? If so, yeah, it probably can, that poor 318 is flat wore out... If you're wondering if we want to do the swap for you, that could be done too.
I'm actually just about ready to drop a 5.2 Magnum and a 46RH in an identical car to this one. I'm gonna see if the truck computer will run the car dash. If not then no big deal, I'll just build a custom one.
HELL NAW im not sayin itll beat u in a race lmao the acceleration sucks so bad i think a cat could beat me in a race lol..im just sayin for an old ass car its runs pretty good and i know with some work itd be bad ass...
i need some front end work done before ANYTHING though...
Ok so some custom motor mounts, custom rear end suspension, 318 5.2L V8 with a 3 speed tranny from a 68 fury.
Knowing how this kinda works out I bet you guys had to relocate the fuel tank to the trunk. Did you custom build a drive shaft for this as well? What about the cooling system? using a different radiator and higher rated fans?
@TCPMeta We're not worried about the car's cooling system keeping up. The 318 was rated for 185hp which is less than the 2.7, 3.2, or 3.5 offered in the car. Not to mention the aluminum heads on the cars require bigger cooling systems than the older iron head V8 engines (since aluminum transfers heat better). I feel safe dropping a mildly modified 5.2 Magnum in the car I'm building (stock is 230hp this one should be about 260-275hp) Might even try it with the 500+rwhp 360 coming later...
@TCPMeta The car cooling system was designed to cool engines with more than 185hp and aluminum heads... We weren't worried about that. I feel safe dropping in a mildly modified 5.2 Magnum in the one I'm working on (should be 260-275bhp)... In fact I plan to drop in a 550+hp 360 later that will probably use the stock radiator/fans, but I'll probably use Evans waterless coolant (cools better than antifreeze).
Wow.... you converted it to RWD???? This is sweet, man. What kind of motor does it have? The base 2.7? Either way the Intrepids should've come RWD in the first place!!
Didn't cost us much... We had the axle and the driveshaft components laying around. That and we have a friend that owns a junkyard so we got the engine and trans cheap just to try this.
You want it done? Bring us your car, an engine/trans and a rear end and we'll do it for you...
Yep, just a plain jane 8 3/4 chrysler live axle. Used the stock strut mounts with custom springs and struts. Also fabbed up a 4-link, but leaf springs are also VERY doable and would work great with traction bars.
We had most of the parts laying around and we were pretty much given the car so we could try it... But it wouldn't cost much if you brought us the car, a drivetrain, and told us how you wanted the suspension set up (coils and struts with 4-link, or leafs with traction bars).
how hard could it be to do this??

This is awesome! If you ever do another build, you should do a cummins in one of these. For shits-n-giggles.
