  • double hits?

  • it was like a croquet moon shot lol, thats why the 3 pin stayed up.. that was rather unfortunate.

  • new pins i would bet

  • Cé ça! Pourquoi les autres sont tombées?

  • Unlucky pin action that's all I can say

  • little high dont fricken matter.. he nailed the shit out of the pocket. i can say ive never seen that before in my life. but the pins just rubbed the wrong way and left you with this. good ball.

  • That alone has to be one of the worst breaks in bowling. Solid 7's, 10's, 4's, 5's, 8's, and 9's all reasoning to their leave, but a 3 pin? The ball enters the pocket for a right no matter how high or light, a 3 pin should NEVER be left standing.

Amazing you taped this too. I can see i your body language on the approach as you saw that leave. LOL

  • Oh yea I did that before, was shooting a jackpot strike. Left that AND the 8 pin. I thought I had crushed the pocket. Lost a chance to win over $200.

  • it was a little high but still a good ball

  • Well it just looked like a little bit too much head pin. But you're still much better than I am. I only average at 150. Nice game!

  • the last ball looked a little high on the head pin plus the lack of sufficient pin action through the whole set allowed the single pin to remain standing. tough break but it happens to us all. i had 9 in a row once and left a 6-7 split and opened in the tenth frame. it happens to us all.

  • I went to state tournament in California about 15 years ago and I don't know what they did to the pin decks, but people were having pins sliding around all day. Sliding and standing up. Like solid 8 pins that would slide to the 7 position and stay there. Stuff like that. There were some upset people that day. Nothing quite as bad as this though. Damn.

  • The ball was high as you know. If you watch the video again. The same thing could have happened 2 other times also.

The 3 pin wasn't hit very hard and that 3 pound 6 pin just stopped it. Hmm

  • I've done this once in my whole life. I shot 284 with front 10, then 2-8-10, whiff, then the next game went front 5, 9 /, double, stone 3 pin /, strike, spare for 230+. It prevented me from having 540 at the turn.

  • Man, hitting a high pocket and leaving a 6 is one thing, but hitting high pocket and leaving a 3 that slides and stands into the 6 position is a whole other level of "ARE YOU JOKING?"

  • My guess is that the 2-pin slid to the 3-pins spot.

  • When the 3,6 where headed in to the side at the 10, the 6 pin kept it upright. Straight up hosed.

  • I've left several pocket 6 pins over the last 15 years (some wiggling and some not), but never saw a 3 pin not go down on a real solid hit. But I always wondered if a 3 pin could stand on a solid hit -- and this video answers that question. I left a stone 7-9 split one time, and I think Mike Aulby (left hander) left a stone 8-10 split on TV one time -- I'm sure he was shocked.

  • Last Saturday I had a stone 6-7 split during pre-league practice...I remember having seen this video before, so I'm certain that my 6 was originally a 3 that just replaced the 6, otherwise a pocket 7 pin which happens to me often enough. (See my videos to see how I deliver the ball)

  • That was way high

  • 0:50

  • well having worked in the bowling business for a long time the only thing i could boil it down to......dirty pin decks bud, good shots tho.

  • Swinging the ball out isn't always the best option, practice on throwing more direct and towards the break point instead of swinging it so far out...but just a suggestion I hope your game continues to improve. Your game looks very solid except you drift left in your approach, but maybe that was due to the lanes at that time.

  • Go back to polyester and this shit won't happen.

  • You hit the head pin a little more direct than straight into the pocket.. But it's okay. You still got 9

  • To me it looked like the 3 pin hit the 6 pin and just stayed up, I don't know, It was a good pocket hit as far as I could see. Glad you got it on video.

  • @ThUrsDAys if its not a sport then why would it be on ESPN which is a SPORT channel

  • very nice movement on that ball

  • That is why this is a game, not a sport! I had front 8 and then did this exact shot... I think I will start recording my games just to have proof of the crazy shots that happen in bowling.

  • I just had a similar tap. The four pin got smacked by another pin, but instead of falling, it scooted over about a foot.

  • @dw300 i've seen 7-10s left from balls like that bro. I agree tho it was a perfect ball...

  • Mute button.....We meet again.

  • Another pin propped it up. This is why I gave up bowling.

  • clearly... dont buy this ball.

  • that ball was a little high

  • @zachhearing Chicks dig trip 4s. ; )

  • How many mph is that? It looks like only 13-14mph sorry if I'm wrong.

  • @BlazeX43 I had to soften up the speed as the cover didn't quite have enough surface for the volume of oil, i suspect its about 15.5-16mph. Time the shot from foul line to headpin and divide the value in seconds into 40.5, IIRC, to get the average speed.

  • @dw300 Another thing I noticed in your shot- you are walking left. Try to walk straighter.

  • @dw300 Really? Im 12 years old and on average i throw a 19 mph ball.

  • I did that two times IN A ROW! today! :'O

  • that's what you get for hittin high ha

  • The messenger stood it back up. Bummer dude. That's the first time I've seen that.

  • just bad luck man haha. if you watch the 6 pin actually keeps the 3 upright. its like leaving a pocket 5 just different pins..... this is way more uncommon though.

  • *CRASH!!*

    3-pin: "Hellooo."

    Me: Dammit!

  • I have a question, what should I do when the lanes are have way to much oil no matter how many times i try it won't hook in the pocket? Any suggestions on where I should move or throw it?

  • @MilitaryWarrior28 Move your breakpoint towards the center of the lane. Kegel suggest ((length of pattern) - 31) = breakpoint, so on a 35ft pattern you should hook it from 4, but on a 44 you should be in close to 13 to avoid the out of bounds. Use more surface and solid covers on the fresh, then move to strong pearls when the shot breaks down and you have to loft the gutter.

  • Very nice suggestion. However, I'd like to supplement on one point. The formula you used (length of pattern -31 feet) actually gives you the EXIT POINT, which is the board number on which the ball should LEAVE THE END OF AN OIL PATTERN. It does not denote the breakpoint. Although the two points may be close in some situations, bowlers with different styles may share the same exit point but very different break points.

  • @tinkst300 Yes you are right, this is true. The more walled up the shot, the bigger the difference will probably be between breakpoint and exit point on the longer patterns. On the flatter patterns I try to stay inside of the exit point anyway to be on the safe side, which means they're usually pretty much the same board (give or take the area youre playing with) anyway. =)

  • thats so gay

  • wtf?omfg how the fuck?

  • Mute button! We meet again...

  • i've done that, but it ended up in the 9 spot

  • @devin090891 rude and brave...................................those comments happen when people are frustrated with their poor and sad life. hang in there looser!

  • how did the messenger pin not pick that up lol... you changed your boards up after the 3rd or 4th throw... wider hooks are more common to leave that... trust me i know lmao

  • @SonsofAnarchy35 Roger that .. and as they always say, straighter is (was) greater. Just moved inside for the ladies .. chicks dig the big wheel ..

  • @dw300 hahah no doubt.. bowled a 170, 232, 228 tonight in league... threw 12 in a row but they came the last 6 of my first game and first 6 of my second lmao 12 in arow is 12 in a row haha great angle on the video btw

  • @dw300 these lanes look like the ones at camelanes in gillette

  • it didnt fall because you didnt hit it 9 degrees off its axis lol

  • Nice way to paralyze the 3 pin...

    3 Pin to 6 Pin...Get outta here...My spot...

  • the 9th shot

  • If i ever left that off of a string i think i would break something. i used to think a ringing 10 and solid 8 were the worst leaves on a perfect shot. i stand corrected.

  • well if any one saw the pin was falling then a pin off the side wall knocked it back up it just hit enough so it wouldnt fall. good bowling though.

  • thumbs down for using a cliche song

  • @TidalKnight Maybe I should change it .. you think I blew my Oscar chances? Haters gona hate.

  • Comment removed

  • lol 0:51 he standing there like WTF!?

  • This guy missed because the pin did not have sufficient enough tilt to fall down. Bowling pins need at least a 7.5 degrees against them to go TIMBER!

  • Someone didn't have his wheaties.

  • I want to do this with the front 11.

  • wow.. lol that would suck and i dont have a answer for it

  • Haha the 3 shoots over into the 6 pin and sends it flying into the gutter but the contact stands the 3 right back up, crazy stuff.

  • 0:45 for the effing 3 pin leave

  • you left it because you have too much angel on the ball. play straighter and you'll carry more pins. i promise.

  • the 3 pin stand because the messenger hit it to the back when it was go to get down as you have see the pin was spin around and with the hit of messenger go back to the place

  • looks like some oil carried down onto the pin deck lol.. I once had the 5 pin slide over to the 8 pin spot.

  • I've did it, done it.

  • I would have been PISSED if that was for the 12th strike!

  • @offspringmadboy and who wouldn't be... :P

  • High flush, should carry 99 out of 100 times or more, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. It's the beauty and the tragedy of the game.

  • @shad0h027 So, should leave it once every 8 games or so? Lol, i know its a figure of speech btw. But it got me thinking how many strike shots i've thrown in 15 years bowling and only left this once .. wouldn't be far off a 1 in a million leave ..

  • @dw300 Not really... every 8 games would be assuming 8 games with high flush pocket shots on every single ball, somebody might be that good but I know I'm not :) The other day practicing, I had the front 7, on the 8th shot I had what looked like my best high-flush shot but after the shrapnel cleared the 7-pin was still standing there (I'm righty). Weird, but that 3 pin was 100x more weird (ya know, plus or minus LOL)

  • @shad0h027 Good point about the statistics. That shot in the video felt very much like the best of the shots I threw right enough! =)

  • @dw300 yeah I'm only 17 and have been bowling for about 5 years... by no means amazing but i know how rare it is. Some times just the way the pins scatter two knock into the 3 from opposite directions at the same time.... sucks

  • @dw300 I mean the ball and a pin hit the 3 pin in opposite directions

  • looked like you struck the head pin a little high..

  • The pin knows you have a hard time picking up spares.

  • There is an easy equasion why this happened. If a= the center of balance, and b= the lane, than a does not equal b. B is its own character in this shot.

  • @thepipeman12345 R u a wizz0rd?

  • @thepipeman12345 lolz so wen i go to algebra 1 class today. ill remember why i should learn the stuff i'm being tought. to tell the chances of a pin robbin someone.

  • It looks like your shot does it a lot. In your video, check out your 2nd and 5th shot, the three pin almost stands in both of those as well. I'm guessing a dirty lane at the rack

  • nice whats your highest score?

  • @graciep08 300 - 796. No 800. =(

  • @dw300 i jus shot 796 sunday fuckin blows but ive already got 3 800's so it wasnt that big of a deal to me lol still a pisser though

  • The 3 pin slid into the 6 pin and the 6 pin kept the 3 pin upright. I've seen this before in a league I bowl in.....lot of pin action going on in the pit with these new hard hitting balls that are on the market today........

  • Hahahaha, 3 pin xD

But the other shots were nice :)

  • @StarstrukkBW Nope, didnt see that, will look out for it on youtube!

  • you werent in the 1-3 pocket

  • Well, actually, the 3 pin wanted to stay standing so instead of falling down, it took the 6 pin's spot.

  • it almost happens on the 2nd and 5th shots as well. some 3 pins were just born to twirl, i guess.

  • agreed with kenco12....i left one two weeks ago and i swear i always stare at the pocket now after that s*it...don't think there can be a worse break than that...and YES @ devin if u knew bowling u would know it's the PIN that originally moved NOT where it ends up dummy

  • it looks like you were just very unlucky with that one but i wouldnt know if it was from a small form mess up due to not seein the upper half and you throw alot like my friend who used nothin but the coverstock and every ball does the same thing yet he still thinks he needs different ones lol

  • Definetely the worst break in bowling. Pocket 3 pin

  • Physics works in mysterious ways sometimes. The 3 on its way back gets hit from behind by the 6 and the 5 as the ball passes off to the left and sends it onto a spin. Because the pin looks new, the bottom is in good shape and is able to withstand the spin velocity until it rebalances itself and pisses the bowler off something big time! :)

  • I get tapped like that everynight. That's why I only avg 230. 236 right now.

  • I've done worse than that, I left a pocket 3-7, with the stone 3 pin and the solid 7 pin at the same time, lol, just too good of a shot.

  • The more extreme the angle to the pocket the more likely you'll get "lucky" strikes you don't really deserve but you'll also end up with weird taps like the 3 pin as well. I'm left handed and like most leftys throw a big hook like yours and more than once I had a flush pocket hit with all 10 pins in the pit then one bounced out and stood up again. That's the breaks. For today's easy cheese cake conditons which have ruined the game in my opinion, 17.5 mph is too slow. Get up to 19 mph, less angle

  • You did hit a little high in the pocket so thats probably why. But that does suck!

  • You almost left a 3 pin at 0:12!

  • that sucks dude

  • Very nice! I'm a spinner Bowler so I can't really tell of one thing about hook bowlers, was that sideroll or forward? HAHA Sorry.. Just can't tell.

I must say, you have a very nice release along with consistency :) Bad luck on that pin 3 though :)

  • you get a great amount of hand on the ball. whats the ball speed? it might benifit you if you try to speed it up just a little bit.

    Looks really good though

  • @KB24ts6 balls speed is 17.5mph average for the 60ft. Id like to speed up, but i dont really get the chance to practice much anymore. Thanks for the view and comment tho. =)

  • @dw300 the way i speed mine up is just gettin a higher back swing

  • WHAT?!

  • LMAO..... Welcome to my world dude

  • i was on the verge of a 300 and this happened on my 12th shot..i bowl for my high school and it was the last meet..it was heart breaking

  • ahh..the wonderful sport of bowling. this is why it stays interesting.

  • @ShadesVA2FL howdy shades

  • Wow. i didn't even think a pocket 3 pin leave was possible. If I did that on my 12th shot for 300 id probably stomp the floor and cry.

  • You sound like a real winner.

  • Hahahahaha. What a terrible break

  • but minus that awful break, you are really good

  • Heh, that would crush me if it had have been for 300.

  • imagine that was your shot for a 300 game

  • Ringing 3-pin for the win! That alone gets this video a 5-star rating, haha.

  • Pocket 3 pin!

  • @dw300 thats a 6 pin dumb shit

  • @devin090891 You mad you just made yourself look like an idiot there?

  • @dw300 yea dude the 3 pin slid over to the 6 pin slot "dumb shit"

  • @IkEcC101 how is he the dumb shit, he is the one who posted this video and in the title says it is the 3 pin, I am guessing your have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @devin090891 @dw300 That was so pin 3.. It just moved to the pin 6 position..

  • @devin090891 thats a 3 pin not 6

  • @devin090891 no YOU are the dumb shit... watch 2 pins get kicked off the back right edge of the deck into the gutter.... those would be the 6 and 10 pins... which means the pin standing would be the 3... idiot

  • @devin090891 or....... if you look closely it WAS the three pin

  • @devin090891 it was a 3 pin, slid into 6 pin position...

  • @devin090891 fail
