  • whatis going on with this song. They have changed, slowed, and butchered it. Sounds like a comedy spoof!

  • I saw these guys the other night and had to leave it was so bad.....he should pass the microphone torch to his nephew, that guy could sing.

  • That was the Taste of Syracuse! i was totally there and i remember that bald guy standing there! it was my first time to the Taste of Syracuse and they had alot of good music... im also a Chris Lizzi fan!

  • i love how the old bands' from the 70's keep crankin' it!!!!!!!

  • Just saw them in North Carolina and although time has taken its toll the show was great and I'm glad I got to see them. I only hope I have half the energy and ability in a few years

  • I saw MTB last night in Rockwall, TX and now I feel the same way as Megs, below. I have been a loyal fan since the mid-70's but I was disappointed and a little embarrassed by their performance last night. Doug has done so much good for this group but it's time to say, "thank you for the years" and retire. I don't think any MTB fan would blame him or hold it against him. They we're phenomenal for so many years but us fans with the memories of those years and don't tarnish it.

  • WTF is this crap....This isn't what came out of Spartanburg!!!!!!!!

  • dude i was there O_o

    was that in little rock?

  • Despite the fact that the band has changed over the course of the last 30+ years that I've been following them, Doug and the boys still bring a happy tear to the eyes of this ol' gal ~~ and his surgery may have taken its toll, but no one puts more heart into it than Doug.

  • Wow. Huge fan but this is pathetic. Way too slow, sounds like it's the first time they've performed it. I'd be asking for my money back.

  • Doug Gray is a founding member of MTB. Trust me, they sound great live. I saw them on the Simple Man Cruise 2008 and they rocked!! Also, Doug is a kind and very friendly man. He would stop and talk to you if you just asked or even take a pic with you. MTB is a class act and Doug Gray is still leading the pack!!

  • They don't need guards up front just fence to catch things

  • aight

  • its not about how good compared to years ago, its about respect and enjoying seeing a part of american music history, ali cant fight like he used to, but hes still the one and only so lighten up you hypocritical critics

  • sorry but it would have sounded a lot better if it was just the band playing. nothing will ever be the original...!!!

  • the singer Doug gray is the original singer.

  • That is the original singer

  • I didn't think I would EVER, EVER say this about Doug Gray - we've seen and enjoyed him and MTB live several times over the years and they were always WONDERFUL. But the performance shown here broke my heart. Time to retire Doug...leave us with lovely memories and go rest and relax as you well deserve.

  • Retirement is a word in its own right.

  • Only footage you need to see to understand why "Doug Gray and His MTB cover Band" is a complete disgrace to the ORIGINAL, and ONLY Marshall Tucker Band. How pitiful...

  • Oh boy. It's time to put away the instruments and take up golf.

  • way toooo slow

  • I'm embarrassed for him on this performance.

  • My uncle is the current drummer for MTB, and Doug Gray surely doesnt have a voice like he used to. But of course im sure not many people know that he had to have vocal chord surgery and he shouldnt even being singing at this point.

SO the fact that he is even singing is an amazing thing. I've seen em live a million times and i still love em. All the band members are great. And his nephew is Clay Cook, who co-wrote most of John Mayer's first album.

  • thats cool!! I still love them!

  • This is not the Original Marshall Tucker, in fact only the flute player is the only original left

  • Sorry to correct you but Doug Gray is an original

  • Yup, if that's Doug Gray, he's the original vocalist from when Tommy and Toy Caldwell were around....

  • The original flutist, Jerry, hasn't been playing with MTB for over a decade at this point. I can assure you the guy in the video above is NOT Jerry!

  • That ain't the original flutist. He hasn't been with the bad for over a decade.

  • oH come on, how old are all of you? The original band is dead, go on the marshall tucker band website. These aren't the founding members, no even sure who the heck they are. Thats why they sound so bad.

  • I wanna see him attempt to sing Ramblin

  • You should hear this guy drunk, he may sound better.

  • Like your voice is still going to sound the same 30 years from now. Despite what you may think, they still put on a great show.

  • well, at least the flute sounds good !!!

  • OK kids, this is what happens when you do drugs. In about 40 years, you will be as bad as the singer.

  • Yes officer, I`ve ben drinking, but my ffriend, you know.. the flute guy, yeah.., he is the driver.... what me on the driver side ????? well you see, I.... he was a little sleepy ad I feel good you see....... so he drove me, ... no I drove him and yeah, ... im drunk.

  • but the record on instead of this.

  • SHHHIIIIIIIIIT! well, i guess ok, but nothing compared to what they used to be able to do

  • tinny as hell.

  • This is fricking terrible. I, too, saw them years ago and they were great. I saw them a couple years ago and left before the third song.

  • trainwreck nothin thats hammertime

  • What a train wreck, kids don't do achol.

    Marshall Tucker Band, rrocks though

  • Oh Yea, Heard It In A Love Song, brings back memories

  • well.. you know, you have good nights and bad nights...they are still tmb thats good enough for me

  • hey my dad was at that concert

  • i just got back home from a marshall tucker concert well worth the 32 bucks

  • Doug Gray's voice is pretty much shot. But now, they are much better compared to 2006. He does vocals on a couple of songs, but other members alternate lead vocals now. One is guitarist Chris Hicks, and the other is Doug's nephew, whose name I cant remember. His nephew sounds really good! Although it isn't the same as 30 years ago (which I wasn't around at that time), they still put on a good show, and I had a great time at their concert at the Taste of Minnesota.

  • Thanks for your comment! Even though it's not the same as 30 years ago (which I'm glad someone else realizes that) it was still a great show and the band members were really friendly. We were able to get autographs and pics with the band members afterwards.

  • i agree with don417

  • An absolute disgrace..amazing song, but he sounds awful. Probably trashed.

  • No he wasn't trashed. Hmmm...and how great would you sound 30 plus years later? Still, one heck of show!

  • he sounds like crap.

  • This is an atrocity compared with the original!!!

  • Well you missed certainly missed a great show. The original recording was done in a studio and that was 30 years ago! After 30 years, I'm glad they're still around and that I got to see them.

  • Ain't it sad?! Doug Gray has no voice left, I saw them 10-15 times back in the 70's and they were great.

  • i agree man. i saw them twice since 03. they are great, and love it that gray is still alive and with them. its a shame his voice aint as great. but im STILL a huge fan!

  • What is with security at concerts and bald heads?

  • GREAT VIDEO THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
