@Fuleadeare Yes, it is quite terrifying and that inspite of all the mind-numbing platitudes about how blood, gore and -in this case- rape help the TRPs and ruin family values and it's all the evil corporates, or in some cases "the west" and blah, blah. I get that a teleseries needs to employ shortcuts to make sense -quickly, but certain kinds of shortcuts ought to be unforgivable!

its disturbing rape is being normalised by the teleseries. the tele series, not the book. you could say how a show reflects the time we live. or... that it makes it. either way, its a 'barbarian' raping the innocent white virgin all over again, and i'm not sure who's getting the rougher deal- the 'oriental' condemned to his representation or the woman to her subsumption into 'romance'!

I sometimes get the distinct feeling that the only reason they changed their wedding night scene from what happened in the book was because rape was more 'fun' to see than some gentle, consensual sex. @dragonsofliberty In the books Drogo's abuses are filtered through Dany's eyes, but you can feel the tragedy in those words. she says things on the line of "he took his pleasure every night" "he took me always from behind and it was okay so he couldn't see my tears" and many other things that indicate that in the beginning their sexual relationship is painful for her, while he doesn't feel like he's doing anything wrong. imo, Drogo from the books is not different than Drogo from the show.

This is absolutely gorgeous. Seriously. And it's one of the main reasons I started watching the show. I read the first half of the first book last year and still have to finish, but I honestly didn't remember much of their story, so it's kinda nice looking at them with a fresh eye! It's amazing how you portray emotion in this video. When I first saw it I just saw such tenderness, and honestly in the show so far it's been a lot of fear :/, but I believe you and others about them becoming amazing!
