  • @hitmynuts11 Thanks buddy.

  • love it one moment pushing wood next a bandaged finger.

  • can you do me a huge favor and make a hunting knife that is perfectly capable of field stripping/skinning small game (hogs, whitetail) i have tried to but the blade chipped and cut my arm so here i am on youtube

  • @MaskedMammal We do take custom orders. If you can send us a picture of what you are wanting, we can give you a quote. Thanks,

  • man that is a nice knife.... i was wondering what kind of metal was your favorit to use

  • @lilbolin60 Thank you. 5160 carbon steel.

  • Now "THAT'S" a damn knife! fkn savage! Just a quick thought here on the handle, the glue was an awesome idea, was thinking if you added two rivets one towards the top and one towards the bottom all the way through the handle would make sure the two pieces don't come off? Awesome vid can't wait to see more!

  • @Atropolis24 Thank you. The scales are actually attached with hidden steel pins, then glued. That helps keep the scales on.

  • wow shetthats f*cking nice i wanna buy it for hmmm 900 dolars?

  • how did u put them big dents in the knife i want some in my knife

  • how much would u sell em' for

  • @ducttapemasterful Hi. You can check out my website, for prices on the Preditor and all my other products. Thanks for your inquiry. Chris

  • i would like to no how to make a handle cause thats all i need how did u get the handle on to it wat woold did u use i dont got the saw machine at home and im not allowed to use it at school

  • Do You Make Knifes For People If They Request Them?

  • @oSK1LLZZZo Yes I do. Right now, due to a large backlog of orders, I can't take any custom orders at this time. Just internet orders (items on my site). Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Chris

  • Great vid. I love that you're using basic tools and relying on creativity rather than expensive machines to tackle most of the roughing and finishing work. Was the steel annealed prior to working with it? Hand grinder is pretty rough, I can't imagine working on hardened steel without burning the hell out of it. Good job. My only criticism is the soundtrack , lol. I tend to think of my knife-making as a calming and zen type activity, so the music was a bit overwhelming

  • @ritter89 Glad you liked the video. Sorry I hurt your ears with the music. Chris

  • is that 100% full steel

  • It's 5160 steel, heat treated.

  • nice knife, did you you use spring steel?

  • thats a nice knife

  • woow friend a nice knife!

  • Thank you very much.

  • Once I get ferther along I send ya some pics! so far I just got the blank cut out for the blade and polished! no edge on it yet! Today was my 1st day building it. I made the templates over the weekend! Im hoping to put the saw teeth down the back using a template and the die grinder with a cut off wheel! It would be too trick with the chop saw!

  • AWSOME! Im in the process of starting a knife myself and I cant decide weather to go with a full tang blade or a hollow handle survival style which Im now sure how to assemble the hollow one without welding it! I do have a welder if I had to! Its gonna have a rambo style blade! Great video! ive been using the same tools you are so I know Im heading in the right direction! This is the 1st nice knife I tried to make!

  • Outstanding. Send me pictures, if you like.

  • damn bro! that's what i would like to see more of. just a guy some steel and a few tools in his garage, whose only motivation for making a knife is because he wants to, and he can.. HELL YEAH!! outstanding results with nothing more than the will to do it. don't stop.

  • great knives.... do you ever hand forge them though?

  • what was you reccomend for cutting through 1/4" steel? i cant afford a $2000 plasma cutter unfortunately :(.

  • A grinder will do the job. Just what I use. Chris

  • thanks man, i love your custom work.

  • Thank you bud. That was one of my favorite knives. Chris

  • Awsome knide, leather shelth would do favor to it!!

  • Thanks so much, and thanks for subscribing. Chris

  • Sweet knife man, another good video 5/5

  • why is ther a triforce on ur cutter

  • When I first started I epoxy was plenty to hold the scales on. I soon learned that with simi hard use, they'll come right off. So I would definately pin it (that's what we call it.). Not rivets. Just get either 1/8 or 1/4 inch steel or brass rods and drill the holes through and stick the pin in there with glue on it. Glue the scales to the knife. Squeeze it all together, and clamp it and let it dry. Youl can also have hidden pins. Thanks, Chris.

  • Very impressive. I admit, I'm a bit jealous of your shop's capabilities. I bought a piece of steel from Home Depot to fashion into a blade and, no matter what, i fully expect it to be a piece of crap. What is the most basic way to make a decent knife? Every boy deserves a knife.

  • Thanks, but I hate to dash your hopes. I would really like to give you an easy way, but there's not. I mean, you can just cut one out and sharpen it, but I think you would rather have a real knife. Take the time and learn. Read about it. Practice. and then make one, and see what happens.

  • great vid!! thanks for the info! i just started getting into making knives myself and i found this to be verry informative. thats an awesome looking knife!

  • Thank you. Good luck on your knifemaking. Chris

  • thats one niice handcrafted knife.

  • Thanks you. Chris

  • very nice knife! i am curently learning how to edge a blade. any tips? and with limited tools right now

  • I started out with very limitied tools myself, and to this day still use them. I'm actually use to using the "not so standard" knife making tools, like my angle grinder. Most knife makers don't use them at all, but that's my main tool. I do just about everything with it: cutting, shaping, sanding, polishing. Thanks, Chris

  • very nice thanks. i am new to knife making. so i dont know any of the tricks. can you tell me how to polish off scratches and is ther a type of metel i can use without having to heat?

  • As far as getting the scratches out, you need to think of it like wood. Start out with a heavy grit sandpaper, and depending on how shinny you want it, start working your way to a higher grit, up to 2000 grit. I use a orbital sander. I wouldn't really recommend to not heat it. Heat it correctly, but if you just want to make something for fun, find some steel from somebody who knows, with a high carbon content (carbon gives it strength). Chris

  • Good job !

I love the vids ..I have to ask what kind of steel did you use and how did you get the metal buffed out to a nice shean and did ya quench it in anything ? again great vid 5/5

  • I used 5160 steel. You start out at a low grit and work your way all the way to a 2000 grit sand paper. Yes, we heat treat our blades. You can check out our web site for details on how we do it. Thanks, Chris

  • Your a true American. Thats some amazing craftsmanship, I cant wait to have that knife in my collection. Thanks for the post keep it up!

  • Thanks bro! Any time your ready I'll make you one! Chris

  • bloody beautiful !!

  • Thanks buddy! Chris

  • amazing knife chris. that is a great design and looks blade heavy for hacking like a bowie. i like khukuri style knives myself and this is an excellent practice to make one fro spring steel. thank bro. im going to add you to my friends and subscribe.

  • Kukri's one of my favorites also. I have one on my web site. Just didn't do a video on it. Thanks, Chris

  • don't cut yourself ;-)

    good job 5* btw

  • Good eye. Ya, this one took a piece of me! Thanks for watching. Chris

  • Occasionally I get asked about my knife making techniques, so here it goes: My web site explains the type of steel, normalizing, heat hardening, heat tempering, temperatures used, quenching, non-magnetizing, file testing for hardness, etc. All the important steps are taken to ensure it is a quality blade that will last. These steps are accepted methods that have been used for hundreds of years.

  • ArcherOut - Very nice. And the music was?

Sorry about your finger... some things must be sacrificed to the craft! -TheOldGuyPhil

  • Thanks bud. The song was "Train Rolls Without You", by Scorched-Earth Policy. Chris

  • Did you order your spring steel or get from a truck or something? May seem like a stupid question but yea...

  • Got it off an old Chevy from a salvage yard. Banged the steel straight (hard as hell).

  • Great Knife and Video Chris 5/5 mate.

  • Thanks bro.

  • Great. Glad you liked it! Chris

  • Thanks Ed!

  • Amazing Job!! Music fit perfectly!! 5/5 ED

  • Great knife! Equally great video! Nice job, Chris.
