There have been many studies about "why" people are gay. Some seem to suggest that there are BOTH sociological and biological factors to it.
But really why does it matter so much if it's the one or the other?
Even if people were 100% free to choose their sexuality (which I obviously don't believe) - I still see nothing wrong about liking the same sex.
Well, that's just my two cents.

The only studies that can come close to saying anything about cause are reared-apart twin studies, of which there are still none for homosexuality. Further, sociological cause does not equal CHOICE.
And when random strangers views decide whether you can get married, it's a big deal whether its a choice or not.

And yes, the best theory (nobody can prove gravity, either), from what we've seen so far is that, like in most animals who exhibit choosy persistent homosexual behavior, a certain bit of the hypothalamus is genderized in the womb to oppose the rest of the body. Lots of research supports it, prenatal androgen correlations, fraternal birth order, twin study, MRI study, etc.

Sexuality is complex - and not a lot is known about it. A lot of studies deal with it, but the majority are rather inconclusive. Correlation doesn't mean causation, but it can give you a hint, and isn't to be ignored.
I'm not saying social factors are the only cause or even the dominating cause for homosexuality - I'm saying genetics might not be the ONLY cause. It certainly isn't well supported.
And no - sexual "fetishes", as you put it, are far from always easily treated.

Sexual response IS purely biological, a series of medical changes triggered by predetermined stimuli that we do slowly add to, but ONLY BY ASSOCIATION. Now a sexual stimuli CAN be purely cognitive. Or it can be an external perception. The latter is FAR more powerful. And you cannot force yourself to have a sexual response. That's the importance of sexual response being biological.

Well not exactly, science isnt necessarily a 'fact.' Why? Because the things we know about science, and scientific theories change all the time. (As they are now discussing how Einsteins theory of relativity may be false.) Therefore, it is ignorant for one to claim he knows exactly what had occured. However, I do agree that science does produce more reasoning, and does produce a very valid hypothesis. There is no denying it, not even from religious people.
