  • are you any relation to Mike Hunt?

  • imagine u put clay on a polisher or buffer u would get that done so fast

  • Just bought some Meguiars smooth surface kit here in the UK for the father-in-law, Vid should help him to get a perfect finish on his porsche after Xmas. Thanks for the Vid, great tutorial.

  • how many times can you clean the car with one bar?

  • will this remove oil based paint splatters?!!!?? please some1 reply i dont want to pay for a new topcoat..

  • do u have to use wax after wordS?

  • @andyfoxable yes! claybar removes all old wax. so put wax on after to protect your paint

  • 1:06 Datsun 240z :P

  • whats the name of the product your using (name brand?)

  • @kraZyLandMind Its Meguiar's

  • dont touch my claybar!!! i mean drumset...

  • Uygulama özeti için teşekkürler ;)

  • i havent clayed my car for 9 years...do i need soft or medium clay bar?

If you use a lot of shampoo as a lubricant and make very small pieces each time, is it as safe as using normal lubricant??

  • im never going to take my new car out of the garage in case it gets dirty.

  • can you use a clay bar more than once?

  • nc 1

  • I can't wait to do this to my car! It's going to be fun!

  • HQ my ass

  • do you need to wash the car before claying?

  • @1HOTLS1 Yes! Wash before claying

  • @IMsoLEGIT28 ok thanks.

  • @1HOTLS1 I am a auto detailer, and yes you must wash you car before you do, if you dont dirt, dust, etc will scratch your clear coat. When you clay bar I use final touch up solvent for lubrication when clay baring. Also waxing it right after is always recommended.

  • @rapinNtapin ok kool thanks. i have a few rough area's i want to soften out.

  • A FULL sized microfiber. Thank god. I was worried it would be some half or quarter sized microfiber.

  • Will the clay also remove those deposits left behind when water is allowed to dry on the paint? My car has that, and it's really bad.

  • above surface baudicontaminants

  • I put this vid on my favorites, just because there is a Datsun Z in the background.

  • i cant imagine how my neighbors will think of me when i rub my car like that

  • Random funny waling guy @ 1:34

  • Good video! Have some spray paint overspray on my '10 Xterra. Fortunately it's white spray paint on a white xterra. Went to detail it tonight and my paint was extremely rough. Didn't realize how much overspray there was until now. Going to go buy a clay bar tomorrow and try it. FYI Meguiar's rocks! My car detailing kit includes ONLY Meguiar's products. Your products truly are better! Now why did I detail the Xterra when I'm taking it offroading this weekend? :-/

  • Bought this from Halfords in UK, £25, best 25 nicker I ever spent. Problem is, claying becomes an addiction! I clayed the missus car the next day. she didn't appreciate it as usual.

  • Can you use the same clay on a different car or do you throw it away after use

  • @chapin615 ive had the same clay bar for about three years.. used it about once a month on semi's

  • One thing I have learned from using this product is you can never have enough lube.

  • Will Ferrell?

  • what car is that at 1:05

  • The back bumper and the trunk really gets gritty. You can defintely feel it. I'll try the clay bar. Hope it works.

  • Can you use your own poo as an alternative?

  • nice to work in a detail sho, have clay lube at my disposale, soak and clay the entire car, than run it through car wash.

  • A clay bar doesn't sound as tasty as a chocolate bar.

But I don't think chocolate could polish my car.

  • @peckerwood57 Wtf? Ahahahaha!

  • Talking too fast, could not understand what was said after the video faded out!

  • Dealers should fully detail a car before it's sold. If I was buying a truck like that, I'd inspect it visually before buying.

  • veryyy nice

  • I have just used this on my red Audi A4 cab and the finish is excellent. Will use Meguiars products on my other cars

  • Just finished using this on my celica, best finish I have ever had.

  • Ive used this product for about 2yrs at vw shows and makes my car stand out due to the high finish it gives!! Wud recommend to everyone ;)

  • Used that kit, awesome

  • Ok for the ppl asking what goes first wax or clay, just think about it. Why would you polish and wax your car just to use a clay bar to remove it. Always use a clay bar first

  • piece is spelt piece NOT peice

  • @PaulTip get raped by an english teacher or something ?

  • That sure as hell looks like A 70's Datsun Z behind him!

  • would the two clay bars that it comes with be enough for an average size car like a Jetta???

  • @xtcraver218 HI, 1 clay bar will be plenty,I finished using mine today on a saloon with just 1 clay bar,and the bar still look's good for another claying

  • @xtcraver218 you can use one clay bar a a couple times depending on how dirty it gets. just knead it till u get a fresh side. if u wax your car regurally those two clay bars will last your jetta for years

  • I bought the exact same kit he used from Target a few weeks ago and it worked wonders. I will definitely be buying the same product again :)

  • wouldn't polish be the next step? then wax...

& clay is abrasive... that's how it gets the containments out. It won't be abrasive to you paint if you use it right though, only abrasive to the containments. Keep folding it over for a clean surface & use a detailer or soap/water.

Claying is amazing. I just clayed my truck today for the first time (03 tacoma @ 120k miles). Wow... the amount of stuff I picked up is amazing. I've had 3 ppl ask me what wax I used already... (lol I didn't wax yet)

  • why cant they make it "pre" neaded? lol.......quick question Meguiars....i just did a Turtle Wax Black Box treatment on my car....can you use the clay bar AFTER that? i dont want the clay bar to remove all my work lol....it took me 5 hours to be exact...

  • should we use clay bars of trim or only paint? my navigator has a large chrome strip on the door, should i avoid it?

  • What do you guys think of waxing then clay so you don't scuff the paint

  • @wassa786 That what the spray lubricant is for. So the clay glides across the paint. The clay is for cleaning the paint, then afterwards you wax to protect it.

  • @jvids Yeah, there was some stupid video on youtube that shows someone waxing, then claying the wax - that doesn't make any sense...

  • Are you supposed to wipe it clean after you finish with the clay bar right away, or can you do the whole car and then wipe it all off after?

  • The trouble with using a clay bar is after all the rubbing I wanted to go to a gay bar!

  • Is it just me, or does this guy remind you of will ferrell.

  • WOOW!! We've lived like absolute savages so far not rubbing clay against our cars!

  • Once I start clay baring, I can't stop. The way a car feels after that is incredibly addicting.

  • It is very important to make sure my car does not make noise when i rub it...i can't stand it.

  • @benebrius noob

  • Comment removed

  • @Rafiu Only noobs use the word "noob" cockface.

  • @benebrius Does that not make you one of those things?

  • @benebrius sure noob

  • Is it re-usable? Or do I need a different bar for each area?

    -G

  • how long does a clay bar last? and how do you maintain the bar?

  • @waterkeeper03 A claybar can last long if not used too often. When you see contaminants in the clay even when folded and squeezed several times, it's ready to be pitched. If the clay feels and looks dirty, it probably also is.. You can maintain the clay by keeping it wrapped in some clear plastic, so it wont dry out.

  • @BMWM52B28

Thanks for the reply. My daily driver is a 2004, still good looking paint for it's age but I can see where i'm not washing stuff out. I'm gonna try the clay bar when the weather gets back to normal. THANKS again.

  • @BMWM52B28 so... is this one clay bar enough for my entire car (crv)? and can it be used multiple times on the entire car? also, when im done using the clay, do i let it dry a bit from the detailing spray that made it wet? or should i just immediately wrap it in plastic?

  • @AznBetty86 One claybar is enough for one car, yes. It can be reused multiple times, as long as it's not filled with contaminents and looks dirty. Depending how much it will pick up from your cars paint.

I use my claybars until I can't fold on to a clean side, I you know what I mean.

After use, wrap it in some gladpack or put it in the box that came with it. Dont let it dry out!

  • @waterkeeper03 From watching a few of these videos I got the impression that you kneed the clay to find a clean face or chuck it away and buy a new one if its too dirty.

  • The clay bar works great, made my 04 marlin blue Tundra look awesome after waxing/polishing. Two clay bars came with the kit, I found that mushing them together and forming 1 bar worked better for me.

  • too bad 30mins later its dusty again :(

    damn black paint

  • @deluxedookie

Lol 2min later.. Clay removes contaminants in the paint. Dust is on top of the paint :D

  • With Meguiar's formulated claybar, u can use it to get rid of those unwanted acne pores, just apply the claybar on the surface with a spray of Meguiar's Clear Coat. Voila! There u go, u can actually feel it with your hands, smooth as a whistle (doesn't make sense when u think about it) Proactiv ain't got nothin on Meguiar.

  • Great vid and demo. thanks.!

  • asian snappped! ;)

  • Take me to the clay bar clay bar,

  • A well done video. I had know idea this was available. I will give it a try. Thank you.

  • Great vid, nicely explained and very clear. I love the listening to the sound with th hand. Thanks.

  • hm. im gonna have to do this after i take my car out of the garage for the summer.

  • So, I just washed my vehicle and noticed the "rough" feeling. I then used Meguiar's "paint cleaner" on an orbital waxer. It helped, but not much (which lead me to this video).

The vehicle now has wax on it. Will I need to remove the wax before using the clay bar? If so, is there a product that you would recommend?

  • I aways follow a regular strict wash, wax, detail cycle but somehow, I can't rid my car's roof off the white spots. Having a black car, every small detail gets magnified. I did clay bar today and I was impressed with the result. Even the white water mark spots on my roof is gone. My car is so shinny that I can see reflection of buildings around it. This shiete works!

  • Comment removed

  • Can I wax it just after i finished claying it??

  • @iceman50000 that would be ideal

  • will that take overspray off please reply thanks

  • @Ry4nh4mill

So what you're saying is you wish he somehow knew you'd need to watch this in a hurry because you or your friend was incredibly ill prepared. For that matter he probably won't do too well at a car show, since any show car owner is well versed in detailing, of which claybar use is a critical step. And of course you must not have been in that big of a hurry if you had time to whine.

  • He could of made this shit a lot shorter if he wouldn't say what every thing is with every posible name.

"Heres the quick detailer, this is the misting detailer, this is the spray lubricant we are using, we spray this on the clay, we also spray it on to the truck, now when you spray, you want to spray it like this.." STFU

  • @Ry4nH4m1ll~nah u shut up!.... explains things well!

  • @marek0086 Not when you are in a hurry on an iPod touch at a friends house who is heading to a car show and has never used clay bar.

  • @Ry4nH4m1ll if you drive a $2K car, you can't be really particular. This explains your attitude so carry on...

  • @speedmaster001 Hey Capernicus, how about you navigate yourself to my YouTube page with your finger and watch my truck video and tell me I don't know a thing or two about maintaining an OBS Chevy K1500.

OBS = Old body style, but i'm sure you already knew that didnt you?

The video is small because it was my first rendering off of Sony Vegas Pro, so keep that in mind when you are looking for a sappy comeback.

  • @Ry4nH4m1ll you are hopeless even with name calling. Did you mean Nicholaus Copernicus, the astronomer who proved all wrong including the Pope that the sun is the center of the solar system? Since you started it then let me call you Ptolemy then, the egg head Astronomer who fancied that the Earth is the center of the Solar System. So you drive a Chevy eh? Pfftt, my ride is an Infiniti FX35.

  • can anyone tell me the difference between clay bar and polish? what kind of clay bar would you recommend?

  • @theoneandonlymeyupyu to answer your question, both are mildly abrasive. Most people say that clay isn't abrasive, but that is usually said so it doesn't scare people. When used correctly (with lubricant) the clay bar becomes abrasive to the contaminants, but not the paint. Polish on the other hand is mildly abrasive to the paint, which would be good for knocking down hairline scratches and such. Both are very easy to use.

  • Ah. I just watched a video about poverty in third world countries, so this seems incredibly frivolous.

  • @Spiray Clay actually saves money in the long run, so you could use the money you save to feed 3rd world countries if you like. Clay runs about $15, and can be used over and over again as long as you don't allow it to dry out. By using the clay annually or every 6 months, you remove the polutants that will cause you to need a new paint job sooner, which will save you hundreds or even thousands on a respray down the road.

  • @v12tommy Actually, I meant the whole idea of owning a big, shiny car and then dedicating time and spending money to keep it shiny, and making/watching videos about it seemed frivolous.

And I'm saving even more money on paint jobs- I don't have a car ;) But thanks for your reply, and if/when I get a car, I'll make sure to keep the clay in mind.

  • @Spiray Having a cool car is like a movable piece of art, plus you should dedicate time to maintain all of your things to keep them in the best shape. I am 25 and have 2 "luxury" cars at this point (Corvette Z06 & Audi), and I am working on getting 2 more in the near future (a 1955 Chevy convertible, and a Chevy HHR for a daily driver). It isn't my fault 3rd world countries are poor, but I worked for my money and enjoy spending it on cars.

  • got 200g of ebay for allot cheaper and its designed so that you only need water as a lubricant. Worked wonders for my paint and is a great low cost alternative.

  • apply north to south, NOT in circles. you want the apply it with whichever way the wind blows over your car

  • was that a whole 50g bar? i would like to know if you could use that clay bar again or do you normally throw it away?

  • @supafly1982 yes, the bar he used was a whole 50g bar, but you can use it again. You just roll up the clay and re-knead it flat again. I used to work detail, and depending on how many cars you will be doing, chances are you will either drop the clay or it will dry out over time before you use up all the usefulness. Any time you drop it, throw it away.

  • @v12tommy cheers for the reply, ive had a go a claying a coupe of cars now, i used a 100g block, i cut it up into 4 because im a cheapskate and i was using my products on othe peoples cars for free, they werent very dirty and i could feel the paintwork turn smooth through out, what a difference it makes

  • I use meguiars alot and this product is amazing it works well and i just got a used car and its made the paint sparkle once more. i have read many people go the products dont work yet 2 me they do work. every 2 weeks i buy more of there gear just because i knw it works and i use it alot and the results are amazing. i do use poorboys for when im cleanin in the sun tho as meguairs wont do it but im waiting for the day they will do it

  • lol... no wonder... i did my hood today and i thot i was doing it wrong... i rolled the clay on it LOLOLOL!!!!

  • I think that the market Meguiars is trying to reach is the average joe car cleaner. Everyone is ripping this guy apart for no reason.

  • I am sorry Mike your going to have to explain that again... I was distracted by the '73 240z you have in the background. Maybe if you clayed that, I'd be more inclined to buy your product so I could use it on my '72 240.

  • that should have been done on an old car, to see the results

  • How often can you clay bar safely? I've heard anywhere from monthly to once every six months.

  • @SVPrelude When used properly, clay wont harm the pain, but it can remove wax. The rule of tumb is to use it as one of the steps to clean the paint before apply wax.

  • great video.

question: after you clay a section, do you continue to use the same peice of clay for the next section?

  • thanks man!!! great info!!

  • claying must take a while o.O

  • dont forget to take of your rings or you will scratch the shit out of your vehice

  • 1:37 ooohhh ssshhiittt here comes gangsta trouble in the background

  • @BlowinUPinMIA Haha, thats why they cut out the video then LoL.

  • @BlowinUPinMIA lmao i read your txt and was looking out for this big gangsta looking guy lol funny as still

  • @BlowinUPinMIA Ahahahaha!!!

  • this didnt say anything that isnt on the back of a box

  • Clay kit is EPIC SULLY! :D

  • i used this shit it removed the dirt first time and i did and it really didnt come out i got a million scratches that arent going away any tips dont say paint job i got rid of most already

  • @josh666675 rofl clay bar dosent scratch unless you had dirt on it befor you appy the clay bar

  • Hello

Just a quick question is the clay bar the first step before doing a polish and then a wax? I am just trying to understand the best way of doing my car. If I understand correct I should to a clay bar of the car follow by doing a Polish and then finialy a wax. Is this right? Is a scratch remove to the same and a polishing compound?

Any help would be great thanks

  • drive it for 10 minutes and it will be just as dirty.

  • Not even. That's why you wash your car every 7-10 days, and in between it's best to use a cleaner/detail spray...it's like 2 hours per week to keep your car looking brand new.

  • @taylor22222222 depends where you live. I drive on the freeway alot. if I wash my car and drive on the freeway for 10 minutes I can get just as much as dirt off of it each time.

  • Isn't that seasonal though? I mean, unless you live somewhere like Death Valley.

  • Good video. Im gonna have to do this to my camaro soon.

  • awesome vid!! and awesome product!!

  • Comment removed

  • watch out for that guy behind you at 1:40.. hes ona fucking mission

  • @wilson22490 haha yeah he gonna kick somebodys ass!

  • @wilson22490 Thats cause he wants to get Berry Meguire up tha butt. Not after this dude after the old man hahaha.

  • anyone know if claying would remove road tar?

  • @richad3091 yes it will

  • @richad3091 It would not

  • @alexjalaff

tried it and it does, just takes a wile and no damage is done to paint.works ok

  • wd40 will do the same thing and alot easy,

  • can i use sandpaper and an angle grinder instead of this product? i have a brand new Ferrari En

  • @syncstation Make sure that sandpaper is #1 grit, then work your way 'up' to #80 grit. Remember, you can always buff it out! : P

  • @lizard944 thanks lizard. I'll polish it with a pick axe to finish it off nicely then.

  • @syncstation That is a Ferarri, so make sure it is a metric pick axe. : )

  • Major mistakes in this video. You don't flatten clay into a pancake. You roll it into a ball then flatten it into a half-ball on a clean surface. Plus, you can keep a better grip on it that way. Clay works by creating a sharp edge to scrape away contaminents. Whoever says you can put wax on just after claying is a total nincompoop. Clay leaves sleeks or micro-marring. You will need to buff, unless you just want to touchy feely a smooth surface and don't mind looking at tons of swirl marks.

  • LMAO AT THE ASIAN AT 1:38!!!!

  • dam i mite have to do this to my car

  • Do i need to polish my car after this job... My paint on my car is 6 years old...

  • @VOLVOFH16FAN you dont have to but its a perfect time to. The point of this is to get the surface perfectally clean and smooth then you wax it to put a layer of protection on top of your clearcoat. So i would def wax after claying

  • is the cleaner wax a paint prep product?

  • @gsaini100 Take the cleaner wax and give it to someone that you hate. It is an over-the-counter product sold to people who don't have a clue. Check out some web forums and learn how to do paint prep properly. I like autopia (dot)org-- and get ready to read until your eyes bug out. No affiliation, just an occasional contributor to the forum.

  • @lizard944 Hahaha mmm sureee?

  • The guy approaching at 1:36 is scary!

  • Must be a silverado Classic. 07' Was the style changover

  • will it get rid of vine over spray of paint. I have a 380 sl Benz in classic white paint and have dark brown over spray. I used a polishing compound and it got rid of allot of it but there is still some. I'm considering trying this stuff before I wax.

  • @miezu No it wont the overspray is your paint. This just removes surface contamination.

  • @miezu Yes, clay will remove overspray but not the clay you buy in these off the shelf kits. Proffessional clay comes in a few different grades from ultra fine down to a courser blend. You would have to order the right grade from a detail product supplier. Like I sais, the stuff in the kits is for the dude that wants to keep his paint clean.

  • clay does not remove EVERYTHING. it will take the contaminants out of the paint. If to much pressure and not enough lubricant is used, clay marks will be visble therefore having to buff the vehicle with a polish. There are also different types of grades to clay (heavy, medium and fine grade). Also Tree sap and bird droppings will eat the paint finish. If possible remove ASAP. Tree sap can be removed with a rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover will work.

  • Great video!!

  • Should the car be dry when applying the clay bar or it doesnt matter?

  • very informative, my car has a bunch of little bumps on it..

  • how many times can u use the bar

  • would it not be bonding to the clearcoat not paint?
