I like the unusual look too, although I like the longer one (I understand the shorter one is for carry). I know someone else was mentioned the holding location, and Chiappa does have a warning and instructions about that on their website. I wonder how bad of an issue it really is.
I have no idea what you think is acceptable use of a firearm
But from your comment I would recommend you do some serious learning about when you have the right to draw and / or use deadly force wherever you live..Because what you describe there makes you the criminal in more ways than one
@GunWebsites No lol...Well, I was more like thinking about someone charging with a knife at my direction after they break in my house (if I saw a gun on him I would fire right away btw) and istead of standing still waiting for the cops to come forced me to shoot him by rushing in, that is all lol. I got some snubs 38 not as powerful as this one, but at least it looks more menacing, just saying.
@muddstrosity It does, you didn't comprehend it, I'm tired of seeing armed robberies with toy guns, and the victim figuring it out and beating the crap out of the robber, it can happen the other way arround too, and that would get people shot in the end.
@muddstrosity YES. but instead of killing someone, you could scare the shit out of them and make them get the fuck away from you, instead of moving in your direction to stab you, since you are holding a .357 monster, that looks like a bb gun.
I've been reading problem with people with bad placement of their finger and it can char their fingers off if placed wrong but if you hold a revolver like that anyway, you are holding it wrong so it doesn't matter if it can hurt you. The same can be applied to really small handguns and if you put your thumb too close to the muzzle. It's all about proper training, so people should stop bitching about how it can take your finger off because it can only if you havent been training the right way
Never never follow up with a misfire! Good way to lose some fingers! Could be that primer pushed bullet into barrel and next pull...kiss your fingers good-by!
one design problem i can think of is that normally there's a fireball coming out between the cylinder and the barrel when shots are fired. high barrel gives more distance for the fireball to reach the fingers. i see your finger right next to the barrel, that looks very dangerous. mythbuster did an episode on the revolver and how it can cut a finger if placed in the wrong area.
@rickylain well in all revolver shooting you definitely don't want to place your fingers near the forcing cone. Both this one 20ds and the 60ds are very easy to grip and keep your fingers out of the way. The only thing I've experiences is feeling the warmth of the powder flash a tad more than say a S&W M500 revolver.
I don't care if people think it's ugly, if it out performs a standard revolver I'd rather have that. After all, the last thing in a life or death situation you should be worrying about is if someone thinks your revolver is ugly.
@545Krinkify its because with a lower barrel the recoil is more inline with your arm, so you can handle it better. if the barrel was real high, think how much it would rock back in your hand.
its a very basic but effective change in a pistol, and i think this could be a look into the future for revolvers
Notice the perfect location for a built-in laser; right above the barrel; it cud be the most accurate laser on the market; beam so close to the barrel.
@545Krinkify Less recoil and muzzle flip; allows for more accurate follow up shots. I have a Rhino 200DS and I love it. Took a ton of shit from the guys at the gun store but everyone at the range (including some of the employees of that gun store) really enjoyed firing it. They're probably not perfect but they ARE badass and may be a nice turning point in the future of firearm design (they're the second bottom barrel design, after the Mateba). They're a little pricey so watch for sales.
@545Krinkify You're not on the losing end of leverage. If you hold the bottom end of a stick and someone pushes towards you from the top you can't control the stick as well.
@545Krinkify the barrel being low puts it closer to the axis of the forearm, meaning the recoil goes straight back rather than into muzzle flip. It makes for less felt-recoil and greater comfort.
@545Krinkify Firing from the bottom cylinder puts the recoil in line with the part of your hand with the most support, translating to less muzzle flip.
@545Krinkify The recoil and tourquing of the gun is directed centrally through your wrist and down your arm, a similar theory to the use of Ulu and 'Push' knives.
@545Krinkify It puts the recoil lower and in line with the radial bone in your arm. This equates to significantly reduced muzzle flip and less felt recoil. The recoil seems less because instead of your wrist taking the recoil, it pushes back on your entire arm, so it's absorbed by much larger muscles and bones.
me to I didn't like this gun at all until I saw the shoot it, I wonder if they were really shooting magnums or if they slipped in some .38 specials on us.
@BMPdub It's thanks to the barrel being in the 6 o'clock position as opposed to the traditional 12; it reduces muzzle flip by directing recoil into the shooter's wrist rather than over it. Mateba did the same with their Model 6 Autorevolver back in '97, which was actually a semi-automatic revolver and yes, I know how contradictory that sounds.
keep in mind newly bought guns might have misfire issues as springs, hammer and the trigger might be stuck due to being in a hot enviroment( this is a desert) or a humid storage area. So if the gun is new here its forgivable. Low recoil on a 357, on a small gun? did not expect that! i would get one.
@ManGlock2011 It just misfired once and that was most likely because of faulty ammo. The other time was because they only loaded 3 shots in irregular intervals. 2 empty, 1 loaded, 1 empty, 2 loaded.
@MacheteMenacho yeah I use the cheapest ass china-walmart ammo with my glock 19 3rd gen.. and I have never ever had a miss fire.. only the rare jam ups
People who are critical of the gun's looks are really missing the point. The gun was designed so the barrel aligns with the bottom of the cylinder, rather than the top. This means the recoil energy transfers to a much lower point in the shooter's hand, which reduces muzzle flip. Sure, it's a new design and there are going to be some bugs to work out. But it's the most innovative step in revolver technology since the advent of double action triggers.
People use cheap ammo which is often refered as range ammo for range time it wouldn't matter if it was steel cases especially in this case there is no extractor I shoot steel cased in my AK all day long. Anyways it was a bad primer it happened to me more than one time in a semi and a revolver there's nothing wrong with the gun you guys need to chill.
some of you guys think that realy good ammo you won't get misfires....wrong. if it's got tits or it's man made you are going to have a problem with it soon or a later
Apparently people think you go to the range and shoot the best ammo possible... Because that is affordable. Too many CoD faggots trying to act like they know shit about firearms.
@UMadUJelly: I'm in no way a CoD fan, but I'll be damned if i would put bad ammo through my handguns. You really shouldn't shoot shitty ammo. If affects your shots, your gun, etc. Bad ammo is a really stupid thing to use.
@Juggalofromthehills wrong , a gun can handle all kinds of ammo. I have shot ammo that was in the dirt and ammo that was 40 years old and all of it shot. cheap ammo is fine on the range but I would not rely on it to save my life
@Juggalofromthehills The thing that effects yours shots the most is not shooting your guns. Cheaper ammo means more range time... Save to the good stuff for when you need it.
Also, good ammo or bad ammo they all effect the guns, that is why we clean our guns from time to time.
@hoshnasi: I understand that you need more range time if you use bad ammo, but it is also a relly bad idea to use cheap ammo. A lot of cheap ammo uses steel casings, which is terrible for your weapon. Cleaning it will not get rid of the damage that bad ammo will cause to your guns over time. Also, you should clean your guns EVERY time you go shooting.
@Juggalofromthehills You must be trolling me. People don't need to shoot more because of the negative effects of lower quality ammo. They do so to increase trigger time which increases SKILL. Buying more expensive ammo is no replacement for trigger time.
Read: Lower quality ammo has little appreciable different for almost all people (yes, you included).
Also, there are thousands and thousands of police officers that do not follow the "Clean every time you shoot" in their Glocks
@Juggalofromthehills Your not a gun expert. Guns can fire many types of surplus ammo. Its fine for range work. If you are responsible and clean your firearms after firing, it is not a problem in most situations.
To the first shooter in the video with his thumbs next to the cylinder, could you please shoot a 44 mag or 50 cal revolver holding your thumbs the same way and please post it on youtube. thankyou.
I've read and seen a lot of Great reviews on the 'Rhino'... interesting design having the barrel lower definitely helps in muzzle flip.... My only wish was that Ruger would have come up with this.... maybe this design will get other manufacturers to take a serious look.... I thought of this design a long time ago, as well as a few Ideas I have that I don't see yet in rifles.... Cheers.
@machinegun911 From the occasional videos I've seen on this, the primary plus point is the way the barrel is on the 6 o'clock cylinder chamber, meaning the recoil goes simply back into your hand and arm, meaning there is very little muzzle flip. Disadvantages are the increased number of parts, and that it's a new design I guess.
@MacheteMenacho Yea, well your not going to be carrying shitty FMJ ammo for defense are you? It wasn't the guns fault. The round fired the second time around.
seems like a pretty cool new controllable carry design (if youre a revolver guy). ive never seen a flat carry revolver before haha. that misfire is a dealbreaker though.
@URBANAMERICANTAC As far as i can see there is first one shot fired and then a misfire then two shots, misfire, shot, misfire, shot then two misfires and finally a shot.Unless this is realy bad ammo this product should never been out...
@bobcat224 Why would the barrel turn for every time the trigger resets and why would you brace yourself and meet the recoil for every time you reset the trigger? This ARE misfires. The question is whether it is because of ammo or gun. ;-)
too bad they didnt have any longer barrel lengths, this seems to me more of a cool fun to shoot 357 than one for carrying concealed maybe i need to get my hands on one, and i hope they come out in 44 that would be great
@OMGWTFMUFFINS Agreed, the one reason to get a revolver is the almost zero failure rate. Do you think part of the problem is that this company is trying to be too close to the Mateba design?
@Hiluxtaco Hexagonal, and it looks to be so they save weight and keep the profile slimmer. Rounding it off would only add weight between where the chambers are located. It'd probably end up closer to half an inch wider.
@pooinyourass OH YEAH... and then there is a loud noise to inform the shooter that the bullet was fired. GEESH Gun makers are really making it pretty simple. Or is it the lawyers??
Are they going to come out with a .44 mag?

@bruno0746 I believe most of those "misfires" are delayed trigger resets.
bobcat224 11 months ago
@bobcat224 Why would the barrel turn for every time the trigger resets and why would you brace yourself and meet the recoil for every time you reset the trigger? This ARE misfires. The question is whether it is because of ammo or gun. ;-)

@URBANAMERICANTAC I know eh.

You can tell that you guys shoot more autos in how you hold that revolver...I'm kinda digging that gun. Thanks for sharing.

I like the look of the gun and the concept of bringing 6 .357 but the jamming is very disheartening.
34601k 1 year ago
i'll stick with the .380
skibum1610 1 year ago
@skibum1610 .380? lol. why not just cuss at them and throw your shoe?
tactical2bagpipes 1 year ago
@tactical2bagpipes i like the low recoil of this gun and all but the miss fires worry me and i'd rather put some holes in a guy than get mugged
skibum1610 1 year ago
fack , that wasent to good , he had a lot of misfires it lookd like
ironlungdtoker 1 year ago
too bad they didnt have any longer barrel lengths, this seems to me more of a cool fun to shoot 357 than one for carrying concealed maybe i need to get my hands on one, and i hope they come out in 44 that would be great
justindiehl26 1 year ago
@MacheteMenacho Maybe the hammer is weak maybe a ammo problem like he said, but your right I wouldn't trust my life on it.
OMGWTFMUFFINS 1 year ago
@OMGWTFMUFFINS Agreed, the one reason to get a revolver is the almost zero failure rate. Do you think part of the problem is that this company is trying to be too close to the Mateba design?
Doccarson 1 year ago
@Doccarson Yeah I think so.
OMGWTFMUFFINS 1 year ago
@OMGWTFMUFFINS What I'd like to see is a cut away on how the gun works. Since its a under barrel design.

I'll keep my j frame, he'll for a size comparison I'd rather carry my 26. Good video though

What's with the octagonal(?) shaped cylinder?
Hiluxtaco 1 year ago
@Hiluxtaco Hexagonal, and it looks to be so they save weight and keep the profile slimmer. Rounding it off would only add weight between where the chambers are located. It'd probably end up closer to half an inch wider.

Very cool. With a lower bore axis more recoil control and muzzle flip is reduced. Nice.
JWTraynham1 1 year ago
I think the 6" version looks cooler

What do you like about those little revolvers?
GuitarManiacLesPaul 1 year ago
Whats with that red thing that pops up when the trigger is pulled?
pooinyourass 1 year ago
@pooinyourass a cocking indicator on the top of the frame informs the shooter when the internal hammer is cocked
JWTraynham1 1 year ago
@pooinyourass OH YEAH... and then there is a loud noise to inform the shooter that the bullet was fired. GEESH Gun makers are really making it pretty simple. Or is it the lawyers??
JWTraynham1 1 year ago
@JWTraynham1 So THAT is what it is... I was wondering about that.
