  • To say his energy is fantastic is an understatement. He has such a WAY about him. The live performance of "How You Like Me Now" gave me a fucking adrenaline rush :)

  • Sounds like New School version of Ol'skool.

  • David Blaine on drums :P

    youtube.com/watch?v=7UUKREIK8yg

  • i heard the first song in horrible bosses and now i like the band.

Listenning to this music may cause steamy hot sex with mysterious strangers!

  • loving this band right now

  • whats that thing on top of the singers head? Is that hair or some type of wart

  • After that, listen to "I Put a Spell On You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

  • @AlbarnKiedis was just about to say the same exact thing

  • Isn't there a chick in the band?

  • Screamin Jay Hawkins! I like this song, but the riff is from SJH, look it up.

  • The heavy is a spy!

  • The one and only, Coney Island!

  • I have just finished having sex with "The House that Dirt Built"! Great Album.

  • i put a spell on you!

  • i put a spell on you

  • love this band!!!111

  • Cool

  • coolest band ive come across

  • "Bad artists copy. Good artists steal."

    - Pablo Picasso

Yes, they used the main riff from "I put a spell on you", but goddamn did they do good things with it. Literally every fucking thing an artist can do has been done before at some point, but taking something old and making it your own is a talent just as admirable as making something new and bold in my books.

(Not to say Screamin' Jay Hawkins isn't magnificent.)

  • @diuoriox they did not steal it...it is sampled...i mean they are playing it, but they have paid for it. a megaband!

  • @diuoriox Yes, but they could change one note... The problem is not if they steal or reproduce, It's just that they put the originality of an other song without change nothing, and they remove the Screaming Jay Hawkins 's freaking good way of singing to a banal one. I don't call it "make something new", but " make something already heard with something already heard'.

  • @diuoriox Led Zeppelin did the same. still conflicts in the ethics part of my brain though

  • @diuoriox I agree, Its not where you take things from, it's where you take them to.

  • @diuoriox

"It's not called 'plagiarism', it's called 'creative borrowing'."

    :-)

  • Screamin Jay Hawkins: I Put a Spell on You... talk about a blatant rip off.

  • I wonder who are these 31 imbecile who don't like this song?! I was into it form first chords! Even if it's partly sampled I put a spell on you!

They rock the neo soul completely!!

  • Y'all are calling a track dependent on a Screamin' Jay Hawkins loop (from a bona fide classic) "real music"? Next y'all be telling me you DON'T realize that "How You Like Me Now?" is a James Brown line (via Kool Moe Dee? see--or, rather, hear, JB's "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing" + KMD's "How You Like Me Now") over a Dyke and The Blazers riff ("Let a Woman Be a Woman Let a Man Be a Man"). Look 'em up, they're all here.

  • they even have shish kabob(kabab) at 01:23!!! xD

  • Screamin' Jay Hawkins - I put a spell on you see it;)

  • just wow

  • How can 31 people dislike Real Music? Retro & Real, good dam im glad i found these guys

  • fucking love this band. something so nostalgic about it. Prolly the horns.

  • Estos brothers, con esta buena rola, si debieron haber escuchado algunos sones istmenos, de Tehuantepec, Oaxaca!!! o si no, como se explica ese ritmo tan de mayordomias del sur de Mexico.

  • The Heavy - Check

    Coney Island - Check

    Real music - Check.

  • Now this.... is a badass song!

  • I love how he is just eating a sandwich... SOOOO RANDOM. lol

  • why i haven`t heard about the heavy???? BECAUSE I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • sounds like the ripped the horns from I Put a Spell on You by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.........good song, but i hope they credited him........

  • @wickedglamour

yup totally my thoughts immediately!! Not impressed!!

  • this reminds me too much of i put a spell on you

  • @Bzzee That's because they've sampled some of it for their beat(=

  • These guys are opening some serious musical doors...dare I say the Beatles of today?!

  • "The Heavy is heavy" REALLY!?!? THATS THE TOP COMMENT??

  • Copyright Ninja tune. I am not surprised.

  • Comment removed

  • ХОРОЩИЙ!

  • opened a you tube act just to praise the heavy

  • I saw her dancing with the devil And he was wearing my suit Black and white jordan leather And she was looking for abuse Now she looked just like heaven But her mind reek of hell Now, I know I shouldn't be telling But I guess, I guess if you know her well She's the kinda girl She came home, believe me when I say She came home, she's already there Sixteen, and already there, sixteen... Now, what the devil want Believe the devil's gonna get He gonna stretch her out Like a tape in cassette
  • delicious song. great for a dance that i'm choreographing--so controlled/out of bounds. awesome, love this band(:

  • Screamin' Jay Hawkins vibe.

  • I put a spell on you!

  • heard this song and thought of biggie smalls "kick in the door" similar beat to it, great songs the both of them

  • @badmangoodboy Look up Screamin' Jay Hawkins - I put a spell on you, Biggie's I'm pretty sure was sampled from that song. I am a fan of biggies too

  • Hell of a voice. So controlled.

  • I love the video!

  • Lovely song about slutty girls...

  • Brutally honest song ;p surprising statement about society

  • This is sampled from I Put A Spell On You...

  • sounds like biggie - kick in the door

  • @danKelee This is sampled from I Put A Spell On You...

  • These guys deserve to be bigger than Lady Gaga and whatnot.

  • Coney Island

  • sounds like Tom waits + the black keys awesome ! (:

  • @dcdude171

    Tom-Waits=Black-ryder<3<3<3

    check-it-out:)))

  • THERE IS NO ONE WITH ANY MUSIC HISTORY IN THEM IS THERE? It is a standard fucking scale. OMG Don't ever go to a blues site, or you will allllll be lost.

    GOOD LORD>

    Sam

  • I just want to point out that the original I put a spell on you was written in 1956... MANY many bands have done covers on it since then. They did an awesome job.

The heavy is simply amazing!! Love all of their music.

  • It is SOOOOO nice to hear a black artist who doesn't think that whining is soulful. This man can SING. Thank GOD! Black music that is mainstream today is some of the worst music ever and it's a shame because there are amazing artists like this out there who don't feel the need to call women hoes to sell records to little boys.

    Sam

  • Wait a second... Is this Coney island!??!

  • @NairdaTrauts

    Indeed it is.

  • Sounds wierd... but damn this is good

  • Uh, but.. This is just "I put a spell on you" by CCR, with different lyrics.

  • @TechTurtleBeats The original performer of I put a spell on you was Screamin Jay' Hakwins( look for it), and this song is really inspired by that one..

  • @TechTurtleBeats seriously?

  • true they do sound similair to the black keys, allthough these guys seem a bit more playfull soul like....bet they sound even better live

  • We got sixteen year olds acting like they forty year olds

Yo we need to do it and we need to re-clense the souls

I have an idea, lets take rich style high tronic system and we crush em out!!

  • Cant stop listen to this... Just too adictive...

  • Due to my VERY vocal hatred of R n B and all things hip hop, people often call me "anti-black". Thankfully bands like this exist and I love them. Good music.

    Sam

  • i love this song but it bothers me that the drummer is playing right hand traditional on a kit set for a righty and that theres a floor tom (which isnt in the song) and no hi hat or cymbals (which are)

sorrrrryyyyy just the nit picking of a drummer.

  • @wagglemonkey The microphone and guitars are clearly unplugged too, it's not about being nit picky, they didn't miss anything, it's intended, they don't wanna give the traditional look of a rock video with a whole drum set, guitars and amplifiers and what not, it would just ruin the scenery and feel that they want to convey

  • @killjoy545 well then they shoulda gone snare hat bass... it would made sense...

  • Fucking music straight from Heaven!

    awesome!

  • love the screamin jay hawkins tune

  • this guys ar good

  • Thank the lord i found the heavy

  • Why are people acting surprised that samples are being used in all music now days?

Ever heard of the Amen Break?

  • Really starting to like this group real music real singing very refreshing

  • replay...again....and...again

  • I like the song, but I'm troubled by the inherent theme of pedophilia in the words.

  • @brianlbaker they have a different age of consent in euorpe. its sixteen in the UK where they are from.

  • This is Heavy doc

  • @alarum13 thank you very much!! seems nice! =D greetings from Spain :)

  • Increible cancion

  • I love this style of music, black keys also and the white stripes have the singularity sound

  • Really liking how they used Screamin' Jay Hawkins 'I put a spell on you' as the melodic base for the song.

  • Coney Island NYC =)

  • Seen them yesterday on Oranjepop Nijmegen, they were amazing! Especially this song was fun, because the singer asked for the trumpettists from the earlier act, and halfway the song they came to the stage to play it with him! =D

  • @EbiTron Though I don't remember much of it, cause I was getting pretty damn high to this band, it was an amazing night and the band blew me away.

  • this band Sets my mind at ease

  • LOL"I BELIEVE THE DEVIL"S GONE GAY"LOL

  • @ThePapaTyler Prob in the context of "Happy".

  • if you like this kind of music, the black keys are of course amazing,

but i recently discovered 'the stone foxes' with their jack daniels add song: 'i'm a king bee'. this song just blew me away.

  • 0.o

  • Brooklynnnn!!!!!!! Good choice for filming :D

  • They haven't stolen, they have sampled the horn line.

  • so what if a band takes a simple screamin jay hawkins beat and injects a little soul of their own to it. better than most the piss coming from the mainstream nowadays. i do miss jay's howling though.
