skip_shepherd@yahoo.com first i will start with you are totally the king of choppin mercs, i have a 49 and a 50 merc,49 being chopped 5 1/2 inches. yes its low but i took out the ''hump'' in the roof line. it flows like a tear drop,the 50 is going to be a stallone cobra clone ,not chopped.keep up your awesome work.send pic win your done .

@spikemilliganfan It will be a full kustom but i might just leave it in primer. so i guess kinda a rat rod too. I wish i could say i was further along on it, but you know how it goes, life happens. i hope to get more done this winter. still working on getting the doors fitting better. Thanks!!

@CALZOLA Hello, i was fortunate enough to visit france, beautiful country. The original flathead was missing and someone had replaced it with a buick nailhead motor when it was found. That motor was no good and was removed. it now has a 350 olds motor. Thanks!!

@cffnmkr13 i enjoy rockabilly music and the aesthetics of the era. however i do not live in the 50's nor do i care to, it's a better world in many ways now. i use modern technology and have a modern view of the world. a riviera roof on a merc is sacrilege from a design view because it's an angular roof on a rounded body... there's no flow... smooth curved top is the classic choice because it's good design. customizing for the sake of customizing doesn't necessarily make a good custom.

thanks everyone,,wish i could post an update,,but mostly whats been done latley is mechanical. it now has all new brakes and its driveshaft was put back in. Thanks!!

@Curas1 Thanks!! more work has been done, but nothing that really shows much. mostly mechanical stuff and ive been working on rebuilding the door hinges. trying to get the doors to fit better. some colors that have been tossed around are copper or green, but i really havent made up my mind on that. still alot of work to do! your right,,its been a lot of work so far,,and alot more to go. this car was a complete basket case,,it was dragged out of the woods in 1986 after sitting in a small shed (that collapsed on top of it.),,it had been there since 1964.

Thats actually just bare metal, the fenders are stripped down. this was actually just a mock up of the front end. eventually all the fender seams will get welded up and possiblly a front rolled pan with 55 pontiac split bumpers will be used. Thanks

Give it a "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) type of Resto, I say. A nice Metallic Blue would do nicely.
