He seems to be influenced by the Russian balletic tradition, combined with elements of modern dance. He's as beautiful, musical and perfect as Nureyev or Baryshnikov.

Too bad figure skating doesn't offer venues like the ballet does, so that gifted performing artists like this would have a place for their talent.

I watched him grow up, literally. Quite possibly one of the finest male skaters ever, imo. I love his musicality, and his complete command of the ice.

It is so true what many people were saying about him: skating with his heart...and the heart wins!

You can see he was enjoying every second he spent on ice...loved all the competition,the crowd,all of it...

One thing comes to mind: when a year later,sitting in the audience,watching the others compete...ohhhh that look on his face was heartbreaking...

Anyway...nobody will ever come near him!

The only minor glitch was the flip. I don't know why but the triple flip always seems to be the one that causes some issues at the Olympics. In 2006, Plushenko's only real mistake in his LP was doubling his triple flip.

Can't help watching it over and over again. Absolutely love him! What artistry - you could tell the story just watching him, even if you've never heard of the Iron Mask. I can see no rivals to him. Plushenko is talented, has improved his techniques greatly, but he is not an ARTIST, and Yagudin is.
