As for BB vs PL.... it's just different, powerlifters use arches, sumo style deadlifts, knee wraps....etc cause it is within the rules and is helpful. Bodybuilders, shave their bodies, put on tanning stuff, to better show the muscle.The arch is not cheating

Muscle growth is about time under tension. However you have to challenge the muscles during that time. You will tear your muscles more doing say 155lbs for 8 reps (cheating) as opposed to 135lbs for 8 reps (standard form) you are putting your back at a serious risk.
