Ok, the first thing you need to know is that there is no overarching storyline for all of FF, most games are self-contained, but share similar themes, creatures, spells and combat systems. FF7 has nothing to do with FF8, and neither have anything to do with FF9.

FF10 has a sequel called FF10-2, and FF13 followed suit. This game is somehow thematically linked to FF13, but is not a sequel.

Simply put, just treat it as a separate game.

They should have done this battle system back with Final Fantasy XII. I wouldnt say they copied Devil May Cry for this game, even though it looks the same. This battle system already existed with Kingdom Hearts and I think it's simularites will compare to that. Epic Trailer though, cant wait! Has there been hints for realease dates?

@RMalla Exactly, because when you consider the lengths that Square-Enix goes to in making BELIEVABLE characters (aesthetically) who live in worlds with BELIEVABLE backhistories (some of those backhistories being self-sufficient enough to create their own CANON), it's hard to accept that any such 'enthralling universe' born of an ambitious project should result in ANYTHING that revolves around a kid who runs around with Donald Duck and Goofy.

@MrGrandDragon Basically, Kingdom Hearts rocks because there's nothing else like it (save for Dissidia), and I do like its combat system and gameplay mechanics. I just favor Final Fantasy (itself) more than KH because I'm a sucker for overly realistic and colloquial detail. I've seen KH games in action. I like part 2 more than part 1, and I've never played Final Mix, 358/2 Days, or Birth by Sleep. So to answer your question, yes, that was sarcasm, lol. I grew up on Disney too. <3

As much as I hate to admit it the reason it won't come out on xbox is c;lear from just looking at it, first the xbox could never manage to shade such detailed models as say the Behemoth you see shown in this trailer, not in real time. Second compare the quality of this to say FFXIII, that game was put on 3 discs and was fucking tiny thus making it a huge disappointment, this game would have to be put on about 10 discs by the looks of how many cut scenes and the quality of models/textures.

@darkcloudzxz the beginning? Square Enix are known for their stunning CGI, but they could make it more realistic if the characters faces werent so, well, perfect and smooth. Look at Mass Effect 2's CGI trailer, Shepard looks like a real human.

Versus graphics aren't perfect, they're probably out-dated and Noctis in these cutscenes lacks a lot of detail compared to the previous Trailers. They changed his hair and appearence so it was a quick-made model for this Trailer.

they took the batle system from KH to the next level. it seems like you can use the environment to your advantage. (one dude shot a nearby exposive on the dragon) just from the trailer i can see this is gonna be wicked when put on the hardest settings (if there are any) i can't wait>:)

well not only that but the Blu-Ray itself will be stacked it seems as well and that would take 3 discs on the 360 to do which Square-Enix probably doesn't want to do (even though they did bring FFXIII and are bringing XIII-2 over too both systems). Nomura is a know for liking to put his games on Sony's systems as well (but likes Nintendo also hence KH:3D for 3DS he's very pro Japan for developing on systems).
