Hey i am a senior this year and we reaslly want to do this musical this year. problem is we have 38 members and there are only like 23 parts. what did you guys do to make sure everyone got a part? any ideas??
@poisonivey94- You could always have dual cast and run twice as long switching between two cast (giving more chances for people to have the part they want and giving leads a break so they don't wear out their voice)
Or the people who don't get parts can just realize that that's show buisness and work behind the scenes.
Either way is pretty common- I guess it depends on the talent ya'll have and what your teacher can do.

@anibioman It is not illegal to "tape it." Unless you have members of the AEA in your production who refuse to give their consent, which I highly doubt.
@Luv2Dnce4 yes it is. since it was preformed on school grounds the school can say that it cant be taped and they can file a breach of privacy lawsuit against you if you do video tape it.
@anibioman That's your school's decision, then. That's not a rule across the board. Sad that a HS wouldn't allow the students/parents to have a keepsake of the performance.
It also makes it difficult for you to criticize this fabulous rendition, having no proof to back up your claims. Convenient.

hmm....it is isn't it, however....i would like to know, My school is having auditions in a few weeks, they just told us the date yesterday.......just curious, wat would be a good sugestion for a Bass singer......I was thinking possibly the Prince or wolf, but I'm scared of the range......If you would answer It would be greatly appeciated.
Personally, I would suggest the wolf. most guys who do the part have very low voices, and the princes' pieces are for tenors. The baker is a tenor too. The mysterious man may be good for you too, as eingram21 suggests. Good luck with the play!
thanks guys alot. I can easily7 do the wolf, sryr forgot to mention tht I can hit a baritone tenor line......well, most of the baritone, and the lower end of tenor but, thx to michael maresca, I learnt a way to train your voice.
We have a super gay boy in our drama department, and he's playing Cinderellas prince. its gonna be AMAZING. he's already super arrogant and loud so this will be SO easy for him :D
it was ok. I saw a college perform this in mankato minnesota where the princes were better than the professionals. really well done. this one wasn't bad though
That was probably the most hilarious and well-done version of this song I've ever seen! They kept in character, they could act and sing AT THE SAME TIME, and it was incredibly entertaining! I wish I had seen it live!
@virginiarules510 I saw the GVSU version last semester and Oh my gosh, it was funnier even than this. GVSU's younger prince, when he did the bit of Rapunzel's melody, actually went up an octave. It had to be the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. This was also a very well done version too. I really liked the physical actions they do.
This is the best part of the musical. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Into The Woods (I don't like the repeated use of the major second interval... kind of boring), but this song has a lot of potential.

i love this. i watched it in choir class. and my besties did fer our choir show, they did really good.

This is the best part of the musical. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Into The Woods (I don't like the repeated use of the major second interval... kind of boring), but this song has a lot of potential.
