I wish I had seen your videos when I took my critical thinking class this past summer. Although, I pulled an A, you make potentially complex constructs crystal clear. Excellent examples too. Are you a teacher or a writer? If not, you have missed your calling.
Thanks for the video. My experience is that many people believe things because either their interests are involved, or their belief makes them 'feel good'. I do not exempt myself from this equation, but I hope I sometimes make the effort to be objective.
Good to see someone making intelligent and thoughtfull vlogs on youtube, it doesn't happen often. I think you're doing a great job. (Btw, after looking at your audience statistics, at 18 I'm probably one of your youngest viewers.) :D
This is quite the series thus far, although I have utterly failed to watch them in any semblance of order :) I admire your enthusiasm and wit, and look forward to more. In brief, you're pretty awesome
Both my parents a politican's. :( i know they get a bad wrap but politicians on average are as decent as the your average person. I think society and the media with good reason focuses on there short comings giving you a poor sample of there actual behavior. Causing you to perhaps make a hasty generalisation :P
Politicians may personally be decent, but in the US political campaigns are now based almost entirely on what is called negative campaigning, which consists of ad hominem attacks. It isn't a hasty generalization. It is based on decades of observing massive amounts of political advertising. It may be different where you are, but there is plenty of evidence for my characterization in US politics at the local and federal levels.
Did you pay any attention to the 2008 US presidential campaign?
My field of expertise is flatulencology, I am a certified flatulencist, therefore, I know when someone is just blowing hot air or when it is the real thing.......oh yes, my self-certification was unanimous!
I searched to see if anyone else had used the pun, but found many videos titled or tagged "fallacio" when they meant "fellatio". I guess I should stop being surprised at the level of ignorance in the world.
Field of authority... holy crap! As soon as you mentioned that person's name at 15:16 I was feeling compelled to bring up her name in this comment. LOL
Oh, don't get me started...!
Fung Shui... my place is such a mess right now that it probably qualifies as Dung Shui.
This fallacio a day stuff is cool. I'm not an authority, tho, so I have little more to add.
Hold on there, pilgrim. Who said a Fallacio a day? This was a holiday weekend and I had more time. I will cover as many fallacies as I can, but spread out over more time. In re-watching this one it seems way too long. I think the others will be more concise.
Awesome video. You're very wise and an excellent speaker and communicator. Not many intellectual vloggers express themselves as effectively as you do. Keep it up!

Who invented the word logic?
SunnyStorm21 2 years ago
@SunnyStorm21 The word itself derives from the Greek logos, meaning reason.
Aristotle was the first to consider logic a formal discipline.

Are you a professor of philosophy, Fantastic?

No. I am an amateur, so I would not recommend accepting me as an authority.

Luckily the stupidity of Sarah Palins remarks
align perfectly with her actual stupidity.

Oh, I agree. Fortunately most of her remarks are stupid on their own merits.

The title still cracks me up... I wonder how many people get what word that sounds like

XD
yea... but then again, I'm surprised people even know what fellatio, or as they spelled it, fallacio, means.
They might spell it like that, because of the sound of the word... which makes it more of an innocent ignorance
