  • jesus christ superstar <3

  • bee gee's version is much better

  • I won't settle for second best, don't want the rest.

If I can't have you, I won't have anybody. Nothing is better than anybody.

  • thanks for the bio. awesome

  • Yvonne is a good singer, but nothing beats a composer's version - that of bee gees themselves-along with the orchestra - it's flawless.

  • where the synth?

  • disco-music was good music. there was no evil in this kind of music. disco-music was pure love. thats why they killed disco-music +.+

  • @MisterHermanMudget YES!, the disco era was & IS still such a powerful and inspiring time on so many levels. Disco music and disco balls will shine forever!!!

  • Catchy, but this version does reveal just how much the studio version relied on some slick production values to make the song sound more lush and full.

  • I wish Disco would make a big come back so bad. It would bring love back to the US> We could all go out dancing, and my it would be the healthiest move for America.

  • @whitesoxfanforsure YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!! I agree 125%!

  • after all these years hearing this song..i thought she was black? what a lovely song with that motown feel,

  • Great song. Very tough to do Disco without the strings/orchestra. It does not sound like Disco when it's live.

I give them an A for effort!

  • She looks like Maya Rudolph

  • @LBMAAS I thought the same thing when I started watching this.

  • -The orchestra is terrible

  • @peter455sd Lol there isnt one to speak of in the first place. This song is usually accompinied with strings

  • Is she asian?

  • @itsjustnopinionok Irish and Chinese/ Japanese!

  • Most life in this beautiful version of "f I Can't Have You"!

  • I miss the 70s. Was going to school back then.

  • Someone had themselves a little bumpity bump before going on

  • look at all the clothes women use to wear during performances

  • WHAT A SOUNDTRACK !!!

  • Great song. Thanks for posting. maurice

  • Yvonne was HOT!

  • Listen to the SOUL in these disco records WOW

  • Billy Connolly on sax......

  • Fun fact: the band was called fat guys in tan pants

  • awesome, this is dreamy song

  • too much red !!

  • Great to hear a live version of my favourite Saturday Night Fever Song. Yvonne's voice makes the song. The Bee Gees version does not even come close.

  • if i can't have you, i don't want nobody baby...

  • It's a classic sound...and Yvonne IS babilicious...schwing...!

  • Very good, I love this music.

  • She is gorgoues and this song is great but she doesnt move...her back up singers move more than she does.... ...not a performer ,.beautiful woman, great song none the less.

  • i love 70s!!!

  • Love Yvonne

  • Disco was always hard to do live because of the string sections etc which took almost a stadium to do correctly. That's why these smaller live versions have a more rock sound to them.

  • a great voice......................

  • what nationality is she? she's much older than she looks, i think. gives hope to forty something s everwher.

  • @kimberkley she has an american nationality, because she was born and grew up in hawaii. but her father is Irish and her mom is half Japanese half Chinese.

  • @kimberkley She's an American born in Hawaii (like Obama)

  • @echomedia You mean Obummer was born in Kenya right?!?

  • LOL! I know this video is from 1978, but that dude on the guitar looks like Ron Jeremy did in the 90's. :-D

  • great song...loved it then + now too!

  • What ever happened to Yvonne Elliman?

  • if i was brave enough, this may be hard song to sing ....BUT x factor . oh yes....a great Song to sing ...for X factor contestant

  • Absolutely MARVELLOUS!!!

  • Does anyone know what Yvonne Elliman's background is? She sounds like she might be Hispanic, but looks like she's part Asian.

  • @70Kenny She's half Irish, one quarter Japanese, one quarter Chinese, and was born in Hawaii, i.e., American.

  • @AphroditeOnTop i.e, a MESS! You're saying???

  • the trumpet guy looks like my favourite comedian, Billy Connely

  • @clipbrowser trumpet or sax(ophone)?

  • @heliojam1962 the sax :)

  • siiiiii

  • I was an itty bitty baby when this song topped the charts. I was like "If I Can't Have Goo Goo"... LOL.

  • This is disco at its very best...it's my favourite song of all time!!!

    Thanks Yvonne...thanks Bee Gees...

  • omg she made her own beats nice

  • Comment removed

  • Some women just can't help being beautiful even if they try not to be. That's the wackiest outfit I've seen her wear but she still looks like a goddess.

  • Great talent and great style!

  • i didnt know billy connelly played the sax.... ;o)

  • She's so beautiful - and hearing this gem live is a real treat. You know an artist can really sing when you hear a heavily played song live. Thanks for sharing!

  • ouch...I'm feeling this asian mix...hot

  • Thanx for uploading! I love this song it reminds me of my youth...she has such a beautiful voice, heck she's a beautiful woman! She is amazing. This live version seemed kind of fast. I llove live performances from back in the day where they actually sang. What's funny though is she looks like she's higher than a kite in alot of these videos but still hits it right on the money! LOL! ;)

  • ahhh it needs strings

    Gudea

  • I want that sax player's shirt.

  • IT KEEPS GETTING BETTERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FREESTYLE FOR EVER!!!! THXXX.XOXO

  • This is such a classic .. check the writer's version of this song THE BEE GEES

  • She's 1/2 Irish, 1/2 Japanese...ALL BABE.

  • @rtghffdfdg , 1/2 Irish, 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 Chinese

  • @rachelazw Oh, well, you get my point. She's a babe!

  • for sure you can tell this is live. not like some of the singers nowadays

  • Comment removed

  • Seems like that second verse snuck up on her a little bit. Too much scat can leave you winded. I like at the end where she turns around and counts the band down, though.

  • That is one FAAAAAAAAAABULOUS dress!!!

  • all this looks strange. Mumle mumle dididadaa.. funny faces.. eyes wide open..

  • Nice Disco song..and nice Eyes

  • Great song...I love her cute face as well!

  • Total one hit wonder.

  • @readynow12345 , no, this was not her only hit. She also had big hits with "Love Me," "Hello Stranger" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him."

  • Excellent performance

  • "Yvonne Elliman" - "If I Can't Have You"

    Valeu amigos,

  • this song is SOOOOO nice

  • the guitarist remind me of dan from roseanne. great song though.

  • She is fantastic

  • The sax player looks like my maths teacher from school in

    the 70's

  • bee gees all the way!!!!!

  • Who is the backing band? The Uncomfortable White Boys?

  • Dance 70's de Brasil...

  • jake "the snake" roberts on the saxophone.....lol

  • @MrRingo525 Your a dumb-ass! I mean that in a good way! LMAO! Thought he was gonna DDT her after the song! lol.

  • Thank God i grew up in the 80's and got to know the 70's , because a beautiful and talentes woman like Yvonne can't be found these days .

  • The times when talent was real talent and there were not chatty-singy dolls with plastic faces. We miss those days.

  • now this is what a voice is supposed to sound like without all these jacked up gadgets they have these days to make no singing singers sound like they know how to sing!

  • Ron Jeremy on the guitar. Lmao !!

  • Yvonne....you were and are still awesome!!!! I love this song.

  • Linda musica

  • O GOD she is so BEAUTIFUL and I LOVE this song!!

  • before auto-tune, obviously ;)

  • She's just a lovely lady and a very real and sweet voice. I know a woman who's a singer today, a friend, a lot like Yvonne. Sweetly honest and imperfect, and her heart's in it. Love them both!

  • @El135o not just a sweet voice - THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL!

  • This is an awesome song. Love it!

  • She reminds me of Mariah Carey (not vocally, but looks).

  • Ah, the 70s -- where did they go?:)

  • @stevevandien they left just after 1979 ;

  • Disco was such heavily produced music it was hard to recreate the sound from the record album. So when I say they are off, I just mean that she really should have had a full orchestra to do this song right.

  • Yvonne sounds great here but the band is a bit off.

  • @DA90027 i think you're confusing the band being off, which they' aren't , with the fact the song sounds different when it's live, because the song is a little sped up due to the fact that it's just that..LIVE ..i'm a professional musician and have been for over 25 yrs..and trust me ..the band is not off..

  • Que pasó con esta gran cantante?

  • The guitar player in the blue shirt with the handsome "Sack-Tickler" moustashe should be hiding, but he looks really proud to be in the forefront! Very nice "Bone-Broom" there buddy!

  • One song I never get tired of thanks to Yvonne's awesome voice and the BeeGees superb songwriting!

  • i love the 70 looks songs and dances awsome

  • funny shit man..

im a die hard metal fan but i made this my song for me and my gf lol

  • dude urr soooooo fucking whipped now. im going to tell everyone at school now.

  • She has a great voice.

  • This was my song in the 70s!! YES YES !!

  • man, Midnight Special and Don Kirsherner's Rock Concert were my access to seeing groups, solo artists and comedians on t.v. A time gone by. Shoot! I feel old remembering those shows. thanks for posting tho.

  • beautiful song!

  • saxonphonist looks like an overweight Billy Connolly!

  • She's only 26 there, looks 15 years older.

  • Tempo is to fast!

  • Great song...terrible performance.

  • I did not realise that this song was written by the BeeGees, no wonder it is sooooooooo good. Thx Boys.

  • @ajbeeful yeah the Bee Gees is responsible for most of the written material on the Saturday Night Track album, some written and performed by them and some just written but peformed by other artists. They also wrote Samantha Sung's "Emotion" on that album...which would become one of the few slow tender balads by Destiny's Child in 2001.

  • This is a great song and hits so hard on my home-front!

  • Another song written by the Bee Gees, wow!! They just dominated this decade... and then some. They also continued songwriting success into the early '80s with "Islands In the Stream."

Anyway.. love this song. Yvonne's a very good singer, too bad she didn't have more chart success.

  • The 60's too. :)

  • @tygersflowerz Asian musicians would be beyond controversial. If you thought rock and roll was bad, imagine all the Hollywood Chinatown secrets spilling out?! All the kids had to get stoned. Soberly confronting their establishment relatives would put their whole family legacy at risk same as happened recently with GW Bush. That's why Good Shepard Grandpas were turning Trench Coat Mafia into Apt Pupil in the 90's. Glorified Manchurian Candidates. Can't have Quiet Riot @M Manson's birthday party.

  • @tygersflowerz , I agree. The last several days, I've been listening to Yvonne's "Love Me" (also written by the Bee Gees) over and over and over again. I LOVE that song! And this one.

  • If I can't have you

    I don't want nobody babe

    Nobody

    Nobody

    If I can't have you

    I don't want nobody babe

    Nobody

    Nobody

  • der Song erinnert mich an meine Jugend- geil

  • Very cool hearing her do this live. The music though (sadly) is missing the strings which were definitely what makes the song sound so big!

  • agreed

  • agree too

  • This was a fun time. I was about 8 years old and all I could think of was the band KISS but my sister danced on American Bandstand and i had to suffer with disco through out the house. Now I'm an old dude and i love this shit. LoL...

PS: She's kind of hot too :o)

  • Damn~ I also did the 'I loved KISS & now I like this disco shit'. I still love KISS though.

  • she reminds of Filipino singer/actress Giselle Sachez. The face and the voice kind a similar. Thnx for posting and have a great day.

  • why does this song have an amazingly fun affect on me.. i wasn't even around during this ERA.. I would like to think that my mama played this alot during her pregnancy... cause i hear this and i am lifted high with joy..

  • Wow, an actual live version! Awesome!

  • I love this song. Yvonne Elliman also played Mary Magdelan in "Jesus Christ Superstar". She is an amazing talent.

  • my aunt middle on the left .. aunt pat

  • Now thats cool. She looks good.

  • What the F is she wearing?Show off your body a bit please

  • That's one seriously funky looking band she's got there...wonder who they are :-D

  • Was this song originally a Bee Gees song or an Yvonne Elliman song?

  • screaming dean, written by the Bee Gees for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

    Great song.

  • a Bee Gees song recorded by Gibb brothers and by Elliman too for Saturday Night Fever

  • Fantastic.

  • great song

  • Adam Lambert's version is so amazing though!

  • she is beautiful

  • never like the studio song

  • Lovely voice and face!

  • Love this classic song just great.

    Thankyou.

    Fantastic.

  • I've noticed she always sings it a lot faster live than in the recording.

  • Still the best version of this song.

  • i have loved this song, i like now again

  • Is she asian?

  • She is from my hometown of Hawaii. She is Part Irish & Japanese/Asian so yeah you can say she asian and being that she is born in Hawaii we fall under Asian.

  • I thought you fell under pacific islander...being that Hawaii is a pacific island.

  • 1/2 Irish, 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 Japanese

  • wow! adam is great for choosing this song he is genius (in my own opinion only!) bahala kayo... apektado nmn kayo...

  • The first time I have ever heard this song performed live. Thanks for posting it. Yvonne is really a good singer and this song has always been my favourite on the SNF soundtrack.

  • I miss the 70's soooo much. Grass and coke were readily available and nobody was uptight about free love. Then Reagan and the moral majority turned the US into the shitty place it is now.

Let's hope Obama can help remove the giant bug from Americas ass once and for all. You kids today need to get a clue.

  • I'm 15, and I agree with you 100% of the way, I Love the Oldies and Motown period

  • Um..This is DISCO music.

  • Love it! One of the best songs on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and of the 70s!

  • Now thats what I call a REAL live performance. No lip synching. Totally... Wait for it.... AWESOME!!!

  • All this really needs is some reverb and other echo effects

  • I don't get why 2 guitars when you even can't hear either one. All you hear out of the string section is bass. LOL. Adam picked a good song to redo, there's no comparison to it. Besides she come out with it thirty years his prior so why say he did it better when she's the original person to base his influence off of? I don't get that one.

  • It's so refreshing to hear an actual live rendition rather than lyp-synching performance, even if it is inferior to the studio version.

  • Wow, adam lambert is genius!
