Hey--the more yoga, the better!! I would repeat the entire 4 parts for 30-40 mins or however long it takes you. This will give you a more comprehensive workout and give you more results. To really burn calories, you should do 60 minutes of vigorous yoga 4-5 times a week! So if you want to see more results, amp it up, watch what you eat, and have fun!...Sadie
hey sadie...i tried your routine... and i think its super great.... however... ive got a confusion about the 30 minutes bit... do i have to repeat this one sequence for thirty minutes or the entire sequence?? because the entire sequence takes about 40 minutes at least... and also.. since i have always been into sports.. my muscles are quite developed.. but are recently under a stubborn layer of fat on the legs, bum and arms.... any suggestion??? please help...
If it takes you 40 minutes, even better--you'll get more yoga and therefore, more results. Do the whole sequence, 4-5 times a week, or yoga that's the equivalent intensity of this for your body. This will help with the fat loss, but you'll also have to watch your calorie intake. Good luck! Sadie
1. Ive heard that one should not couple yoga with any other form of exercise like running or aerobics. Is it true, as far as you know? Apparently yoga loses its point if you do so.
2. Are the results seen quickly, its usually a slow process. I need to tone my body, have eight months till my 21st Bday. Since I have a breathing problem, I had to discontinue the gym.
If you eat healthfully, and not enough to gain lots of weight, then this yoga will tone and firm your muscles and define them. Diet and exercise go hand in hand, so make sure you're doing both...and you'll look and feel amazing. xoSadie
Yoga can make you a little taller, since it stretches the muscles around your skeleton, but I can't promise how much. You have the best shot at height, though, with yoga. I hope that you can release your height as a deep insecurity, and instead, enjoy being alive, lucky to be able to move, and rock who you are. Most actresses are about 5'2...most models are 5/10, and they both are role models. ...whatever your look is. Make it fabulous. xoSadie
Yes, it's a vigorous exercise, so with any exercise, you'll feel winded at first. Make sure to take deep, slow breaths through the nose, and rest in Child's Pose whenever you need a moment. With practice, you'll build up to the full routine. Have fun, and play your edge. Sadie
It's a kicker, but it will transform you!! You'll be the one laughing in 3 months when you've lost a ton of weight. And yes, you'll still bat for the same team. I promise;)
sadienardini!! I've never done yoga. You think is a good idea to start through the excercises on your videos? Sorry for my English my native language is Spanish. Thanx!
I started this today and really like it and hope I can build up to the full hour soon. But I also have a more mellow yoga video that I've used that is super opening and relaxing, but doesn't push me in the core nearly as much. I know you say to do yoga 3-4 times/week, but is it okay to alternate days between this powerful yoga and my other more relaxing yoga? They seem like they would go well together if you didn't think it was too much yoga. I'm still a bit of a beginner. Thanks!!
this workout is great, however, i cant do it anymore! my muscles have become totally lethargic and i lack all energy to hold the poses. to begin with, i did yoga 5 times a week, for just 20 mins, then dropped down to 3 times a week doing 30 mins slots, but now i just cant do any of it! is there a reason why or am i doing something wrong? i would have thought it would have got easier, lol. thank you for posting though!
Hi, i am 17 years old. When i was 15 i had a great body, but then i started to increase weight(maybe because i changed the city, the school and the stress helped me to increase these weight..) and now i have to lose 10 kilograms to have a great body again. I think that the yoga is the best way to lose weight, so can u tell me which one of your videos to do,how often and am i do some diet? Thanks in advance! /sorry if there are mistakes in the comment, but my english is not very good/ :)
I love the way you incorporate more movement in the Sun Salutation. I used to practice yoga a few years ago & want to begin again, but this fantastic instructor I used to go to has unfortunately moved away.
I want to lose some extra weight & I think I'm going to use the vids you've posted on YT. My question is: can I do this 4 part weight-loss video 5 times a week, or is that too much?
I have many other videos you can fill in with if you want more variety--check em out under SadieNardini (one word) --it's my channel on YT. Have fun! Sadie
Yoga raises your metabolism all day long, because it builds muscle at the same time it's burning calories. You WOULD sweat if you did this practice in a warm room, and definitely in my classes;) xoSadie
Depending on your diet, you will see results the fastest with this style of yoga than any other...so eat healthy, not too much, and you should start to see muscle tone in a few days, weight loss in a couple of weeks.
Hmmm...anyone else having this problem? I'm not much help--ask the You Tube help center, maybe? You can do the Core Warm Up or Core Strength for Beginners or even the Core Sun Salutations videos instead...
I think the body is capable of cleansing itself on a healthy diet, and also, it's good to fuel your body's processes like the brain and metabolism on a daily basis so it doesn't lower...I see a lot of people fast, then gain weight right back after because the metabolism lowered and then stored what they ate next. I'm not convinced about fasting....
Hi Sadie! I'm going to do this in a few hours, but I'm wondering... My hands are really weak so when I lean on them, it really hurts. Is there anything that I can do when it comes to that? Also, I don't have a yoga mat yet, is it okay to do it on a plaid?
Use your fingertips grounding way into the ground, and stay down on your knees or one knee if there's too much pressure on your wrists. I would get a yoga mat--you don't want to slip and hurt yourself. Or bare feet on a wood floor can be OK, but too hard for your wrists I bet. Watch for my Healthy Yoga Wrists video coming this week!
I came upon your weight loss video online, and I was wondering if you can give me some advice. I'm 5'0, and last time I weighed myself I was 175 lbs. I'm hoping to lose 40 lbs over the summer before I go back to college. I was wondering about how many calories I need for this workout, and what type of calories. I already try to eat as healthy as I can, but hearing some expert advice always helps.
You can go to SelfMagazine online and do their calorie counter for your weight, activity level, etc. Read my posts above for a more in-depth idea of what to do to lose weight.
you are a cool chick and have so much charisma. also the yoga is hard but nicely paced. Thank you so much. I'm working in India and it's my only way of doing exercise (i haven't been to an ashram yet..i know shameful and so lazy) but i'm doing this every morning and feel great.
Hi Sadie, I'm going to start this workout tomorrow morning, and I was wondering how fast you see results? I want to pair it with doing this in the morning and pilates in the evening. I'm graduating from college in three weeks and want to look my best, or at least on the way to looking my best. Any advice on how to see results fast but without overexerting myself?
You could also do my Abs Transformer video, I have a few for the core, that might give you better results than Pilates. Anyway, do this workout 4-5 times a week for now, eat cleanly [lots of veggies, lean protein, a little fat like good cheese or olive oil dressing, nuts....], drink water, no fake sugar diet products or drinks, and you'll look amazing.
Yeah...life is to be enjoyed, and so is food! Release trying to control, and embrace being well-nourished, strong and happy! Make space for other things, and people, you love, and do yoga less, to live more.
You should be intaking 2500 calories a day at LEAST to fuel your basic body workings [1200 calories] and then eat more to buffer your metabolic systems from being harmed. Right now, it doesn't sound like you're eating nearly enough to fuel this workout style, so you will begin to eat away at your tissues, organs, brain, etc. If you're going to work out this hard, I want you to eat properly, or mood swings will turn into disease and body breakdown. Please eat more...or move less.
I am currently doing Yoga at a local yoga centre. We do almost 2hrs exercises and nearly 50 suryanamaskaars(Sun Salutations) plus 45mins of basic aerobics.. currently on fruits n boiled vegetables.. do u think is enough?
Hoe many times a week do you do this, and how many calories would you say you take in per day? I'm not seeing much protein here, which are the building blocks of your muscles, organs, and brain. For me, this amount of exercise is overwhelming to the body, and could deplete you if not nourished with a proper diet. What you're on now seems way too restrictive. Are you happy? Strong? Healthy? Then it's fine.
I really love the yoga's you posted. Thanks for all. I am somewhat overweight and want to lose around 20 lbs. Could you suggest me the best time to practice your weight loss yoga's? and also any special food habits to be maintained with these?
Any time you make time is a good time to practice--there's not one that's better, in my opinion. Read all my comments above and you'll get a good idea of what to eat to lose or maintain a lean body weight. Good luck!!
I was over on iYogalife and I've noticed that a lot of the older entries aren't working--including your Core Power Hour. It says that there is a "500 Internal Server Error."
Is it just my computer or is it a problem being resolved?
A great way to strengthen that wrist is to do yoga on it, and use your fingertips a lot, so you get stronger. If you fractured it, and it's healed, then the bones should be much stronger than they were before--that's how bones heal. It's your muscles that are weak, most likely. so put your knees down, work with the fingertips grounding down and work up to full strength over time. xoSadie
do 45-60 minutes, 3-4 times a week of yoga that makes you sweat like this kind, and watch your calorie intake [never less than 1200, preferably 1500-1700 per day, and you'll lose weight superfast with yoga. It's up to your body type, but I promise you, you will transform, for good since you're toning muscle and therefore raising your metabolism. Good luck! xoSadie
i found your videos few days ago (unfortunately :)). They're really great and the instructions you give just make it easier to follow the exercises.
I have a question, though: I'm not really looking for to lose weight, i just want to get more flexible and gain more strength. Are these videos still the right thing for me or should i try something else?
YES...this is a great practice to keep you fit and flexible. Also, try my Power Hour in 6 parts for a holistic practice including more flexibility! xoSadie
Hi, I was wondering where the other 3 parts are, I can't find them on your channel.
I've always dabbled in yoga, and since starting my yoga (aka sentient or sattvic) diet I've thought I should follow a proper routine. So if the other parts aren't available, could you suggest another set of your vids good for cardio? x
I am a 24 years old and I have trying to loose 30 lbs within 3 months. I have tried so many different things, but cant just take those pounds off. I just came across this video, and I would like to try this. Will I be able to reach my target of losing 30 lbs, and how should I eat, as my calorie intake..I weigh 140 lbs and am 5" tall.
do 45-60 minutes, 3-4 times a week of yoga that makes you sweat like this kind, and watch your calorie intake [never less than 1200, preferably 1500-1700 per day, and you'll lose weight superfast with yoga. Ive been doing this workout about two days a week for about a month and I can barely finish the 3rd clip. Its pretty tough, what would you say is the level of this? also this is great video thanks
Hi there, I'm new at yoga and I'd like to lose a lot of weight. If I keep on doing this routine for 3-4 times a week should it work? When do you think I can notice results? Loved your video!

why don't you focus on being strong and capable in your yoga practice rather than trying to look like a skinny boy? Guys don't really like that...but if you eat healthy, 1500-1700 calories a day usually, and do yoga 45-60 mins 3-4 times a week, you'll look as great for your body type. Be beautiful, and don't seek perfection. Ain't no such thing.
I'm so happy to hear this! Congratulations for sticking with it, and now seeing the benefits, moving into a lifetime of more happiness, and calm strength. And thanks for sharing your process with people like you who might be wondering if this is a practice for them.
Make sure you're eating enough (more than 1200 calories a day), you get your thyroid checked to make sure its functioning properly and you're doing a regular yoga practice. Don't drink diet sodas. They contain neurotoxins. If none of that works, see your doctor. This can be a sign of many things. Let me know!! xoxoSadie
What you're feeling is resistance from a body that's tighter now than it will be if you continue with your practice. It doesn't let you move as much as I can in the video...YET. I think you just need to keep going, and you'll see, you will be waving into waterfall warrior in no time;} xoxoSadie
Hi there! If nothing hurts, keep doing what you're doing. As inner thighs get stronger, you'll feel them some, but you'll really feel it at the glutes and hamstrings. What's "weird" feeling--painful? tight? Clarify this for me and I'll letcha know.
You're lucky--your metabolism is young, and high. Eat healthy, and drink juice, seltzer with lemon or water. aim for 1500 calories a day from good sources and do an hour of yoga 3-4 times a week. You should lose 15 lbs in a month and a half or so if you're really dedicating to this. Don't get too skinny, though, it's not cute;)
Do the whole 1-4 parts power hour, 3-4 times a week. You can practice any pose during menses, unless you don't feel like it--then don't. that's just a myth.
hi sadie, i wanted to know how many days shall i practice this particular lvl b4 going to the next one? and is thr anything like u shudnt practice it during the menses?
Hello! I've seen your videos on yoga, I'm 13 (male) and I guess I've just started puberty, I weigh around 55kg or lower and im only 5'4.
I'm getting a little heavier slowly over time, and I'm hoping to get a normal body look by summer with all the trip to the beach and stuff and I was wondering if it will put me into shape by summer next year? (2009)
I've been doing this for about a week now and it's been great! After the first couple of times my body was so sore afterwards- which was good :). I noticed straight away that i need to stretch more after my runs- my legs are so tight, esp in my hamstrings. I just have one question- is power hour, just this workout doubled, or the one posted that is for beginners?
Hey, that's great! Thanks for letting me/us know;)
The Power Hour is in 4 parts, so look for 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4 and 4 of 4. They make a whole sequence for the whole body. Do the hour 3-4 times a week for best results. Have fun! xoxoSadie
I was just wondering if you recommend starting off with "Weight Loss Yoga" for someone who has never really done yoga before? (Ie: me!) Would it be easy enough for me to follow along?
I read some of the replies you've given others- do this work out 3-4 times a week plus power hour once a week? Is that right? Also i try to run 5-6 days a week- do you recommend do this in conjunction with that?
If you run, you're strong enough to do this--work into the challenging poses as far as you can. Over time, they'll open for you. I would replace a day of running with this Power Hour, not do both on any given day, you'll be doing too much and tearing down. I'd add on my Yoga for Runners video too...
I'd do this type of strong yoga for 1 hour 4 times a week and eat 1500 calories a day, max for 6 days then one day eat freely. That should do it--worked for me!
ven a glass of juice in the am is better than nothing, so see if that helps. She's also going through puberty and she's certainly not heavy by any means, so teach her healthy, stable eating habits now. And a mon/daughter yoga session three times a week for 30 mins would do her body [and self-image] a world of good. You're the parent...lead the way into her soluttion, and tell her I said so too;) Please let me know how it's going. xoSadie
My daughter is 12 turning 13 in February and she is feeling self- conscious of her body. She and I have noticed that she is starting to gain a little. She eats about 1500 calories a day. She weighs 96 pounds and is about 4 ft 8 in. She doesn't play any sports and doesn't eat healthy food or junk food. She eats lunch, dinner, and a snack. She doesn't eat breakfast though. How is she gaining? What do you reccomend me to do? Should she try these excercises? Please help! Thank you!
1500 calories a day is pretty OK, but breakfast gets the metabolism running, so if she's eating no breakfast, then she'll be more likely to have a lower, slower metabolism all day long, and store more fat. If the body intakes more than about 500 cals at one sitting, it also tends to store. Watch what she's drinking.. do you count those liquid calories? [continued below]
Can you give me a few words on how to work in down dog pose so that my heels sink to the floor. I have a good strong straight back posture in this pose, but can't get my heels to the ground. What is your advice?
Draw your navel into your body in the pose, and lengthen your tailbone towards the floor [keep the natural low back curve in though] -- your heels will go down lower. Usually though, we're now trying to keep the heels a little lifted, since heels to the ground can be too much stretch and cause Achilles tendon problems and foot pain. So a little lift is good!
im doing the weigh loss yoga since friday , and some things are really hard for me :S,like i dont know, i lose like balance , its really hard , but im gonna keep trying,I never thought that yoga will make me feel this good .And only im doing it a few days ago.
I've been doing yoga for about 15 years, but I was pretty decent at it after two.
And most yoga stretches you, but it;s best to do a type that also heats you up and works your muscles, so they stretch better. Most of my poses do both at the same time, which is why it's effective.
and an hour of barbara curries yoga. how often should i practice your videos in a week and which ones are best for weight loss? what would you recommend for a healthy diet? how much should one workout in a day to lose fat?
You can also read my replies on my Yoga for Weight Loss, and all the Power Hour posts. I would do the whole Power Hour 3 times a week, and workout 4-5 days a week for an hour. fresh Fruits and veggies, salads, a little olive oil/balsamic vinegar dressing, lean meats, a little red wine if you drink, seltzer with lemon, tea, yogurt, string cheese, brown rice and quinoa for grains. Eat 1500 calories per day or less and do one cheat day per week. Start here! Let me know how you do xoS
See my reply above, but for you I would say, if you really want to see results, more than you want to stay the same, you'll find the time. It's only 3-4 hours per week....aren't you worth that? [please say yes;)]
It really depends how you eat and how much you dedicate to this workout. If you eat 1500 calories per day, max, with one cheat meal per week, then do 4 days of yoga for 1 hour [hard yoga]], you will lose it as fast as you can for you. But I will say, this type of yoga is one of the best or transforming the body the fastest, so you're in the right place. Good luck!
hi, i'm taking yoga classes for about 3 weeks now. my shoulders and arms have been hurting really badly. i have long, lanky arms. i used to run a lot, but that's it - i have never put stress on my arms. so the downward dog pose and basic vinyassa flow concepts are really hard for me.
is pain this long normal? how long does it generally take for the body to get used to stuff like vinyassa flow?how can i tell i'm doing the downward dog pose properly without a mirror? great vids!
How often do you do yoga? Are you giving your body 1-2 days off between classes to repair? Lastly, is the pain in one spot or all over your arms? It sounds like muscle soreness which needs time off or it will stay torn down. Your muscle growth lasts 5-7 days, so you do not need to work them every day...but let me know! As for Down Dog, ask your teacher to look at it for you before class. Stay lifted in your arms and shoulders though. Many teachers don't know that.
thanks! i'll try this out. it doesnt look exausting either, (as i have chronic fatigue syndrome) and i've gain weight since i got it.. thanks again!:)
You can certainly modify the poses by putting your knee or knees down, rest in Child's Pose, and don't go so far into all the poses. Go at your pace, and grow your practice over time.
ROCK ON!!! How great to hear this. Thanks for letting us know that this yoga really works. And congratulations. Your dedication is paying off in real personal power. Keep it up, and keep us in the loop! Namaste, Sadie
Thank you so much for making this! I'm really enjoying it. One question though-when I do the first leg lift up(the one without square hips), I get cramps on the outside of my hip where it connects to my leg- am I doing something wrong, or are my muscles just not up to it yet? Thanks once again!
That pose can often cramp the hip, but the cramping actually helps to release the muscle more when you do the next pose, which is a stretch for that area. If the crampy feeling doesn't go away by the next pose, then don't do that leg lift. But It should be fine. xo! Have fun, Sadie
I'm only just beggining to look into yoga and unfortunately can't seem to find any yoga studio or instructor in my area...so this is all I can rely on at the moment. I think I'll start by trying to work on the postures each by each before trying the whole workout though, don't wanna pull something.
I am a Newbie, overweight, muscles very shortened from inactivity. Would like to regain my health (Physically) Have done extensive EFT for emotional issues and am ready to start bodywork, Yoga.Beginner. Any reccomendations on where to start(Scary thought but desp need!) You seem to be most educated, competent on this site. Very corrageous of you to offer your expertise for others to learn from...Namaste..ThanX Debi
My first recommendation to you, beyond the yoga, is to change your email tagname to something that empowers you. Let nothing--thoughts, actions, usernames...feed the shadow energy that you, I and we all carry as a part of us, but rather acknowledge that it's there, and turn towards the light. That's where my courage comes from, because god knows could go the other way easily. As for yoga, try my Core Strength for Beginners video, and then do the Rodney Yee DVD Yoga for Beginners too
There is a great Patricia Walden Yoga for Beginners and one by Paula Tursi. Then, try the Yoga for Weight Loss Power Half Hour sequence here, and/or get my Core Strength Vinyasa YOga Power Hour DVD on Amazon. Let me know what you think, and remember...being your true strong self requires a shift of perspective, a choice and rewriting, then living a new story that you decide it to be. No one else will do that for you, but the good thing is no one has the power to take it away, either. Rock on, S
Your right, I Have lots of thoughts of sadness and death. And I like to dress in black because it matches my mood. so What your saying is there is a energy that we can change ??
I did mantras om laxmi or something
and when i am done chanting my mood changes.
so can you tell me anyway i can change this shadow energy ?
Sure! Look, there's plenty of time to be sad in life...when sad things happen. Otherwise, turn your attention towards the goodness, the possibility and play in life, and make sure to delight in the sweetness of it along with the sadness. Life will be over soon enough, so use your time towards your passions and taking actions that change your mood into something empowering for you. Why? Why not?

Yoga raises your metabolism all day long, because it builds muscle at the same time it's burning calories. You WOULD sweat if you did this practice in a warm room, and definitely in my classes;) xoSadie

Which came first?
Depending on your diet, you will see results the fastest with this style of yoga than any other...so eat healthy, not too much, and you should start to see muscle tone in a few days, weight loss in a couple of weeks.

Also, I don't have a yoga mat yet, is it okay to do it on a plaid?
mrswroclai 2 years ago
Hi there,
Use your fingertips grounding way into the ground, and stay down on your knees or one knee if there's too much pressure on your wrists. I would get a yoga mat--you don't want to slip and hurt yourself. Or bare feet on a wood floor can be OK, but too hard for your wrists I bet. Watch for my Healthy Yoga Wrists video coming this week!

Hello Sadie.
Sincerely,

Hi Sadie, I'm going to start this workout tomorrow morning, and I was wondering how fast you see results? I want to pair it with doing this in the morning and pilates in the evening. I'm graduating from college in three weeks and want to look my best, or at least on the way to looking my best. Any advice on how to see results fast but without overexerting myself?
nkaur21 2 years ago
Hey there,
You could also do my Abs Transformer video, I have a few for the core, that might give you better results than Pilates. Anyway, do this workout 4-5 times a week for now, eat cleanly [lots of veggies, lean protein, a little fat like good cheese or olive oil dressing, nuts....], drink water, no fake sugar diet products or drinks, and you'll look amazing.
Good luck

Hi there,
You should be intaking 2500 calories a day at LEAST to fuel your basic body workings [1200 calories] and then eat more to buffer your metabolic systems from being harmed.

Hi Sadie,
I am currently doing Yoga at a local yoga centre. We do almost 2hrs exercises and nearly 50 suryanamaskaars(Sun Salutations) plus 45mins of basic aerobics.. currently on fruits n boiled vegetables.. do u think is enough?
minslovesmusic 2 years ago
Hoe many times a week do you do this, and how many calories would you say you take in per day? I'm not seeing much protein here, which are the building blocks of your muscles, organs, and brain. For me, this amount of exercise is overwhelming to the body, and could deplete you if not nourished with a proper diet. What you're on now seems way too restrictive. Are you happy? Strong? Healthy? Then it's fine.

Hey Sadie,
I was over on iYogalife and I've noticed that a lot of the older entries aren't working--including your Core Power Hour. It says that there is a "500 Internal Server Error."
Is it just my computer or is it a problem being resolved?
PessimisticRealist 2 years ago
Hi Nikki,
A great way to strengthen that wrist is to do yoga on it, and use your fingertips a lot, so you get stronger.

Hey there,
why don't you focus on being strong and capable in your yoga practice rather than trying to look like a skinny boy? Guys don't really like that...but if you eat healthy, 1500-1700 calories a day usually, and do yoga 45-60 mins 3-4 times a week, you'll look as great for your body type. Be beautiful, and don't seek perfection. Ain't no such thing.

Hi there,
Make sure you're eating enough (more than 1200 calories a day), you get your thyroid checked to make sure its functioning properly and you're doing a regular yoga practice. Don't drink diet sodas. They contain neurotoxins. If none of that works, see your doctor. This can be a sign of many things. Let me know!! xoxoSadie

Hey sadie,
Just letting you know how i've been getting on.
Thanks so much for your videos!
I hope you had a nice christmas. :)
floralundies 3 years ago
Hey, that's great! Thanks for letting me/us know;)
The Power Hour is in 4 parts, so look for 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4 and 4 of 4. They make a whole sequence for the whole body. Do the hour 3-4 times a week for best results. Have fun! xoxoSadie
sadienardini 3 years ago
Hi there,
I was just wondering if you recommend starting off with "Weight Loss Yoga" for someone who has never really done yoga before? (Ie: me!) Would it be easy enough for me to follow along?
I read some of the replies you've given others- do this work out 3-4 times a week plus power hour once a week? Is that right? Also i try to run 5-6 days a week- do you recommend do this in conjunction with that?
Sorry for all the questions!!
Thanks :)
floralundies 3 years ago
Hi there, no worries--I like questions!
If you run, you're strong enough to do this--work into the challenging poses as far as you can. Over time, they'll open for you. I would replace a day of running with this Power Hour, not do both on any given day, you'll be doing too much and tearing down. I'd add on my Yoga for Runners video too...
Let me know how it's going!
sadienardini 3 years ago
Wow, thanks heaps! You're so nice to do that. I will definitely give you feedback :)
Have a great christmas!

Hello Sadie,
My daughter is 12 turning 13 in February and she is feeling self- conscious of her body. Thank you!
cvangel143360 3 years ago
Hi there,
1500 calories a day is pretty OK, but breakfast gets the metabolism running, so if she's eating no breakfast, then she'll be more likely to have a lower, slower metabolism all day long, and store more fat. If the body intakes more than about 500 cals at one sitting, it also tends to store. Watch what she's drinking.. do you count those liquid calories? [continued below]
sadienardini 3 years ago
Sadie,
You are awesome.
Can you give me a few words on how to work in down dog pose so that my heels sink to the floor. I have a good strong straight back posture in this pose, but can't get my heels to the ground. What is your advice?
halfpintpearl1980 3 years ago
Hi there,
Draw your navel into your body in the pose, and lengthen your tailbone towards the floor [keep the natural low back curve in though] -- your heels will go down lower. Usually though, we're now trying to keep the heels a little lifted, since heels to the ground can be too much stretch and cause Achilles tendon problems and foot pain. So a little lift is good!

crazydaisy08 3 years ago

I've been doing yoga for about 15 years, but I was pretty decent at it after two.
And most yoga stretches you, but it;s best to do a type that also heats you up and works your muscles, so they stretch better. Most of my poses do both at the same time, which is why it's effective.
Keep at it and have fun!

and an hour of barbara curries yoga. how often should i practice your videos in a week and which ones are best for weight loss? what would you recommend for a healthy diet? how much should one workout in a day to lose fat?
irtiqaj 3 years ago
Hi Barbara,
You can also read my replies on my Yoga for Weight Loss, and all the Power Hour posts.

Hi there.
See my reply above, but for you I would say, if you really want to see results, more than you want to stay the same, you'll find the time. It's only 3-4 hours per week....aren't you worth that? [please say yes;)]
xoxoSadie

how long would it take to loose 15-25 pounds of weight with yoga routines like this one?
crazydaisy08 3 years ago
Hey there,
It really depends how you eat and how much you dedicate to this workout. If you eat 1500 calories per day, max, with one cheat meal per week, then do 4 days of yoga for 1 hour [hard yoga]], you will lose it as fast as you can for you. But I will say, this type of yoga is one of the best or transforming the body the fastest, so you're in the right place. Good luck!

hi, i'm taking yoga classes for about 3 weeks now. my shoulders and arms have been hurting really badly. i have long, lanky arms. i used to run a lot, but that's it - i have never put stress on my arms. so the downward dog pose and basic vinyassa flow concepts are really hard for me.
is pain this long normal? how long does it generally take for the body to get used to stuff like vinyassa flow?how can i tell i'm doing the downward dog pose properly without a mirror? great vids!
gtg488w 3 years ago
Hi there,
How often do you do yoga? Are you giving your body 1-2 days off between classes to repair? Lastly, is the pain in one spot or all over your arms? It sounds like muscle soreness which needs time off or it will stay torn down. Your muscle growth lasts 5-7 days, so you do not need to work them every day...but let me know! As for Down Dog, ask your teacher to look at it for you before class. Stay lifted in your arms and shoulders though. Many teachers don't know that.

Thank you so much for making this! I'm really enjoying it. One question though-when I do the first leg lift up(the one without square hips), I get cramps on the outside of my hip where it connects to my leg- am I doing something wrong, or are my muscles just not up to it yet? Thanks once again!
zufinfluby 3 years ago
That pose can often cramp the hip, but the cramping actually helps to release the muscle more when you do the next pose, which is a stretch for that area. If the crampy feeling doesn't go away by the next pose, then don't do that leg lift. But It should be fine. xo! Have fun, Sadie

This looks like some serious workout! LOL
I'm only just beggining to look into yoga and unfortunately can't seem to find any yoga studio or instructor in my area...so this is all I can rely on at the moment. I think I'll start by trying to work on the postures each by each before trying the whole workout though, don't wanna pull something.

Hi Debi...

Rock on, S

Hi there,
Why? Why not?
