  • THANK YOU for posting this!!!! :)

  • i got a 1988 grand marquis and wouldnt trade it for any of these new disposable cars. lol

  • The current Crown Vic/Lincoln Towncar/Mercury Grand Marquis (Fords "panther" platform) are THE LAST production cars with body on frame contraction. Production ends on all three in 2011.

  • My grandfather just bought an 89 vic with 42k original miles on it. Car is in excellent condition inside and out, motor is clean and doesnt burn or leak any oil at all. However.... I just don't feel that it doesn't have near the power it should. Example, even in the rain, you cannot powerbrake it. It seems that 1/2 throttle is the same as full, i've tried rhomping it many times to possibly blow out some soot, no luck. Is this normal for theese cars? I have a 97 3.8 cougar that will eat it alive.

  • The Crown Vic is now fleet-only for taxi cabs and police cruisers. Sadly, the Grand Marquis and Town Car are the only old-school, RWD, big-ass V8, body-on-frame sedans left. I love this style and it's a shame it is going extinct.

  • Charger? 300?

  • They're big, full-size and RWD but they're unibody, not body-on-frame. BOF compromises ride to some degree but it's much more robust and has good towing capacity, unibody not so much. That's why cops and taxi drivers love the Crown Vic--their frame can take just about anything thrown at it and repair easily.

  • @BlueOvalBoy85 The Hyundai Genesis and Dodge Charger are still RWD V8 body on frame cars.

  • @talldude123

They are RWD, but not body-on-frame. Just like every other new car, they are unibody

  • @91Taurus How about the Toyota Avalon? We don't have them in Canada but from what I've read they're body-on-frame RWD.

  • WTF is up with the abbreviations from that lady? Saying Crown Victoria isn't that much harder. Olds? LTD? Hmm... Lazy.

  • Its hard for me to think the Delta 88 was a LTD competitor.

In any case, i love both Crown Vics and Caprices, though in 89, you'd be hard pressed to convince me to get any other large car than a Caprice.

  • wow i never seen a crown vic pull a big ass boat like that nice

  • other competitors are

    cadillac brougham/deville

    buick electra

  • ther is no way the olds or caprice can compete with the crown vic it is a better car all the way

  • I think the crown vic had about 20 less hp than the 89 caprice but it was fuel injected and the caprice crumpled like a paper bag when hit. I also can say that my 96 Grand marquis Gs has 190 hp and the Buick Roadmaster it Replaced had 260 and the Grand marquis is noticably faster and better handling.

  • actually I was wrong--i re-watched the vid and they said multi-point injection...I feel like a dumbass--the '86 came with SEFI. 155hp and 265lb/ft of torque.

  • fuel injection came onto the CV in '83...CFI single-point (like Chevy's TBI), not 1986.

  • Ha I own one right now...

    my first car ever

I'm going to miss her too

    have to sell

  • Seems like they had something to avoid with the Caprice, so they instead compared it to the Olds 88, which was smaller, therefore less room and a smaller engine. Duh guys! So what were they avoiding with the Caprice?

  • The Caprice was faster & roomier which, by the way, also made it a better cop car.

  • My first car was a 1989 Ford Ltd. Crown Victoria Lx. I still miss her.
