  • great review. I was worried about anyone trying to "be" Julia Child but I do want to see it now. It looks like I may have to feed myself prior to watching.

  • Thanks, my friend and I went and had a hot chocolate afterwards, the scene with the chocolate cake had the entire audience moaning in unison. Maybe bring something in your purse, haha, or at least a drool bucket.

  • Thanks, I loved the movie too. I'm a Meryl Streep fan but I loved the all round performance by everyone.

It was my birthday 8/7/09 so I was pretty tanked up on lobster when the movie started, but not even that prepared me for that chocolate cake.

Sorry vegan, my daughter and I cooked the lobsters at home.

  • Aww, that's a cute story, happy birthday! I've never cooked lobster, was it like they did in the movie, where they were alive? Aaaaugh! Have you done that before?

  • Thanks Diane. It's hard to find movie reviews done by women. I'm reading the book and I think I'm going to stop and go see the movie. The book just isn't very good but I keep hearing great things about the movie. Thanks again for the review! Karla

  • *chuckle* this video should be rated X for diabetics. That food just sounds too yummy. :-)

  • The movie, too. And for vegans? Forget it. There is so much meat even I got grossed out, especially the lobster scene. EEEK! There was one scene in the movie where they cut a piece of chocolate cake and the entire audience in unison burst into spontaneous "AHHHH". It was hilarious and reminded me the energy of a live audience vs. watching a video at home.
