6string3r, do you know who is playing Alex Skolnick's part this year since he's off to Ireland? And is Anna Phoebe still playing the East Coast tour? Thanks! 19 days until the show for me!
@degarmo187 The reason for titling this video the way I did, is that TSO are performing two pieces of music here. They do "Beethoven", then segue into "Requiem (The Fifth)". Hence Beethoven/Requiem. Both are from the "Beethoven's Last Night" album.
My brother said they bring their OWN STAGE and have 47 semi trucks to carry their equipment and everything else. I guess this is one of the largest traveling music groups in the world.
lol...maybe a little late but the piano is playing an bit of Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata, from the first movement. I think. lol...I would know...but it's late and this video has made me think I'm high...
Warning: Trans-Siberian Orchestra may induce nausea, dizziness, seizure, heart attack, and, on rare occasions, death. Do not attend Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. If you experience and of these symptoms, contact you doctor immediately.
wow it would be really awesome if TSO would also do arrangements of the ff on the next release:
1. vangelis' CONQUEST OF PARADISE, CHARIOTS OF FIRE, and ANTARTICA
2. probably some of yanni's more bombastic songs
3. enya's STORMS OF AFRICA
those songs (though the new age choices might probably be a bit odd next to the classical selections) would really sound great next to Carmina Burana and Beethoven/Requiem
i love this show i was there! it was awesome! i'll go this year again I'm in southern california they will be at the honda center in anahein strongly urge anyone who hasn't seen them yet to get tickets for the next concert as soon as possible (and bring your friends). Watching the videos on YouTube is nothing compared to actually having been there.
Excellent vid! Without the usual sound and camera distortion, you get a feel of what it's like to see TSO live. Al Pitrelli (lead metal guitar, musical director) is, according to rumor, and the composers of BLN are staging a live rock opera of the entire piece. Al'a bio states that he is classically-trained, hence his perfection in the TSO renditions of Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, etc.
I went to the Biloxi, MS show sometime last year lol, i dont keep track. definently the best expirience ive ever had, im going again next tiem they come.
Excellent concert. I went Jan. 5th at the Wilkes-Barre show. Love Chris Caffery and "The Wizard." I strongly urge anyone who hasn't seen them yet to get tickets for the next concert as soon as possible (and bring your friends). Watching the videos on YouTube is nothing compared to actually having been there.
I went to my first TSO concert in Houston on Dec. 27th. LOVED IT! found your videos on youtube. I was hoping you could answer a couple questions for me. The man who was singing the song Christmas eve 1999 was the director of our tour. He is not an original TSO member correct? What is his name?
Also, the lead guitar player in our tour was great. He was also the head musical director. Do you happen to know his name?
You are talking about Tommy Farese on the west tour. Yes, he's an original member. He can also be seen on the 1999 DVD, "The Ghosts Of Christmas Eve".
@6string3r But Johnny Lee wasn't part of the West coast band (he is this year, but before him we had Chris A.). The director of the East tour is Bob Kinkel and the director for the West tour is Al Pitrelli. Tommy Farese was the host of the West tour (introduced everyone, addressed the audience) for as long as I can remember.
@JustinPiano09 JLM was indeed with the West band, from 2000 'til 2008 (technically, JLM sat out in 2001, and Malcolm Gold filled in). Chris Altenhoff took Dave Z.'s place in TSO East in 2007, then Chris and JLM switched sides in 2008, sending Chris West and bringing JLM East. JLM is going back West again this year. Confusing, isn't it?

It certainly IS NOT Missa Solemnis!
I was waiting for the great resonant chords at the beginning, with the chorus following.
Along with Pathetique piano sonata.
But, with the last (9th) symphony, they don't get beyond letter D.
In sum, does anyone else think boatloads of Walter Murphy, and his "Fifth of Beethoven" besides me?
