I was recently shocked to have discovered that I have family that came to New York from Saint Kitts. I had always assumed they had come to New York from Ireland like the rest of my family. upon further investigation I learned that 20,000 Irish were shipped to Saint Kitts to work on plantations growing tobacco and sugar cane. Most I assume died out or left like my ancestors considering the vast majority of the islands residents today are of African decent.

What the author was doing in that book is he was being biased sort of one sided without seeing it for the way it truly was. 14th and 15th centuries translates to 1300s & 1400s, English colonies on North American soil didn't began until Jamestown 1607 & Plymouth 1620. White enslavement in North America was brief. It was virtually eliminated by the 1690s.

The first recorded slave in the US according to Maryland dockets was a white indentured servant punished to be a slave for life to a black man. The US war with Tripoli was over white slavery, and even the highest ranking officer in the Navy was turned into a slave by his captors.

There was a long history of Moslems enslaving Europeans. St. Anthony of Padua was captured on a ship and enslaved by Arabs but escaped later on. I never heard of legal slavery of whites in the United States however the first enslaved persons in the colonial period were Native Americans. It didn't last long though.

The Begley Family fought the English and when beaten they were taken from Ireland to England from the Tullbegley, Donegal, Ireland Area to help break up their family relationship to the Dónall Clan, and thus allow the British better control of the area.

Being from Australia, we learnt a bit of this history in class; especially the prisoner-ships that came over and the truely horrible living conditions in them. There was also the "Child Migrants Programme" where the Catholic church and the English government sent 150,000 children - some orphans, others from poor families (who were told their parents were dead) - to Australia; the kids that weren't dumped in orphanges ended up in 'work farms' as slave labour.

Also regarding white slavery: Small children worked the coal mines because the roof in the coal mine was low and collapsed frequently. The largest slave owner was the vatican, that was one reason to spread a certain religion to make sure they were kept in control. The first recorded slave in the US according to Maryland dockets was a white indentured servant punished to be a slave for life to a black man. @filmtress I think the point of it was to say that their were also white slaves and in someways whites have it harder and how it's never really mentioned in history. Yet Blacks complain all the time about What whites did to Africans when Africans also did it to white before then.

@filmtress as factual as that is, what is your take on the domination of the original European settlers to North America, over 17,000 years ago? Mongoloids (such as yourself) only made it to North America via the Bering Strait over 6,000 years ago. while we have no real ability to document the actions of your people against ours, i can only imagine that the lack of our original European ancestors in North America proves that you're not all that innocent.

It is a common error with that statistic, 75% of the Jews in the south owned slaves. However 75% of the slaves were not owned by Jews. The Jews did finance the slave ships and responsible for much of the slavery from West Africa to America as well. They have a filthy history in the slave trade not widely discussed.

Pick up a book instead of going on YouTube and see for yourself. The issue is this, Slavery happened. On many accounts the Irish can say they had it far worse then other cultures. Who cares… Coming from an Irishman who can trace slavery back to his ancestors, I feel this can be said. It was long ago and bottom line; get over it. That is the Irish way. There was a long history of Moslems enslaving Europeans. St. Anthony of Padua was captured on a ship and enslaved by Arabs but escaped later on. I never heard of legal slavery of whites in the United States however the first enslaved persons in the colonial period were Native Americans. It didn't last long though.
Pardon the way I say this but Black Folks need to accept the fact the first recorded evidence of slavery were the Nubians enslaving the Egyptians, 200 years later that switched on em.

I had always heard that Crispus Attucks was mixed. Mother was Wampanoag, Father was a African slave. Contemporary newspapers apparently listed him as Mixed instead of Negro. I haven't seen them myself so take it for what it is. Very good video by the way.

The Romans enslaved any race, my own ancestor's the Pictish people and they fought them for three hundred years and held there ground in northern Scotland. Rome kept retreating and building walls across the whole of Britain. They were the only people to hold there ground for so long of a time against the empire. Black slaves are still kept by Muslims in Saudi Arabia. My many great grandfather Peter Begley came to America as an indentured slave in 1634. The Begley Family fought the English and when beaten they were taken from Ireland to England from the Tullbegley, Donegal, Ireland Area to help break up their family relationship to the Dónall Clan, and thus allow the British better control of the area.

They say the Irish starved due to the potato crop failure , but that is pure bull shit , the Irish farmers had a big variety of other foods... but that food was forcefully taken from them at gun point by the English soldiers. Just because African slavery in america was more recent, does not mean it was harder. not by a long shot. It was horrible- completely awful and unfair. but white people are certainly not the only race with a shameful history. we're just the ones who take more blame.
