Bruce rips in this one. most people don't realize what a great lead player he is. But he's smart. He knows he's a singer songwriter first and foremost as well as a great entertainer. If only Clapton played with as much passion like everyone thinks he does.
Thanks very much for posting. I saw Bruce for the first time in Seattle in Dec 1978, and this really brings back the memories. That was a crazy show-- they did two encores, including odd stuff like Pretty Flamingo. Prove it all night was one of the highlights for me. This video is obviously from the same tour. Dang, those guys look young!
My ex-wife HATED Bruce. A real music snob who finally went to a show with me. Afterwards, she said she STILL couldn't stand his music, but during the four-plus hours he was on stage, she could not take her eyes off him for a second, he didn't play -- he was the music, and she didn't want the show to stop. Close, but no cigar -- she's still my ex... It was an interesting opinion from someone who doesn't like his music, but was totally compelled by his performance in person.
people who have never seen bruce live or have never seen these amazing vids now so easily available on youtube underestimate him as a guitarist, studio versions of songs heard on the radio or on cd's don't feature what bruce, steve or nils are capable, and its not just solos but very melodic creations.
Dont you just love the way they started that song back then, slow drums and the Big man adding some fill then Bruce comes in with a pounding lead intro..They now do it different and it is still a great song but this is best in my book.
i totally agree dude. however, i go as far as to say that hes bad now. i went to one of his concerts and i was disappointed. sings like a country/folk singer and changes all his songs. not for me
Thx for this GREAT video from Greece. What i don't understand is why you don't mention the E Street Band on the title.

Nice triangle work. I think my next guitar will have to be a Telecaster.

@RubHerSoul1 Couldn't agree more. About both Clapton and Springsteen.
Bruce is all juice all the time on stage.

I didn't realise Springsteen was such a good lead player, I thought he only played rhythm?

Possibly the greatest live performance of any song ever... Gets me every time!

I believe he refers to Monroe Louisiana to Angeline Texas.. I know during that time in his life he drove thru the US just taking in the country,,

Where are these cities located?

Springsteen is not noted for his guitar playing, he never appears in polls or lists of the greatest guitar players ever.
He should after this......its explosive !!

Great performance: the instrumental version of "Frederick", building to an orgasmic, musical climax into "Prove It All Night".
The 'future of rock n roll' back in the day.
:-)

@fanof41 'Frederick' happens to be a copy of a Springsteen riff, not the other way around.

Like him or loathe him (and I love him), you can't help but feel drawn towards that on-stage charisma.
