It is all in the manner of which it is abused. Although the buzz is different, I think the "danger" is no worse than alcohol, and less worse, if you decide to drive, or operate heavy machinery after. I always enjoyed getting stoned out of my mind, and then operating some heavy machinery, like a bulldozer, or a crane!
i love how they interupted him as soon as he started comaprin it to more dangerous things and fionished it off with its bad for kids and so is alcohol
what? it is the lesser of two evils... I mean how is pot comparable to meth? or heroine? it isn't, the government should just legalize weed-tax it and move on, it's no worse than drinking alcohol or smoking a cigarette. LET PHELPS GO! just because he apologized isn't going to stop kids from smoking pot, how dumb do these people think kids are these day, if they're going to smoke pot, they're going to do it no matter what.
fuck these geezer assholes like this guy has to force the last word in with a self righteous chuckle fuck off I bet his 16 year old grand daughter is getting high and fucking her boyfriend right now.
BAHAHAHABAHABAHAHAHAAJAJAJAJAJAGAGAGAGA KIDS in treatment facilities for marijuana dependancy?! what the fuck is that? like the half baked scene with bob sagat?
"Marijuana is a dangerous drug", it's funny he would say that because there is no evidence to prove it! Hahaha infact ALL conclusive medical documents show that it's GOOD FOR YOU!!
I'm outraged that Michael Phelps puss'd out & apologized for smokeing pot. A better man would have told all the buisey body douche bags to mind their own fucking buisness & do something to create jobs or something!
I hope that one day everyone will finally realize that weed is no worse than alcohol. Alcohol takes lives everyday, Unlike Weed NO DEATHS. Marijuana grows on this planet and it is looked down upon, how stupid is that?. I hope one day that the laws for marijuana will change. I wouldn't even doubt that Phelps has been smoking marijuana before the olympics. Marijuana is just like any other thing, you don't over do it and it is meant to be enjoyed safely with a smoke filtering bong.
Why does CBS feels it necessary to make the media/society to express an "outrage" over this incident.
I wouldn't doubt it that Michael smoked long before winning those gold medals. What if he had tested positive for speed or steroids?? CBS is clearly showing a bias in their reporting on this story.
maybe not change them....abolish them. why do we need a law for a plant?
responsibility...
some people who smoke pot are still functioning, productive members of society. some arent responsible. I would argue that to some extent its illegality contributes to some peoples irresponsible actions. and some people are just stupid...and those people are gonna F up anyway....im ramble-writing now...prob cuz its friday and i got high
people are fucktards, who gives a shit if he smokes a bong load.. kids are looking up to 50 cent and eminem.. smoke weed kids, dont drink alcohol or take pills, if you want to alter your mind, which is a perfectly natural emotion, do it with pot. Fuck liquor and fuck Pfizer and FUCK Malboro.
the weed isnt stronger...the brain is 90% developed by age 5 and they are more pothead in rehab because its an alternative to being in jail... if they offer you jail or rehab... u gunna take rehab!
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that snowboarder taken for using pot right after his win, i.e. he had residue of pot in his system during his win?
Big difference if that's the case. Phelps smoked pot long after his olympic experience. Yea it's not a good thing considering he's a role model, but "outrage" over it? Cmon. It's not like it taints his wins or anything, all it taints is his rolemodel image.
if you care about the children you'll support legalization and taxation of marijuana. put drug dealers out of business. let efficient hemp compete against the petrochemical monopolies. get marijuana out of the hands of kids and into the hands controlled vendors who check ID. Prohibition only drives up the price and encourages illegal activity. i wish people like Califano would worry about the real killers like alcohol and tobacco.
In my experience alcohol is much more damaging, both socially and physically, than kind bud. My housemate died within the last year from an alcohol addiction (acute pancreatitis) and he never smoked pot (made him paranoid). I believe the paranoia come from it being illegal and not from the drug itself. As far as Phelps being a role model for children, I agree with nvo7354. It's like Bob Marley said, "Legalize it, don't criticize it."
hahaha the weed has well and truly got you mate. "... he never smoked pot (made him paranoid)" well if he never smoked it how would you know that? It's also a well known fact weed makes you paranoid and can develop schizophrenia in individuals that smoke it, SO YOU'RE TALKING SHIT! Who gives a fuck what bob marley said he was a drug addict reggae loser.
Let's also keep in mind that he was seen with a Bong. But that doesn't mean he smoked.
So far we have very flimsy circumstantial evidence at best. Holding a bong to your mouth is not against the law, and so far, that is all we know.
It is still bad judgment on his part. And I don't the he really realizes how much money others can make from candid photos of him. This photo might be bad for Phelps, but it made many others a lot of money. THAT is what is driving this.
I don't think there is no outrage over Phelps. In fact, I'm sure people are upset, but there is also a degree of understanding.
Phelps is just learning how to deal with his fame. He hasn't realized that every action of his will be viewed and reviewed. That is a tough bubble to live in.
We'll see whether Phelps 'lives and learns' or whether he goes off the deep end. I hope for the best, but I think he foolishly risked $100 mil just to be cool at a party. That's a very expensive party.
what does that fat fuck know?! has he ever tried it?! my god.. ask the people here that have some actual first hand experience. kids dont be fooled by these moraltards
If he were seen drinking it would be laughed about on TMZ and that would be all. The kid hits a bong (far less dangerous than alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceuticals) and suddenly he's being scrutinized. It's no surprise no one seems to care- it's no secret the "war on drugs," particularly marijuana, is an industry, and nothing more. We need to move on from our hyper-puritanical views and realize the money spent and lives ruined over prosecuting smokers of a harmless plant.
I'm so sick of people talking about how he is a bad role model for kids. Tons of celebrities and role models drink alcohol, which directly kills thousands of people a year, and Phelps gets his picture taken taking a hit of weed, which has never directly killed anybody, and everybody freaks out...wow.
I agree that there should be an outrage against his behaviour. I agree that in our media-concentrated society that people are looking for role models & sports stars are one of those that people look up to (evidenced by the high numbers of people watching sports events). I hope that he will get his act together & realize what responsilbity he has to his country.
Ross isn't much better; he makes jokes out of a serious issue. Please don't think that all Canadians approve of his behaviour.
Role models? What the FUCK are you talking about? What about all the slut celebrities on MTV etc with their crystal champagne?
Id rather my children smoked dope than drinking poison.. at least there is some positives to smoking cannabis. I can't think of one single positive benefit of drinking poison
I don't think he's joking. The only reason that senile hack was laughing at him was because he has absolutely no clue what he's talking about and has no facts to respond to him. As for Phelps being a role model, if your kid smokes pot just because Michael Phelps does, you've obviously raised a kid who has zero ability to make his own rational decision, which is your fault, not Michael Phelps'.
Are you idiots still reporting this crud? Guess when there's no nations being invaded for stupid reasons, you guys just report any old thing. Hey, I hear Peyton Manning drank a beer once. Should we run a story on alcohol abuse? After he's such a role model fo kids. Like Miley Cyrus, you know, that trampy teen who poses as a singer.
God, get some real news. This is why your network is such a dinosaur.
Its funny how to weed smokers are gold metal winners in the Olympics, and the
non weed smoker is a fat ass saying its the worst thing ever.
