  • OMG pure talent! and adorableness!!

  • I would have loved to see young Sammy dance with young Shirley Temple - I can just picture it! Brilliance together...

  • who ever downloaded this jewel. Your spirit is made out of gold.! Ragtime music and the way he did the tap dancing routine wow AND AT HIS AGE and ON FILM. This has to be in a museum.

  • Some people are just born with rhythm.

  • He's sooooo cute! What amazing talent!

  • A six year old Sammy Davis Jr. doing a smash-em-up job of tap dancing?

I'm falling in love w/You Tube ~ because where else can you find/see extraordinary moments like this?

    (((SammyDavisJr)))

    XOX!

  • Incredible showmanship for a child that age

  • to think I missed this talented youngster, because he was not allowed to have his showmanship televised during those times.[only certain ethnic groups and their talent were exposed on the tube] fantastic

  • What an energetic sweetie.

  • What an entertainer and a human being! No one comes close today - NO ONE - to the talent these people had and his Rat Pack stars etc. God Bless and thanks for your work Mr. Davis Jr! RIP.

  • One day on a golf course with Jack Benny, Sammy Davis Jr. was asked what his handicap was. "Handicap?" he asked. "Talk about handicap — I'm a one-eyed Negro Jew."

  • PLEASE... What is the title of this film???

  • Comment removed

  • @Shashan1977, The name of this film is "Rufus Jones For President" from 1933. You can find the entire short film here on YouTube by searching for it by name.

  • hahaha that was so good. loved that comment above me. got me cracking up. loved it rightwingcon.

  • hahaha that was so good. loved that comment above me. got me cracking up.

  • saw jnr live in vegas...opened the show with a video of him singing and dancing. (when he was 6 yrs old)..sooo funny...cannot find that video here...

  • THE KING BEFORE MICHAEL JACKSON !!

  • The Jews ruled entertainment even back then!

  • @thedavidwilson What the hell is wrong with you?

  • @MrWhiteBlur SDJr was Jewish.

  • @thedavidwilson Oh my complete apologies I miss read your comment before I read up again and Sammy Davis Jr. I am very sorry.I just read so many anti-semitic comments on YouTube I over look some innocent ones.

Also he wasnt Jewish at this point, he converted many years later

  • @MrWhiteBlur "Also he wasnt Jewish at this point, he converted many years later"

I know. That is why it was funny :-) Check out some videos by SDJr as an adult. His African, Puerto Rican and "Jewish" heritage was a big part of his commedy routine. That was back during a time when we could still laugh about ourselves and the sterotypes society placed on us. A time before "pride" ceased to be a deadly sin and became a deadly virtue.

  • @thedavidwilson the last part of your comment is incredible...how much i agree

  • Comment removed

  • two people have no souls.

  • most kids cant walk in single file at that age. he'd only been waling for five years lol

  • @jplusCD LOL!!!!!!!

  • What a talent! What fun to be able to see this again. RIP Sammy

  • Pure talent. You don't see that anymore.

  • now we all know where Michael Jackson got the idea to stand on his toes from ha? legend

  • @SBNEWS not to forget james brown, as we're mentioning mj :D

  • @rightwingcon81 thanks for the racist comment no one asked 4 ..i'll be nice though and give you a few bricks to put under your trailer home. tell your mom i like cereal in the morning not steak eggs & dont spend all her food stamps on me ,and i saw your father yesterday, he wants you to know he's still deciding if he loves you and once he figures it out he will email you a hug and also to tell you once his operations complete you will have 2 mothers (3 if things work out with your moms friend

  • @known2bcool this comment is really funny!!

  • @known2bcool Anyone ever hear the phrase "two wrongs don't make a right?"

  • @RightWingCon81 Hey, knucklehead, PLEASE change your screen name. REAL right wingers, such as MYSELF, embrace ANYONE loves America and wants to make Her a better, stronger place, as Mr. Davis certainly did. Cain in 2012.

  • We need to see and preserve more footage of our talented ancestors and others who blazed the trail before us. For without their contributions, sacrifice and talents we would not be able to enjoy what we so often take for granted today...

  • thankful for Sammy Davis Jr. for making me smile whenever I feel blue. he is amazing.

  • you or i will never see the likes of this again , Sammy was the man . The lady was just a smiling lol this is great what a talent

  • this makes me laugh and cry at the same time but i cant get the smile off my face.. what a genius... Will love you forever Sammy! xxx

  • half puerto rican half african american. ppl talk about how, "oh Mariah Carey is like the first ever mixed hispanic w/ black famous person" when sammy davis jr. was. i'm only 19 and knew that ever since i was like 13. i love that dude so much.

  • He sure was gifted! Thanks for posting. :)

  • OMG!! What talent!! Geez what was I doing at 6 years old lol I couldn't help but see so many resemblances here of Michael when he started out at a young age. Talent is born not made! Two great legends Sammy Davis & Michael Jackson! RIP <3 thanks Susie (8mycrab) for sharing the video with me!

  • Thanx for posting.

    Thanx 8mycrab (Susie) :-))

  • What a talent Sammy Davis Jr had to dance like this when he was 6 years old!

Didn't see it before; thank you for posting.

Susie, thank you for sending me this video of a little miracle!

Sammy Davis Jnr The Candy Man

This was one of my favorites songs growing up!

R.I.P. Sammy! You brought me lots of joy!

  • He looks like a little man. He danced so good. Bravo.

  • This Cat was amazing even as a child. I am so glad that God gave us him for as long as he did. I had this video but lost it, can you tell me the name of the movie? Thank you for the post. I love Ms. Waters too!

  • R.I.P Sammy Davis Jr even though you thought no one would care much about you when you die you were so wrong so many people loved you when you were a live and so many people love you now even though your not alive any more. Love you Sammy

  • Sammy Davis JR, plaese come back dance! R.I.P Sammy!

  • its like he was born to make the world smile :D RIP Sammy we miss ya!

  • AAAAW Sammy is SOOOO CUTE

He's a little TAP DANCING Sweetheart!

  • unreal how he was so talented and comfortable on stage at such an early age!!

  • how can a 6 year old dance like that? what a talent

  • Sammy was a treasure of the late vaudeville era who, fortunately for us, also overlapped with the era of film. Donald O'Connor (born the same year) was another. Brilliant dancers, singers, comedians and all-round entertainers... their like won't be seen again, because the era that produced them is gone.

Thanks for this upload! Just wonderful.

  • absolutely incredible!!! he was one of the great ones! RIP

  • Sammy Davis Jr. and Shirley Temple are the most talented children of the century. No kids today in lala land have this type of talent anymore. GOd bless Sammy and Shirley! :)

  • @Irishrose2966 In my opinion, it'd be Sammy Davis and Michael Jackson. As a pre-teen, Michael could move and sing with the soul of a 45-year-old. And Sammy could, of course, do it all.

  • ha little sammy

  • look at poppa!

  • @tweezee HAHAH!

    You read the book?

    Eh Mastin?

  • yeah i did! lol its my favorite.

  • Fantastic performance!

  • Thanks for posting your videos . This was great !

  • WHAT A GUY!!

  • DUDE!...This is the WHOLE frickin' clip!

    Alright! (lol)

  • YESSSSSSSS !!

  • This is the Vitaphone short RUFUS JONES FOR PRESIDENT (1933) about a black child elected president of the united states.

  • ownage.....

  • amazing the talent at that age,he should have danced with shirley temple

  • @TheRisingforce2000 HE WOULD HAVE LEFT HER IN THE DUST NO PROBLEM

  • it's nice to see this and then watch him dance on Steve Allen's and Duke Ellington's pianos---also on YOUTUBE...a thrill!

  • go sammy....here is a multi talented man that is very underated in my opinion. the man could sing, dance, play instruments, impersonations, act, all self taught.....excellent

  • HAHA that's Cool....

  • Here comes the judge indeed.

  • Hey guys, keep it clean please. We are enjoying seeing Sammy as a little cutie pie & it's tough to hear the rough language. Of all the singers of his type including his fellow rat-packers, Sammy was the greatest talent.

  • i didn't know this video was about mj? so let's talk about sammy again ok?

  • Man, Sammy was the best! And so much influence. You know it's because of him hotels in Vegas were desegerated. Before him black people were not allowed to even change in the dressing rooms of the hotels they performed in let alone sleep there!

  • Um kids posting arguments back and forth to each other.....This is a clip about SAMMY!! Stay on topic or slow down and rewatch the vid. Sammy you were the MAN even as a "little man" :-D

  • 4 ALL PEOPLE

  • As stated by Michael Jackson about Sammie Davis Jr "I am here because You were there".............Rest in peace Michael

  • Michael Jackson Who?

  • psh and ppl tried to say elvis was better than sammy james brown and mj

    HAHAHA

  • great! super!!!!!!!

  • better?? music and arts is not a competition, retard. BUT if u make a serious analytical competiton Prince would kick everyones ass...

  • lol YOURE the retard

PEOPLE have said that elvis was better for god knows wat reason

I on the other hand know damn well elvis doesnt come close to any of those guys

i also k music and arts isnt a competition fucktard..the competition lies with who has a bigger impact with music dance singing and entertainment duh

oh and no prince was not on the level of those artists i mentioned

  • once again...BETTER WHATT??? RETARD!!

    u dont even know..

MJ was overrated and EVERY MUSICIAN knows it. u probably say COKE is the best drink...right? or macdonalds the best restaurant in the world. hahaha...ignorant little shithead

  • actually i prefer orange soda and mountain do is the best soda and i dont like *mcdonalds* at all actually

but for u to say mj was overrated just shows that YOU are the ignorant little shithead and the retard

considering sooo many musicians nowadays look to him as inspiration

and by better i meant better artist better music more feeling better dancing better singing bigger impact

    thats wat better means(see dictionary)

in which sammy davis and the others were better than elvis

    plz kill urself

  • miles davis had a bigger impact in music world than michael "king of lip synching" jackson. M Monroe had a bigger impact than meryl streep. Titanic had a bigger impact and more oscars than apocalyose now or the godfather. IDIOT, BIGGER IMPACT IN THE BIG IGNORANT MASS OF PEOPLE but not on the real ART PEOPLE.

    ur so confused...or just retarded.

  • LOL king of lip singing

your an even bigger dumbass just for sayin that considering mj has sung almost al lhis songs live with only few lip synching

that is a very foolish thing to say

y dont u take a look at the concerts during the victory, bad, and dangerous tour and then get back to me about lip synching LOL jackass

mj is the gay version of madonna psh

that just goes to show ur one of those big ignorant mass of ppl.any1 who says dumb stuff like that cant b in the category of "art people"

  • stfu. U hate MJ for dumbiest reasons. I told U many times GO FUCKING KILL YOURSELF.

  • oh and they were better than prince too

  • bob dylan had a bigger impact than MJ.

MJ had a bigger impact than bob dylan if wer talking about retards and kids....

MJ was a product not a MUSICIAN.

miles davis said prince was the most talented and his music was ahead of everyone. MJ is the madonna gay version. kids adore michael. real musicians adore prince.

    now fuck off RETARDED MONKEY!

  • retarded monkey?

lol ur insults get better and better

    YOUR AN IDIOT

just to say that prince was the most talented and ahead of evry1 is not short of ridiculous

i like prince and i enjoy his music

but he was NOT on the level of mj sammy davis and james brown

considering the fact that ppl of all ages adore mj and not just kids, to say he was a product is also ridiculous

YES PRINCE WAS A BETTER MUSICIAN than mj and james and sammy

but as an all around entertainer and artist

    hes not on their level

  • hey monkey, go have another banana

  • u fucking faggot U're a grown ass man that acts like a fucking 12 year old. I exposed u a fucking LIAR many times. U aint shit and never will be shit

  • hey faggot, go eat another dick

  • hahaha wow. MICHAEL JACKSON had the BIGGEST impact on music. MJ is adored by people from ALL ages. U need to get off of MJ's dick. MJ is not overrated. nobody likes u, u go on other videos and shit about MJ. MJ's music is TIMELESS and Prince's music isn't

  • wrong retard. hendrix had a bigger impact. miles davis had a bigger impact. bob dylan, chuck berry, beatles...soooo many had bigger imact than jacko

MJ did nothing new but good videos. but MUSIC HAS ALWAYS TO BE PERFORMED LIVE. L-I-V-E!!!!!!!!!!!!

otherwisw u look superfecial unprofessional untalented and cold hearted

  • MJ has been proven to be the MOST influential artist of all time. MJ did so much music he set bars, broke records, made better music that is timeless.

  • i agree

  • Thank God for YOUTUBE!!!! I luv it :-) <3

  • What a wonderfull talanted man

  • They called him Mr. Entertainment sing, dance, comic, yes and a fine actor too.

Their was only one Sanny Davis jr.

  • His first performance on stage was at the Lincoln Theatre in Columbus, Ohio when he was 3 years old! The theatre just recently reopened.

  • TALENT!

  • i l him so rip sammy witcha big ol head lol

  • Thanks so much for posting. He was so cute! Still hard to believe he and Gregory Hines and all the other great tap dancers are no longer with us. May they all rest in peace and continue to tap in heaven.

  • Talent like Sammy's is very rare. That's what makes these clips a real treasure. Thanks for posting them. God bless you Sammy!

  • No one can compare with Sammy Davis Jr., even at this age. Fantastic. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Absolutely amazing... Britain's Got Talent??? My arse!!!!

  • so little , so much talent. that was so awesome

  • omg! i've been looking all over online to find this to show my little sis! this is one of my fave tap snippets eVerZ! lovez it! :)

  • Classic!!!!!

  • Real neat clip! I love the music!

  • I heard S. D. Jr. was passed off as a midget, so he could work with his dad in the biz! Amazing kid. UN-real as an adult! My top fav of tap! Also, Steve Martin, and Gregory hines!

  • In this movie, he was supposed to be the mayor of the city, so you are right about him being passed off as a midget.

  • He's a little boy who was elected President (in his mother's dream). "Rufus Jones for President."

  • @brilbarrett In the beginning of the movie his mother has a dream that he becomes the president of the United States at the age of seven...I think the movie is on youtube as well....

  • Great...I know that lady is Ethel Waters, I can't make out the guy, I believe it's Bill Robinson. Great footage.

  • Right you are! It is definitely Bill Robinson

  • Bill Robinson was a BIG STAR in 1933 and wouldn't be just sitting watching another dancer, even a cute 7 year old. It's not him; I have the movie on DVD.

  • You have a point and I stand corrected!

  • As well you should!!

  • Haha. I don't see why not? Bojangles was a big mentor to Sammy and a friend of the family lol. But you're more than likely right that its not him xD. The quality is too hard to tell right now xDDD.

  • The Best ever aBig Thanks classic

  • thats how we do!

    lol
