Claudine Jones i wish i knew . If only to show todays pop (stars) how it should be done.lol After inventing the skeleton violin he's most probably a millionare.
Bet Kid remembers as we do. One night in Scunthorpe The Priory hotel and one very low ceiling. Kid split his head open on the lighting rig but carried on to the end of the night. One crazy night one crazy gig. D.O.M best ever.
I saw them twice. Once in 1975 at Brooklands College and jeered them along with all the other hippies! Then they were the support act to Bebop Deluxe in 1976 at Guildford Civic Hall and maybe cos I remembered the act and some of the tunes and they were on a bigger stage they were F*cking brilliant! Yes was 25/2/1976... Then Punk finished them off...
mez7737 saw them in 76 or 77 at barnsley civic hall and they blew the fucking doors off. stiill to his day one of the best gigs i have been to. we all bought the album etc... and sang our little hearts out.. golden days.
@mez7737 Hi I also saw the Doctors At Barnsley Civic I agree it was the best concert i had ever been to. I remember them coming on stage in gas masks surrounded in smoke very erie but great. I bought all their albums and followed their career seeing them again at Sheffield Top Rank. Happy days the young of today dont know what theyve missed. My 2 favourite songs are Suicide city and Marie and Joe.
Pretty as a razorblade on a bloody day ! Got the 3 lp's from this band I used to listen to, and I also remember almost every word. Thanks for this post.
I saw the Doctors of Madness live in Leeds when Be-Bop never even made the show. One of the grestest hours of my life and it was totally free.
Who would have thought that 30 years later I'd be singing lead vocals to the third verse of Suicide City backed by Stoner on bass and Kid Strange on guitar live in Doncaster and Leeds.
...My feet were so humbled it felt like treading on gold.
How fantastic to hear this again - saw them twice, and many yrs later met R.Strange @ a party in the flat above mine in our house! - he interrogated me as to did I really know of them! - haha. He was cool when i told him where i'd seen him - very defensive tho'. 1st saw them support Be Bop Deluxe in Hull, then Pat Travers Band in Bridlington - only went to PTB gig to see DOM. :-) - brilliant pre punk foresight.
Yea thats known but where is he now. By the way pleased you refered to this as a record not cd ipod or some other junk.

there was such a great back-to-basics scene growing then with bands like the Doctors, Radio Stars and the Stiff/pubrock scene...we didn't need punk
