  • Them's hard lyrics to master. Aesop Rock, your my hero

  • who cares what others think about a song they like? or even bothers to respond or read what they say? you can like justin beiber or w.e I don't give a fuck as long as you're not trying to jam it in my car

  • "When I came through the sky like none shall pass" Lord of the Rings reference

  • @GlockAndAHatchet It's actually "With a cane to the sky like none shall pass", which would be the real Lord of the Rings reference, because Gandalf raised his cane to the sky during the fight with the Balrog.

  • Can somebody explain what "none shall pass" means?

  • @LizettaLZ It's a Lord of the Rings reference. Not sure exactly what he meant to get across with that lyric, there could be hundreds of meanings for it.

  • check out new musik @DamoDolla. Shout out Aesop Rock for doin his thang ya digg

  • Fuck Eminem, Aesop is king!

  • Pinnacle of the art man

  • Fuck...when you seriously spend hours deciphering his songs line by line, you'll be amazed by how much of genius Aesop is. And I mean every song too!! Fuck...

  • @dmh1069 agreed it's insane

  • Gandalf made this song

  • @onlywhatineed LOL one does not simply use the line "none shall pass"

  • i love aesop, his flow is ridiculous, and his lyrics are mind blowing

  • Can Someone Tell Me what this song is about??

  • @every1eatspieat12 The chorus means what goes around comes around. The people you think are strange or below you will one day rise up, and when they do you'll fall down. The first verse is about people's blood thirsty desire for violence in the rap industry, consequently making eager police department's job's easier as they simply sit back and watch these gangsters embrace the gimmick and eliminate each other.

The second verse is commenting on Aesop's desire to stay true to himself.

  • Def Jux > Rhymesayerz

  • am i the only one that knows all the words? took me a while though haha

  • Ill wit it

  • "sat where the old cardboard city folk swap tales with heads like every other penny throw"

    i love it.

  • Yeah

  • How in the name of fuck is Aesop not better known!?

  • Fuck yea

  • Yeah

  • Cant stop listening to this song...

  • Aesop rock...barly heard about him now I listen to almost all his music, its just fucken incredible the way he spits...VERY GOOD MUSIC.

  • this is unholily amazing. probably the best thing I heard all semester

  • Dope shit

  • Oh, and the reason Tyler the Creator is in the suggestions is because he talks in metaphors, just as Aesop does.

  • @IamtheJunkee It's because the titles and/or tags are similar.

  • I like the scratching. :o

  • Check out my "mash up" to this --- Go to Mandy Maio Acappella - Portishead + Aesop Rock! Hope you like! Leave love please. :)

  • I first heard this from a Samsung website for the YP-K3 Mp3 player, crazy huh?

  • @Dymundback That's how I first heard this song and found out about Aesop too

  • Dude I like, tripp out to this song!

  • this is jeremy fisher right? (the art work)..damn thatd be a dope ass piece.

  • because theyre from NY? am i wrong?

  • this takes me back! beautiful song

  • Hell yeah hella unique that's why I love this song and inspired me to make my own version

  • The rhythm to his flow is so unique I'd almost call it weird. Love it!

  • tbh aesop rock is below tyler the creator; these vocals aren't even adequate enough to match the potential this song has.

  • @sleepwalkq fuck that. man listen to him, its only a song he could do

  • This is actual rap, not like the crap we have today.

  • @artardscatman Hell yeah to that man

  • @artardscatman this is from 'today'

  • 13 people weren't let in

  • Eargasm

  • i think this song is about how the people in power all around the world are evil and corrupt and really don't care at all about the masses. Knowing Aesop it's probably about something completely different.

  • what is the sample???? where have i heard this beat this awesome beat before?!?!?!?!?!??! ahhhhhh!!!!

  • tyler the creator... LMFAO... get that trash out of here kid

  • @HobobotheClown why did you bring up tyler the creator ? ha

  • I always thought the first two words were "Flash step"...

  • Whaddup kaos iceman

  • Can we stop talking about other artists and talk about this epic flow?

  • @iancoheekelsey Thank You! I don't think it matters what's in the related videos or suggestions. If you don't like something just don't watch it, there's no need to trash it. It is possible to be a fan of Aesop and Odd Future, I know plenty of people who are. But the two are very different styles of rap and not comparable, and I can understand why not every Aesop fan is an Odd Future fan. To each his own, I posted this video because I love Aesop and I hope you all enjoy it too!

  • @PopShuvIt247 Not an Odd future fan?? I've never heard of such a thing.

  • and why the fuck does yonkers have 27 MILLION views

  • @stoneyj024 cuz hes a fucking walking paradox

  • @appleman1324 OF isn't anything like Aesop Rock, ignorant shit. That's like saying everybody thinks Aesop Rock is so original, when really all his shit is copying Tupac. That's just straight up fucking wrong.

  • What are we heart huckabee art fuckery suddenly?

  • Comment removed

  • 2:24-2:26 sneaks that in real quick fuckin caught it all high of weed whoopie pies

  • this song is epic

  • i have NO idea what he is talking about, but i like it

  • Why is Tyler the Creator in my suggestions...

  • @ferrettamer1 Took the keystrokes right out of my mind.

  • @ferrettamer1 cause tyler tries to bite and sample lyrics, flow, and style from aesop rock, and yet everybody thinks that odd future is sooo original..... they probably never heard of aesop rock

  • @ferrettamer1 why is Robert M in suggestions

  • @ferrettamer1 for people like me who listen to aesop rock and tyler the creator.

  • @ferrettamer1 Because he's an incredible artist too. Better than you'd ever be. Have some respect for other artists.

  • @LazyGuy56 Lyrically? No, I highly doubt he is better then me. Make more money then me? Probably

  • @ferrettamer1 Alright, go for it then. Lets see you put something on Youtube and say it contains more talent and is superior lyrically to Tyler, The Creator. This is a legitimate call out, I want to see what you got that is so superior to him. I'm not even his biggest fan but like I said, have some respect.

  • @ferrettamer1 because he is a walking fucking paradox

  • @bobo9012 love that lol

  • @ferrettamer1 lmaooooooooooo

  • @ferrettamer1 because he is a fairly good rapper as well, and youtube is trying to help you discover new music. I am sorry that youtube does not cater to your every music desire, however many people who have watched this video have also watched the Tyler the Creator video. You wanted an answer, right? Or was it a rhetorical question?

  • @jaceking29 dude get off that wolf dick. why are you listening to this if you like OF ?

  • @LyricalProjectile So, you're saying somebody can't like two different artists at the same time?

  • @ferrettamer1 Because you fail. Listen to the damn song and talk about that. Not the suggested videos.

  • @TheCataracsDev Classics never get old :3

  • @SickSchizophrenic Damn right :D

  • See the dislike bar? Me neither xD

  • Is the chorus screaming "Let me in" or "Fly me up high". Let me in would pay more logic to "none shall pass". But if I think about it i can also hear the "fly me up high".

  • okay, woke to a grocery list

goes like this: duty and death

anyone object come stand in the way

you could be my little snake-river-canyon today

  • I just heard this for the first time today. This song blew me away....this was 07'? I must have had my head in the sand for a long time.

  • I'm trying I'm trying... I'm trying to help... Deep shit Aesop.

  • our teacher had us listen to this in english.

im gonna miss that class. :(

  • fine

  • aesop rock rymes, little wayne spews retardation that repeats itself over and over, and little wayne is so much more popular. bullshit. cant tell you how many times iv recommended aesop rock and people say "naw i dont like rock, its stupid" and wont give it a chance when i explain its not rap...its the shit. fucked up world

  • @major1maggot AMEN TO THAT BROTHER "aesop rock rymes, little wayne spews Retardation that repeats itself over and over" WOW wut a summary of the truth he spews ignorance for sure man, little wayne thinks he saved hip hop he may have single handedly destroyed it for us! id trade wayne for a more famous immortal or aesop so theyd have more influence so they cud school these bitch made mc's running around with auto tune!!!!!

  • 9 people shan't pass.

  • Favourited 30 seconds in.

  • this song is ridiculous

  • It took too long to come to the darkside. Checkout blueprint

  • Okay, so I hate rap...but this guy is not typical of rap. This is awesome! The man has skills.

  • @Aelad99 I love how EVERY good rap song has a comment saying "I hate rap, but I like this" blah blah no one cares if you hate rap. -_- WE KNOW it isn't 'typical rap'. You don't need to explain that you normally don't like rap. A rap song that actually has substance, no wai!!11 There's a lot more of that than you think. You're just noobs, lol.

  • @dfminky couldn't have said it better my friend

  • @dfminky i luv this. but i also love lil wayne and drake :)

  • @dfminky It's very silly really. It seems to be something particular to rap, as well. There's definitely a prejudice, there. Rap is a very diverse genre, like any other. I don't think you would find a comment on a death metal song saying "I don't usually like rock music but this is alright." Or a Beatles song with the comment, "I don't usually like pop music but this is alright."

  • @jungsbodyguard I didn't expect to be top rated and get so many responses haha, but I'm glad people agree. And yeah, it's because people associate rap with a mainstream stereotype. I'm so far beyond that, it feels foreign to me hearing people criticize rap due to limited exposure. Yet it's something I deal with all the time, over and over having to explain myself that the kind of rap I listen to is not what they think. It gets old.

  • @jungsbodyguard however, you do get it in classical music and jazz. i think people are just trying to express that it is good, and the stereotype is for metal fans to hate rap. on most mainstream metal videos there are idiots posting "we hate rap, thumb me up!!11!" comments, so a metalhead sees it as a big deal migrating to rap. so that just explains the small example of metalheads but you get me right?

  • @Winnders Yeah, I get what you're saying and your explaination makes sense. I just don't agree with them doing it. They see it as migrating, as if they should have loyalty to a style of music, or liking one genre means you can't like another. That makes no sense to me.

  • @jungsbodyguard i totally agree. everyone SHOULD be open minded about music, but they arent, and such is life. ! too do not agree with the loyalty to a genre idea. :/ However, at least everyone is slowly beginning to respect greater music! We can always take comfort in the fact that we arent ignorant. :)

  • @dfminky

    Awesome comment.

  • @dfminky Noob's mean new so that has no impact here.

But if the person doesn't like rap well then why are they here?

But the person is just trying to get a reaction from people he is just trolling.

    Apparently he got you too.

  • @ProDropInsane "Noob" as in new to rap. No, that person wasn't trying to get a reaction. They were making a very common statement, that they generally don't like rap but they do like this song. It's idiotic to assume that's trolling when it's VERY common for people to not be into rap, but hear good rap like Aesop Rock and act surprised that there's a rap song they like, then feel the need to announce that it's not their usual preference. You sound really ignorant and presumptuous in your post.

  • @dfminky

Some people are unfortunate enough to have their opinions of hip hop and rap coloured by talentless shitwits like lil wayne and kanye west. Seldom will they hear aesop rock or nujabes or binary star before the mainstream shit played ad infinitum on the radio. It's saddening, but its the world we live in.

  • @tumeg8282 Exactly. It's not their fault they think rap and hip hop is shit, because until you dig, it IS shit. Same with any genre really.

  • @dfminky only thing i hate more than that is the people who respond to it I.E you

  • @DJRoadkill18seven Yeah, hate people for expressing things instead of just ignoring everything. Hate yourself for responding to me and continuing the cycle. I give a fuck if you hate me, your existence is of no worth to me.

  • i heard this at a party........FUCKING LOVE IT!

  • deltron 3030 is a group made up of dj kid koala, dan the automator AND del the funkee homosapien. stop arguing and enjoy the music.

  • Hey Lil wayne. Soulja Boy, T Pain, etc. Study this shit..

  • I love this song, but like... does it mean anything? It seems as if he is just randomly saying things. I might just not have an advanced enough mind set to understand, but can anybody tell me?

  • Aesop rock None shall pass VS Blockhead The music scene

    watch?v=4_qppAb8oWk&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

  • I think the song is about how the government and big corporations are ruling the world and controlling us like we're all modern slaves and pawns on this big chess board called Earth, but in the end the poor and abused will live like kings in Heaven while they beg to be let in, but all they will hear is "None Shall Pass." Atleast, that's my take on it. Either way, the song is amazing.

  • he kinda sounds like prozak, this is sick

  • Lol I remember Hearing this for the first time on Vh1s top animated music videos! Like 3-5 years ago!

  • This is my 1st time listening to this song and I love it!!!
