  • Heh. "Doggone" was a minced oathed for "Goddamned" LoL

  • Nixon was a great President, actually. All the pre-Bush Republican Presidents were great.

  • @freakylocz14 Had he not normalized relations with red China he would rank up there with Reagan and Ike.

  • kennedy?

  • You know what cat claw! I agree with you 100%- don,t know how or why I forgot about Abraham Lincoln-suppossing I was in an extra emotional mood-remembering Kennedy and the assasination- Thank you for reminding me!

  • i think they wanted nixon

  • i remember this from an episode of "Mad Men" -- first time i'd ever seen this ad.

  • Best President we ever had~ R.I.P. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy~we loved you then~we love and remember you alway,s~

  • @cindikleincuomo out of curiosity, what exactly constituted him as the best president we ever had?

  • @cindikleincuomo He was 2nd best, Lincoln was 1st.

  • God, this makes me laugh. No wonder Kennedy won that election.

  • I love this ad. Sorry to offend anyone, but it reminds me of the intros to the old TV sitcoms of the 50's. Sadly this was one of the last times these sorts of ads aired. Negative campaigning has been the norm since Daisy Girl.

  • I saw Eunice Kennedy Shriver and the others too...I think, lol.

    This ad is cool!

  • kennedy forever!!

  • I think they wanted people to vote for Kennedy.

  • @GusF really? lookes like a crayon flavoured ice cream advert

  • At the start of the new decade, a new, and younger family in the white house. The first president born in the 20th century. It was a time of optimism, and of unlimited possibilities. And it ended all too soon. I was only a child then, but I still remember.

  • nixon was a bad president

  • @legomaxmania Nixon was the greatest Republican president we ever had.

  • @stephenwinkler What about that Abraham Lincoln fellow?

  • @cndownloads Abraham Lincoln's opposition to the Mexican War was high treason. Our country suffered an unprovoked attack and our territory was invaded. It was our first Pearl Harbor and Nine/Eleven. My understanding is that the penalty for treason is death by hanging, not election to the presidency.

  • @stephenwinkler

Eh, Not Nescesarily. The Mexican American war was fought over DISPUTED TERRITORY, that doesn't mean our territory was invaded. We actually sent troops down to Texas, Orders by President Polk, and crossed the disputed border into territory we claimed was ours, and mexico claimed was theirs. Lincoln championed something called "Spot Resolution" on the note of that war. Show me the point where our men were attack in our territory and i'll vote yes on War.

    Polk couldn't.

  • @GeneralBurkhalter1 The Rio Grande was and is the southwesteren boundary of the United States. President Polk sent John Slidell to Mexico, to make every possible effort to encourage amity, promote peace, and urge harmony between the two countries. Mexico responded to this peace mission by launching an unprovoked attack on General Taylor's forces. "Mexico has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon American soil." Innocent America was a victim of an evil aggressor!

  • @stephenwinkler

Back then it wasn't. The border was disputed for years since the Texans revolted and formed the lone star state. After annexation, Polk decided to finish it off and get the land, along with all of the Western territories. He even bluffed out the british, threatening war and getting The land we now know as oregon and washington.

  • @GeneralBurkhalter1 On the contrary, the British won the best part of the Oregon settlement. The Democratic platform demanded all of Oregon in their slogan, "Fifty-Four Forty or Fight!" President Polk loved peace and compromised with the rational British. We allowed the British to have British Columbia. As President Polk said in his war message, Mexico invaded American territory and shed American blood. The Mexican government wanted war and was unreasonable, just like Hitler with Russia in 1941.

  • @stephenwinkler

    Russia? RUSSIA?

The Russians were set to invade German-Occupied Poland only THREE WEEKS after the Germans invaded Poland, and subsequently pushed all the way to the gates of Moscow before the breaches of the Tank Guns froze shut!

The land was Disputed, it wasn't Souly ours, the land was never "decided upon" who owned it, thats why is Disputed. You can't say they invaded our territory when we both claim it, thats simply not fair.

  • @GeneralBurkhalter1 Nobody has ever accused me of being fair. Our President, James Knox Polk stated the truth: "the Mexicans invaded our country and shed American blood on American soil." If you listen to our American presidents, with the exception of Obama, then you will be educated about the truth and the truth will set you free. Senator Goldwater has said," truth never dies. " I hope you are grateful for this bit of your education and enlightenment.

  • @stephenwinkler

You didn't enlighten me on anything.

My position still stands. It wasn't souly our land, it was disputed. They didnt "Invade our country" in fact, they had troops there before we ordered troops there. They had troops on the border for years, since the Texans rebelled.

  • @GeneralBurkhalter1 I really do not care, if the land was disputed. I only care about the need of living space for our United States of America. We also needed to acquire Cuba for the expansion of slavery. This is well stated in the Ostend Manisfesto. Unfortunately, our failure to expand into the Carribean Sea resulted in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

  • @legomaxmania Nixon finished the war Kennedy started and LBJ continued and escalared; ended the Draft; lowered the voting age to 18; Recognized China. So he wasn't as bad as history makes him out to be, IMO

  • @ReadmanJ yea he was good in foreign realations

  • I am surprised they had the shot of jackie and Caroline in the Ad. I didn't think they would use their family in an ad like that.

  • If you listen to this five times, you WILL NOT be able to get it out of your head! Repeditive advertising works.

  • @ahistoryproject So If i made an advertisement for Satan it would actually work?!?!? OH MY FUCKING GOD WE ARE ALL SCREWED

  • Kennedy!
