  • Awesome story Joy. I've missed ya. But i'm back ^.^ What an honor to have been that close. I'd love to have that experience

  • Wow awesome to see you again, You missed me Broadwy series that I still have to finish, I'll send you the first one

  • Thank you

  • Good story, Joy. (Reading your comments now!) I too had saw the Michael Jackson shuttle entrance at Wembley with his History tour, but now I can go to China too to witness a launch!:)

  • If you can, do so. It's and experience like no other

  • Good story, Joy. (Reading your comments now!) I too had saw the Michael Jackson shuttle entrance at Wembley with his History tour, but now I can go to China too to witness a launch!:)

  • I've been to Bagotteville airport (Quebec) as a kid and seeing F-101 Voodos, then later F-18's... A can only imagine to see/feel the space shuttle go off.

I'm a bit jealous, Joy. I believe you when you say that pictures don't do it justice.

  • Thanks Red. Pictures really don't do it justice. I wish and all my friends could experience just one if you could but sadly the shuttle program will soon end

  • you're a great story teller.

my only awesome shuttle experience was seeing Michael Jackson come out of his shuttle on stage in the History tour. lol

    thanks for sharing your story

  • hahahahahaha Micheal Jackson. Yanno he was so great in his day. I wish I could have seen him perform, he must have been incredible

    That's for the comment

  • Hey I know I was subscribed to you,I know I was, I just sub'd again and it let me, did you accidentally unsubscribe me??

Wow, Great story, lol, very well shared.

  • I would never unsub to you. I think this is happening to other people also. This new format is taking some subs away.

  • Great story, i'd love to see a Shuttle launch myself.

I've been to the Cape twice & did once see a small rocket launch & even that was pretty impressive :)

  • It really is impressive, even a small launch.

    Thanks Andy

  • Thanks so much for sharing! I laughed so much! Love to hear your memories! Kiss!

  • That's great Felix, lot's more to come. I was going to do one tonight but I have company. But soon

  • You're very welcome. Yep the windows were way up near the roof inside, I didn't notice them for at least an hour into the trip. Oh they also handed out these earplugs because it was so noisey in there as we were flying. What a trip. lol

  • C130 travel tip:

Cargo nets are great for sleeping on the way to Panama. :)

  • Yeah I saw those in there too. Panama??????lol

  • Yeah, I stayed in Panama, for a few days, en route to Ecuador. Glad I went, for perspective, but I do not have fond memories of my time there. Drug lords + poverty + bullets = no fun. =(

  • No, no fun at all. I'm glad you're safe now or are you lol, just kidding

  • Sometimes you could see the jet fly overhead when you were riding down the freeway. It was an interesting experience. No shaking of the ground, though. lol

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Be With You,

    Cal-el

  • I'll bet it was interesting. I forgot to mention that not only was my whole body feeling the vibrations but also I looked on the ground and pebbles were jumping up and down violently. Boy what an experience

  • It sounds much like being in a refinery when there are major, er, problems. lol

  • Great vlog joy! A coworker of mine is a huge fan of space research. The one time he was able to travel to see the shuttle launch, the had to post-pone due to weather. I'm going to be in FL in Feb with family, i wonder if there will be a launch then.

P.S. Is it sad that I'm thinking of the movie "Contact" as I write this? :)

  • OK I loved that movie. It got horrible reviews but I loved it. If there is a launch in Feb. try to see one. There are only a few launches left and then the Shuttle program is over.

  • Good movie, based on a GREAT book.

  • (((Joy))) How awesome for you to have experienced this moment in time. Thanks for sharing. ~Mimi~

  • I love you Mimi and thank you

  • They have a new ride at the cape now the launch experience you get to feel what it is like to be in the shuttle. They used a panel of 30 astronaut's to make sure it feels like the real thing

  • I heard about it. When I go back there I have to try it.

  • i've been in a C130, and i've rode in the cockpit on one- the AC130, is the same plane with guns, and in Nam the troops called it Puff the Magic Dragon. great story! peace

  • OK so you know what I'm talking about when I said it was enormous. Were you in Nam????

  • no i wasn't in Nam, i sent you a pm telling the story, because the comment section is way to short for that lol. peace.

  • what a wonderful story! I have lived in Fl. my whole life and the shuttle is def a huge part of that...so glad you posted this!

  • Hi sarry I'm glad you liked it.

  • I've heard about the ground shaking but from the look on your face, this is something that has to be experienced to be understood.

And, yep, TV is about as 'flat' as a pancake if ya ask me - moreso than Florida.

    ;-)

  • If time and space could be bent, I would have taken you :)

  • Thanks, Joy! And Lord knows I'm totally bent.

    ;-)

  • Why do i think the ground will be shakin' in FL for other reasons now? ;)

  • Fascinating story!!!! Five Stars!!!!!

  • Thanks my friend, see I'm not always political lol

  • I love your stories. Keep 'em comin'...

  • Really? Thanks I guess I will

  • Interesting story, Joy. They test the shuttle engines near here and you can hear AND feel it when they do. One criticism, Joy. Many women DO know what a C-130 looks like. Stereotyping is not a good thing.

  • Ummmm I wasn't sterotyping anything. I was just trying to explain it through my eyes. Sorry if I offened you. Thanks for watching though

  • If they get offended over THAT, just send them to my page! lol They'll never find you offensive again!

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Be With You,

    Cal-el

  • You read that huh????? I couldn't believe that. How petty. Love ya

  • Listen to what you say at 1:33. "For all the women out there I'm going to explain...." etc. My point is, please don't assume that "all those women out there" don't know what a C-130 is. That is a stereotypical statement. Interesting story anyway but please be careful of making assumptions about what one group or another does or doesn't know.

  • You are the second person to point this out to me. Geez, in my experience I didn't know if women knew what it looked like inside. Sorry if I offended you.

  • Nice Story Joy. Shuttle launches have always been a fav of mine. Never seen one in person thought, but I did write a basic program back in the 80's on a commodore 64 Computer of a shuttle launch. It Was Cool.

  • Man you're so good with computers I'm sure you did it proud. Thanks Cliff

  • Awesome video Fringe! By the way you described it, I felt like I was there. Oh, did you see Lewismadmax's video today? He could see the shuttle right from his backyard. It was awesome. The C-130 sounds like an incredible experience. I guess being registered as an RN, I don't have that embarrassment. I could just pull off my pants and squat anywhere, not that I am not lady like. I do prefer a bathroom and privacy. 5 stars!

  • Yes you are a lady lol. Lew sent me his vid and it was terrific. He lives pretty close to the Cape. How cool was that to see it in your own backyard.

  • the bathroom situation sounds like a nightmare! thanks for sharing your story. sounds exciting, if i have the chance i'll go see one.

  • It's so much more then what you see on TV. If you get the chance, see one, you won't regret it

  • what a great story!!!! i guess if i had to go bad enough, i could have gone on that drum can, too, lol (i can only imagine the sight that was!) your description of the takeoff was very vivid, i could almost feel the engine thrusts!

  • I should have taken a photo of the inside of it. But we didn't have digital back then.

That's what got to me, the beauty of the Shuttle in person was awesome, but to feel it in my body made me feel I was on that thing. It was almost spiritual.

  • Love your story. The shaking would be scary. When I lived in Hawaii, a trio of B-2's flew over our apartment and the whole building shook like there was an earthquake. The power of the shuttle, though, would be immensely more powerful. Totally unfair to women to have long lines in bathrooms. Around here, they shove the guys aside and take over their bathroom. LOL.

  • That bathroom story was so funny. When I got out and saw that line it was like they said to themselves, thankgod she hads the nerve to do it. Now it's my turn lol

  • Neato!

  • Thanks

  • Lucky stiff! I ALWAYS wanted to see a mission launch! The best I got to see was the shuttle land at NASA in Houston (Clear Lake, actually).

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Be With You,

    Cal-el

  • I would love to see a landing. Those look great when you see them land. You lucky stiff lol

  • I remember where I was exactly when both shuttles went down though they were years apart, having grown up in Florida.

The first time we heard the sonic boom, went out of the classroom, saw the odd shaped con-trail and cheered and then got the news a few minutes later.

The second time I heard as I was pulling into Gainesville to do a show, which afterward just seemed just too surreal to play.

I don't know why I wanted to share that, but you made me think.

  • I guess because I already saw that flight with Sally Ride I could tell instantly that it blew up. I cried for days. That was the first teacher in flight. It was surreal. Please make a vid about it. Those are things we all remember where we were when it happened. Do a vid

  • That WAS cool was it not? I remember the signs Ride, Sally Ride! How cool you got to see it in person! My cousin had a chance to see a lift off and she described it the same way. The shuttle is set to end soon, most of us will not get to see a lift off.

  • Your cousin must have loved it. It's very different in person.

I heard the shuttle flights will end soon, but I think they are replacing it with a different craft but I'm not sure. I'm glad you liked it.

  • Great Vlog

  • Thanks Tink

  • I am no fan of flying whatsoever. I do it because there are places in the world I want to see, plus a lot of my family is in India.

  • Then you have to fly. I hate it

  • thanks for all the info joy!

  • Your welcome
