deffinately not an expert...love the accent, makes him sound even less qualified to talk about it. its like he's making observations and doesnt actually know anything about the head and the widget in the bottle. i like how he called the widget "a tick"
I'm a big fan of Murphy's Irish and also Beamish. London Porter is pretty good. I've also had chocolate and oatmeal stouts. But there's nothing wrong with Guinness. There's also a nice black ale called Old Engine Oil from Scotland. Boddington's Pub Ale is pretty creamy.
Never pour a bottle of guinness. The widget is designed to allow nitrogen out on every sip in small amounts. If you want to pour it out get a nitro can.
It does seem to still work , as seen from this video.
My guess is that while the bottle widget thingy is designed to help with sipping the beer right out of the bottle, the thing will still work good enough to pour into a glass.
had it not worked it would be very easy to know so by looking at the head.
NO NO NO... This is a common misconception. TECHNICALLY, anything outside of Pilsner or Lager falls into the Ale category. But there are multiple versions of ale, including Stout, Porter, Pale Ale, India Pale Ale, etc. Ales use a different type of yeast than Pilsner. Pilsner uses a yeast that works in colder environments in order to create very clear and golden beverages, I think it's top-fermented as opposed to bottom fermented.
In Germany and the Czech Republic "Pils" is beer which is brewed under the rules of the "Pilsener Brauart" from the town Pilsen (Plzen) in the Czech Republic!
In the USA or in Australia, ... it is classified as lager, like Kirke182 wrote.
That's a cool hat.

Guiness is good only in the Extra Stout bottle. Foreign Extra is way too bitter and the draught... welll... .:)

@eshbrobgm3 When he says the mid 1800 he clearly means the mid of the 18th century which is correct.

Guinness tastes best at the start and end of the pint, when u get the most head from the glass and the most creamy taste :p

Guiness Stout IS an ale, idiot. Stout beer IS ale. You have ales and lagers. Guiness is certainly NOT a lager.
Kirke182 2 years ago 2
what are the light beers then? or whats pilsner classified as?
lobzdik 2 years ago
Light beers are generally lagers but there are pale ales just as there are dark lagers. A pils is a lager.
Kirke182 2 years ago
"Light beer" is normally beer with less alcohol.
In Germany and the Czech Republic "Pils" is beer which is brewed under the rules of the "Pilsener Brauart" from the town Pilsen (Plzen) in the Czech Republic!

There are two types of beer: lagers and ale. Guinness is a stout or porter, which is a type of ale.
