As long as the country agreed to be communist (which Minh obviously was), the Soviets were just friendly towards them. The only form of imperialism that the USSR engaged in was the conglomeration of all the satellites, like those -stan countries. At least the Russian national anthem shows power, strength, and unity and the tone of the song never changes. People keep saying there is no right way to sing the US national anthem.
