  • I found that trying to drink oatmeal can not only make you choke, it just sinks to the bottom, my advice is put all your oatmeal in a blender and blend it untill its a fine powder keep it in an old protein tub or dry food container and add it to your protein hey presto Protein and Carbs in one shake, no slop and no choking lol

  • I've had this shake before. I saw a video of Trey Brewer making it. I don't like normal oatmeal normaly, but I do like this drink with normal oatmeal. Try to let the oatmeal sit in the fridge so it can absorb the milk. Add some creatine, beta-alanine, glutamine, andd-ribose. I like chocolaten protein. :)

  • I have been reviewing all of these comments and questions, and to be honest, about 90% of what I am reading is complete and total bullshit. Some of you wouldn't know the difference between fact and fiction. My advice to many of you, talk to somebody who actually KNOWS and has BEEN THERE and back, or simply pick up a book or begin researching some empirical studies.     Try using 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 cup strawberry halves or 1 half banana, and then 2-3 scoops whey. Add water and ice according to how thick you like your shake. Blend it up. Now you have one hell of a shake. There, just saved everyone 1:48 of their life.

  • @MichaelBrymer Carry a blender bottle or something of that ilk geared towards easy portability, and BAM! instant protein shake. Besides, when you eat a protein shake (especially for recovery) it is supposed to contain blended sugar sources that will spike insulin faster. Oatmeal is OK but when you are trying to shuttle protein into your muscles within the first 30 minutes, you may want to try whey isolate ionized or microfiltered, fruit, yogurt, and even low-fat ice cream.

  • @MichaelBrymer It really depends on what you are doing and what your goals are to your exercise program. What I recommend is a 1:4 ratio of protein:carb in your recovery shake. Keep your protein intake between 30-50 grams of whey isolate, and then add in enough fruit, yogurt, skim milk, etc as needed that has good sources of *sugar* that it will balance out.

  • @markkochubey After your intense work out. all the protein does is repair your muscles so it is pointless to take it if you just fuck around in the gym and dont work hard. it will just make you fat if you dont work out hard.

  • @CR250RidR actually arnold relied heavily on protein shakes..of course his diet was immaculate. shakes are not completely necessary but there aren't very many bodybuilders who dont take them. chickens and other protein sources have fats and carbs aswell as the majority being protein. whey is (usually, with the better kinds) pure protein and already pre-digested.

    True whey is the best out there. It has the highest protein content I have come across, one 25g serving has 19g of protein. I've also tried others, Maximuscle is equally as good but more expensive.   • Good point, sort of. The guy doesnt explain it right. You need carbs to be able to "shuttle" the protein to your muscle cells (insulin used as the "train", kind of an analogy), and to be able to activate your muscle glycogen stores. Also ur forgetting the EFA's in the vid, like flax oil or fish oil or something.

  • You don't NEED carbs at all, I eat less than 30g of carbs a day with one high day of 60g per week and I put on 10 kg of muscle last year (constant bf % so it was all muscle)

    Now, onto my high horse- It simply amazes me the absolute crap that most Americans eat almost around the clock. However, many of these same people will question the diets followed by bodybuilders which, in fact, are quite healthy. Excess sugar, sodium, processed food, etc. will kill you- Not quality protein.

  • Nice Vid! if you have spare time try using a blender and even add a bannana and some yoghurt, this way everything is blended and your not lef with the mush at the bottom you have to chew up.

  • Grind up the oats first (coffee grinder), otherwise you'll have to *chew* down the shake. Also, you filled the bottle up too high.

  • True..or just order Ultra Fine Scottish oats from myprotein!! a couple of quid for a kg worth and the moer u order the cheaper it gets..they also sell flavoured and unflavoured whey with more protein per serving than any branded manufacturer and with more servings per kg bough than any other. Too many supplements like Muscletechs etc are over hyped with a load of flashy packagin and Claims. i like 2 scoops MP whey, 2-3 scoops fine oats, crushed flaxseeds and a banana. Around 650-800cals.

  • Here in Japan the only oats I can find are instant oats, they've been rolled and cut. Most bodybuilders have them for breakfast but I have this shake about 3 times a day. Each shake has about 500 calories, so if you are like me and want to gain wait (muscle) then have it between meals.
