Hi Hashi! I'm getting outside my comfort zone with this arrangement. I'm trying to learn finger-style. (Also, I love the Temptations). Thanks for listening and commenting.
@carvetop01 It's a good thing to switch to an acoustic and fingerstyle now and then. I'm pretty well hooked at this point. The acoustic brings out many thing I didn't know I had and is just a good experience.
My comfort zone is already totally uncomfortable for most listeners so I have to watch it ;)
@carvetop01 Just thinking how regardless of what type guitar I played (Steinberger, strats, solids for 30 years, then archtop, lately flattop) , that I play exactly the same way, but the flattop has really opened things up for me because they sound so different. I think it's really a good thing for your, all of our playing.
This last two month I was on the road and not connected to YouTube, but now I'm back and happy to see your new videos...
Good interpretation yours of the song "My Girl", every men need their girl to for living Happy, you've got your lovely Nancy since a long time and it's really Beautiful, eso me hace feliz hermano...
Excellent Allen....it's tough to keep that bass line moving and play a nice lead line. You pulled it off beautifully. That's a great performance. Thanks for letting me know you uploaded it.
Thanks Jim. I'm a big fan of Motown. I watched several of your arrangements yesterday. You have been quite prolific. I hope you keep posting. You play many different genres. You take on 12th of Never is outstanding.
Allen,a truly wonderful arrangement, combining bass line and melody, I love the songs out of that period,I think this was Stevie wonder (maybe his first large hit). I'm sure this has very special meaning for your Nancy, a very smart arrangement indeed,I'm off to Spain for the inspiration, greetings Vic.(You're sounding great here Allen).
Love the song, and your picking, Allen, thanks so much for sharing. And Nancy is beautiful - 42 years? Wow! That is wonderful. Mine was 37 wonderful years, and would have been this August 47 years, but I had to give him up to cancer, and I still miss him so, so cherish every moment you have. Take care, my friend. Gwen
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine. Cancer is an evil that I hope one day we find within us the cure. Nancy and I have been on a great journey. I hope our best days are ahead of us. Thank you for listening and commenting.
Do you refer to Towa(SRatM)? If it is, I gotta hear how you break that down onto 6 strings!!. I know from your other uploads that you enjoy a challenge, but......Phew. This will be special.
Excellent stuff, dear Allen! Gotta say, I particularly like the bit at 0.57 onwards, where you do the echoing vocal harmonies...Smashing playing and tune... Wish I could wander up and down the fretboard like that with all o them fab chords!
Congratulations to you and the lovely Nancy. Wow, what a great picture.
Thank you Barry. I took that photo in Edinburgh. I was living and working in Glasgow at the time. Beautiful country Scotland is and populated with very agreeable people. They made me feel at home.
Cheers neillian. I read that you are a big fan of Scotland. Me too. I lived and worked in Glasgow for 15 months. Beautiful country populated with very nice people. They made this American feel at home.
Back for a second listen. There are some complex and difficult parts in this arrangement, and fingerstrechings over some frets. This is a mixture, rhythmical and melodical. Basically it´s an easy going song, isn´t it?!, but here we can see how an arrangement improves it. well done, Allen.
Thank you Frank. It's hard to voice vocal lead and harmonies, bass, violins on just 6 strings......Es ist dem Versuchen ähnlich, zehn Pfund der Scheiße in eine Sechs-Pfund-Tasche zu stellen.
Hi Allen! An absolutely beautiful rendition! Your guitar has a wonderful deep, rich sound! What a lovely tribute to your wife! Congratulations on 42 years! Fabuous! All the best! Babs
Hi Allen ,thats a nice arrangement ,and great playing my friend, wow, and evryone knows that melody, have a nice weekend ,and my compliment ,goed gedaan ,geweldig,Groetjes Kees.
Congratulations to you and Nancy! ;-) Hey, Allen, this is funny, cause two weeks ago my Nephew married, and this special song "My Girl" was their wedding song!!!
And even much better: this weekend (tomorrow) we´re celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary!!!! Great!!
BTW, nicely played, good bass line together with the melody and chords!
What a wonderful rendition Allen. That Taylor has such a rich deep tone!! I have a 614CE from 2004 but I rarely play it because of the ease of the T5 for my short fingers. Anyway, your timing was just perfect as there is nothing like a classic Motown tune to lift ones spirits. ( I'll write you a personal note about that soon). Your precision is amazing and I admire you very much.......Happy weekend...Pamela
@carvetop01 The neck is thicker for sure. My hand gets tired quickly with it. AND Happy Anniversary. What a precious gift to give your wife. We are such suckers for a personal love song you know!! She is a blessed woman ....Pamela
Thank you Uli. 42 years and still going strong. I thank you for your encouraging words. I think I might try a fingerstyle jazz arrangement next. It is so hot here. I wish Autumn would hurry and arrive and end my misery :-)
Let me be the first to say how absolutely excellent this is. What else need be said. You are mastering this finger style thing my friend. Just keep on keepin' on!!!
