Company A, 123rd Aviation Battalion, 16th Group (Combat), Americal Division. 610 Transportation Company. I heard this song at a restaurant near Fort Rucker. I've always loved it.

  • @doorgunnerAmerical WELCOME HOME RVN ... RIGHT ON.

  • Daytona Beach boardwalk and arcades, late eighties...

  • I was twelve when this song came out and I loved it the first time that I heard it!

I went right to the record store to get the 45. It's just so uplifting! Even for a twelve year old!!! Love ya Tommy!

  • This was one of the top songs in Vietnam (1969-1970) One of my favorite still today!

  • My favorite 60s song <3

  • LEMBRA-SE DE MIM....CÁ.....2006

  • Great single version. The Album (stereo) version is slightly different, the break in the middle with the bongos is different, plus there are no horns on the album version and the ending tag has heavy reverb. I think the album version is better.

  • I love to hear oldies on 45. It just sounds real.

  • As an English student working in NYC in 1969, this brings back strong memories of a hot and sticky summer and Woosdstock that I just missed. I used this song in a dance show I recently produced. I never grow tired of it

  • I just picked up my 4 large jugs of wine and pumped up to find some new 60's music on Youtube like this one by someone I forgot-Tommy James and the Shondelles. I wonder if they have a wine song like Neil Diamond...Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • @oniallain1965 Sweet Cherry Wine by Tommy James and the Shondells

  • Isn't it just funny how we grew up into the people we didn't trust then?

  • Idealism of the 60s. We thought we could change the world. We didn't..

  • peace and good and brotherhood..i can dig it..can you..

  • What a coincidence, I have this 45 too. But it is autographed by Tommy James himself. Great song with a great message about the new earth in store for those who believe

  • sweet and good music i love it.....

  • Great song, wish I grew up in the 60's and 70's. Such a more open minded peaceful world back then. Now its just all about wars and natural disasters, some man made like the oil spill. I hope with the new weed movement that we go back to those days. Peace to all being's and races, lets stop the violence!

  • @kdoslie100 Sorry dude, not quite sure what you mean there..

  • @mikeejaylovessoul

It means they've hooked up and now need to go off somewhere and do the horizontal bop.

  • @realnycguy i think we all put those stickers on our 45's! do you have your index page? fyi, i am 47 years of age.

  • @realnycguy Yeah...REAL sophisticated... Peace, bro... I know that you were making a joke, and I got it...thanks for the laugh!..Hello to a fellow fan who understands...

  • @realnycguy wow, what a great YouTube story!

  • Hey i listen to the CoasttoCoast show last night, Tommy was really personable and answered very honestly about the history of the group.. just listening again to all their music make me remember what our generation's mission was. like the tune says Peace, love and taking care of one another.. were did we go off the track?

  • This is just one great song by Niles, MI favorite son. I remember when it was released in 1969 just shortly before I got married. It had such a wonderful sound, just like the many other hits he had. What is remarkable is that he was so popular during the period when the British Invasion was at its peak.

  • I couldn't agree more. Most of the western world were transfixed, quite rightly by the enourmous British invasion. Anyone who survived, like TJ, and is still around, is a very unique entity.

  • Love the sounds of the old 45's!!

  • Oh my why is it that everysong from 1967 to 1974 was supposed to be about acid. In an interview about three years ago Tommy said he was going through a period of spiritual thinking when he wrote the song. The song he said was supposed to be about spiritual awakening. " I think I was going through a spirtual awakening at the time" ..."and out of that came crystal Blue Persuasion"

  • My favorite part is when he refers to GOD/JESUS looking down!!!!! " Maybe tomorrow, when HE looks down; All of HIS children, every nation...there'll be peace and good, brotherhood"...Anything to do with JESUS!!! "When we asked James if "Crystal Blue" is a reference to the Book of Revelation, he replied: "Yes, it is. It's out of the Bible. The imagery was right out of Chapter 19 of the Book of Revelation, about the lake of crystal, and just what John sees." Songfacts

  • I am 19, but I grew up listening to a now-defunct oldies station in my home town. This song reminds me of my childhood, even though I grew up in the mid-1990's. This is truly a timeless, classic song.

  • @kbuchanan44 Amen, man! I am 22 and grew up listening to the greats. In Afghanistan now, still listening!

  • @dunkirchen1940 I don't know if we should be over there still, but I hope to God you and all your buddies make it back safe and sound. Until then, keep listenin' to the good stuff!

  • @dunkirchen1940 Stay safe buchanan....

  • Epic.

  • this was the idea of the sound

  • It is a song of peace and love and god .

  • @tiesthatbind08 AMEN!!!! GOD IS SOOOO HIP..

  • hawk, your right. and we need more of the same now!

  • If you were there, you'd know....yes, it was rumoured that this was slang for acid....but if you were there you knew it was just love and peace and love and peace. The music of that era will NEVER be equaled......you see, there was something called a "cause"....you know like Vietnam, like not putting up with the man any longer....ya know, we really did change the world...it just took us a while to realize it......it was the music that got us there!

  • @hawk1866 : well you got ONE THING right : the music. Boomers ruined the country, just look around you. Nothing but hypocrisy came from that era. You all protested and whined about the govt., and Vietnam etc... sure you affected policy in Asia, and millions of people died b/c of it. Now you have your "president" and the Liberal policies you so demanded, and all to find out : it was COMMUNISM all along....so , dont pat yourself on the back, your gen. did nothing special

  • @hawk1866 You are totally right on Hawk!!

  • @hawk1866 Changed the world from Leave it to Beaver, to Family Guy.

    And now we're in Afghanistan.

    Great job.

  • The seventies were the best!!!!!

  • Gotta love this song

  • Makes me want to cry

  • great name for the product from Breaking Bad.

  • is there any truth to the age old myth that CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION was actually acid? LSD?????

  • @hawk1866 I dont think its true... but there was a kind called "Blue Cheer", which was used by a sanfran band by the same name :D

  • your a nit wit

  • The most beautiful song EVER!!! I saw Tommy James at Grand Casino, Biloxi, MS, got the pleasure to kiss him, touch him (in a good way (lol)) and to tell him that he is adorable!!! He RULZ!!!! still handsome and Yummy!!! (well good lookin")
