Some of these comments are SO beyond childish. I like both Malmsteen and Stump, and their flavor on this music style. I also like George Lynch who isn't neo classical metal at all, but then again he's his own master of the fretboard. I've been playing for over 30 years and I'm still learning from greats like these. From Jimi Hendrix to Tony MacAlpine to the newer European shedders out there...there is always something to learn and apply.
Take it to heart and apply it to the fretboard! :)
@FadeToBlack181 who created neoclassical metal ? answer yngwieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee joe stump is good he is awsome but yngwie is the original guitarist that created this kind of music
@FadeToBlack181 and at the end of the day, hardly anyone knows about Stump. On the other hand Malmsteen is considered a guitar god...You and Stup = 0, Malmsteen = 1.
Nothing like old shreddin rock to get it going. Guy has talent and a small ego. I emailed his web site and he replied in 2 days. Then sent an autogrphed photo. Would Yngwie do that.?? Stump has taken neo-shred to a new hard core rock level....
You're damn right, bro.. i often email him and he always replies, he's such a nice guy as well as a great virtuoso shredder.. ShredLord fucking rules!
@wedge070 The one thing you can say about Yngwie is, in spite of his large personality, he really, really loves his fans! He's said many times that, without them, he'd just be some "Swedish bloke playing guitar".
Kickass stuff!!!!!!!!! Stump rules! Shred's not all about soloing, and this is a great proof. Making a great riff is hard. SOloing like an animal is hard. Creating instrumental music, a whole album, being interesting for 60 or so minutes, soloing playing riffs, whatever - that's what so few guitarist have. STUMP IS GOD!!! :D
Aren't I allowed to express my opinion without getting a thumbs-down and having someone trying to expose my ignorance?
I wasn't talking about the whole song. Parts of it, particularly in the beginning/middle, had riffs that put to my mind early Metallica (RtL/MoP especially).

dunno if this counts as shred. sounds a bit like old Metallica, it's got the same raw metal-ness about it.
NorrisChuckling 3 years ago
I agree that there is hardly any shred in here, however it sounds almost nothing like Metallica.
