You guys need to invest in a better quality external mike, like the one I've had in my Amazon queue for about a year--the Zoom H4n Handy Portable Digital Recorder.
@Jude1955 I would imagine because it would mean having one more thing to take travelling, and they do A LOT of travelling. Why bother when your inbuilt mic is pretty much sufficient?
No need to fight about microphones, i enjoy the videos even when there is noise about!
