@iconoclast137 Wow thats amazing I get to speak to someone from Oscar Blues, this beer was sent to me by a fan who watches in America. I really want to review the rest of your range on my show here. Any ideas if this is achievable?? Cheers
@MrTerryKay Hello Terry, this was sent to me from another beer reviewer in America, im really not sure you can buy one, in all honesty though, one of my more recent reviews of another Imperial was better tasting and smoother, it was Dark Stars Imperial Stout, cheers :)
Haha, not many people can drink many Ten Fidy's. They only come in four packs over here. The ABV is 9.5% now. Originally it was 10.5% I think. 10-50 is motor oil term though, fitting for the color and viscosity of that beer.
@StumpyJoeJr Whow it was vicious Ryan, I fell asleep in the chair after I did Ten Fidy and Flower Power, my wife said I was in a deep sleep, mumbling to myself,LOL
A fantastic Imperial stout, I wish I could get more beers for Oskar Blues. I think its great that such a good beer is packaged in can, cans aren't just for crap lager.
Careful how quick you chug that big old beer, you'll be on your back.
It appears you are very much a convert to US style beers.
Ten Fidy beats the pants of drain cleaner like Old Tom. Try and find Marble's Decadence Imperial stout for a fantastic UK example of the style.
@HopZine I love the American styles now they are great, it is well cool Oskar Blues pack their beers in a can, I think they were the first craft beer company to do so.
I did chug it a bit quick, I reviewed the Itheca Flower Power after and it was a bit messy LOL
Great review Simon! Nice to see you try your first Imperial Stout, but a pretty big one for your first. You can also get Imperial Stouts in the UK e.g. Samuel Smith makes one which isn't as big as this one. But 10,5% is a hughe beer. I have one Imperial Stout cellaring on 18%!!!! This one sounds pretty good, I would love to try it sometime. Cheers pal!
@TheMasterOfHoppets It was mind blowing Peter, really good, WOW thats amazing you have one at 18%, that would blow my socks off, I will look for the Sam Smiths Imperial Stout, sounds very interesting. Keep up the good reviews my friend ,Cheers
@TheMasterOfHoppets I personally think you should age it at least a year. I aged one that was from a bad batch for about 8 months. It was still abrasive, but I think it was already from a not-so-good batch, and I don't remember if it was refrigerated already. I'd give it at least a year in the cellar though, in my opinion.
@ChadzBeerReviews Next up Itheca Flower Power IPA, your a real diamond sending me these beers Chad, they are so new and fresh from the style of beer im used to, im really enjoying the lesson's in different styles of beers, cant wait to do the interview and beer review next wednesday.
I was kicking myself watching this again I realised my mistake in saying 98% IBU's, nevermind.
WOW!!! I was wondering how you got this beer. That is quite amazing you got this beer. So great Chad sent you this beer. 10.5% is a crazy beer to drink over in the UK, innit?
YES, it is very chocolatey. It's one of the more chocolatey imperial stouts out there. I didn't know it's 98IBUs. It doesn't taste like it.
@BeerichiTuba I think 8/10 is a fair rating. It is quite strong. But it shows that you have great taste so you can tell yourself that it is a really good beer, huh? I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
@BeerichiTuba Yeah 10.5% is crazy for the UK and it was my first Imperial Stout, I think if I was to drink Imperial Stouts more often I would love them, its like anything in life though you just have to get used to it, the only drink that I loved straight away was the IPA's you have over there, I took to them straight away, this was a top drink though, I can see why people rate it so highly, thanks for watching Winton, Cheers
@realaleguide That's great, man. If you want to try another one that you should be able to get there is Samuel Smith's imperial stout. That one's quite good and it's not as strong either.

@TheMasterOfHoppets Is the 18% you're cellaring the Tokyo or World Wide Stout?
BeerichiTuba 1 year ago
@BeerichiTuba World Wide Stout. Its from 2008 but im think about aging it about 6 months to a year more.

Never heard of it but it looks delicious. Let me know if you're ever in Chicago. You need a tour of some breweries, lol.

Great review, Simon!
Just a couple corrections:
I'm in Albany, NY which is about 150 miles north of New York City.
IBUs aren't a percentage, they're just a count. It's possible to go over 100. Some beers are 110 or 120 IBUs. Mikkeller makes a beer called 1000 IBUs.
I've actually never had this one but I always hear great things about it. I think it's awesome that a Russian Imperial Stout comes in a can.
I'll review this one in 2011. Too many beers competeing for my top 10 of 2010 as it is
