i went here all during my childhood and i remember so much about the loving people there.i fell and got knocked out cold at the bottom of those training steps. we put soap suds in the fountain after sneaking out of our rooms, raced our chairs and stretchers through the halls. yeah, a lot of surgery and pain, but a lot of love, too. learned how to drive with hand controls and to life a pretty good life despite polio. loved pine mountain and Callaway gardens, too.
I used to go to Warm Springs when I was a boy. I remember the patio outside Roosevelt Hall and that bas-relief carving. I had surgery at Warm Springs once, and every day I was wheeled on my stretcher out to that patio and I would see those carvings. Is that FDR? There is one of FDR, and one of Helen Keller.
I'm trying incredibly hard to get in here.. I have been for close to two years, but needed some psychiatric preparation first due to some specific mental issues I had. I just took my very last psychiatric evaluation today and even wrote a personal letter to the admittance committee since it's been such a long wait--it seems absolutely beyond perfect for me, almost too good to be true. I've taken a tour there, too, and know everything they offer, so I really just can't wait.. I hope I get in!
if you can get in you are going to love it. I was there in 03 but had some personal issuses i need to deal with and left the program voluntarly. so I am working hard to get back in.
Its a great program and unlike Job Corps they do what they say they are going to do and they help the students in every aspect.
also they offer psych treatment access to a nursing team alot of outings and alot of hobbies. i wish you luck
Man, I've been so excited for this, and your reply has only caused me to revel in my luck for having found this wonderful istitution even moreso. I've actually finally gotten in, and will be down there by mid-October.. when I finally get my date, it's so soon, but yet I wish it were even sooner; I just can't wait! I really hope the best for you as well, I hope you can get back in since it sounds like you'd really do well and cherish it this time.
anytime. just wondering what trade are you wanting to get into? I finaly completed a cna (certified nursing assistant) training course up here in augusta, ga out of pocket now I am planning on goning for my "soft: skills" the psychological help to make sure i don't have any anger relapses or depression spells because of my Autism aka Asperger's Syndrome.
But if they put me in another trade its all good because one thing is for sure they know what they are doing.
End the summer by taking a swim in the 88-degree warm springs made famous by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Normally kept empty, the historic pools will again be filled and open to the public for Labor Day Weekend. Swimming sessions begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday through Monday, and reservations are recommended. All remaining tickets will be sold first-come first-served. 706-655-5870
Good Job, but there is so much more there then just the Quad area and Georgia Hall - Camp Dream and the RCTR would have added to the show...maybe next time. It's a great place to work as well!
I think the video is great! Maybe you could take some video of other areas you speak of and do your own youtube. I don't see any other videos of the institue on-line, and I think this is a fitting tribute.
I would suggest if you don't like the newer areas after FDR, maybe getting some of the cottages of his era that are on campus. McCarthy is the best and the one he lived in prior to the Little White House being built.
i went for animal care but i didn't like it back then because I was very immature and had alot of problems in my life. I dropped out but this time im more mature and trying to get back in Im thinking of going back for CNA this time or maintence or communication officer or forklift driving and complete it this time if not I got some schools here in augusta that might train me in the samething.
