remember listening to this taking the train back n forth from the suburbs into boston in the dead of winter . soooo powerful , if you can imagine his sadness then face people with a smile . miss you elliott ....
Really dig the music here/I wish i had a drum set ,guitar, organ, second guitarist, back up vocalist/This music is top notch/Glad to stop in to hear good music/
I don't understand why youtubers' dislike videos. If you don't like the video (song), then why look it up in the first place? I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I'm merely expressing my personal opinion...
sometimes you end up somewhere by the recommendations on the homepage or the suggestions on the right side.... not by searching it.. then you dislike it.., and feel a desire to express it and press dislike
Everything means NOTHING to ME and Elliott is alive still every song is better than the last one and you guys shut the FUCK up haha I leave with with some advice from a place more powerful than me "DON'T GO DOWN, you bitch asses"
@islespatrick Well, it's all personal taste really. I'm not too wild about hearing people say shit like, "oh so and so is the greatest musician ever, etc." It's pointless. No one will ever agree, which makes perfect sense. I also get sick of people focusing on the fact that he's dead and committed suicide. So what? I love his music because he was just a great songwriter. He didn't use common chord changes or simple lyrics, and the melodies appeal to me. Simple reasons, no gushing necessary.
@islespatrick why is it that every elliott smith video i go to, you're there trolling? so you have an opinion, take it somewhere that others will care and you can feel superior in your convictions.
powerful, emotionally honest lyrics, unique voice, beautiful melodies, skill at experimenting with many different forms of songwriting and arrangements
his music is a pleasure to listen to and he was able to connect with his listeners in a very deep and meaningful way. He was able to switch back and forth between different styles of music with ease, without losing his distinctive personality as a songwriter
@islespatrick He has long melodic ideas, he uses orchestration and varies texture and the composition fits the mood of the lyric. He writes self revealing lyrics, that focus on the insecurities and self loathing we all feel at certain times. He isn't trying to hide anything. He doesn't "show off", what he did was appropriate and subtle. Most great artists were masters of the subtle. If you have to flaunt something in someone's face, that means you are covering for what you don't have.
@islespatrick He's a lyrical genius, im my opinion. He had been though so much tragedy and heartbreak in his life, like us all; this guy is just an expert and putting it into words, and beautiful words at that.
Not everyone can accept it. Some people just don't want to see it. Which is fair enough.
god every time i hear an elliot smith song i just have to light up a cigarette and be sad for a while.. i know that sounds emo as fuck but his music just has a way of revealing all the sad things in my life.
His real name was Steven Paul Smith and he changed it to Elliott/Elliot and if you look at some of the videos of him in the Studio his producers and other's used Elliot and Elliott. I'm sure it wasn't it big concern to him.
Wouldn't Mama be proud :)

Just occurred to me: the one thumbs-down on every single one of these videos is all probably the same ugly, smelly troll.

who cares about the spelling? I've seen Ween spelled Wean and Weem. Doesn't change the music.

If you love Elliott and listen to his music so often how come you can't spell his name correctly?
AnastasiaExpert 2 years ago
His real name was Steven Paul Smith and he changed it to Elliott/Elliot and if you look at some of the videos of him in the Studio his producers and other's used Elliot and Elliott. I'm sure it wasn't it big concern to him.
rileymacjuice 2 years ago
Yes, I am aware of what his birth name was. Elliot was not how he spelled it though. When people spell it differently it's a misspelling.
AnastasiaExpert 1 year ago
You obviously didn't read what I wrote very well. His producers and other's used Elliot and Elliott. YOU CARE MORE THAN HE PROBABLY EVER DID.

By far the best
