To be honest this is a disgrace I mean I know the other films there have their points and are good but i am sorry Evaganlion is not a contender for best anime when all the other films are 10 times better. Also the actually proven choice for best anime is Sword of the Stranger in which it is already nominated for best animated film for the oscars in which this just a joke for the fact it only gets one award B.S..
from the seven of the nominated films, how many have you seen?
Summer Days with Coo wasn't screened in L.A. that's why it's not eligible to be nominated in the Oscars, fyi, Coo was a nominee last 2008 for the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, along with Eva:1.0, and Best Animated Film in 2007 Asia Pacific Screen Awards, it's a winner of the Feature Film Category in the Tokyo Anime Award 2008 and Best Animation Film last 2008 Mainichi Film Concours.
It's official, Sword of the Stranger didn't enter the Top 3 in the 81st Oscars.
The top 3 were:
BOLT, KUNG FU PANDA, and WALL-E
I already expected it won't be an official nominee 'cause back in 2006 Paprika didn't also enter the Top 3.
TIP: Don't just rely on Oscars, there're still some awards that gives recognitions for animated films. And don't judge an anime if you haven't seen it. It's like judging a person you don't know.

Also, Sword of the Stranger isn't officially nominated yet in the Oscars, it's only in the Top 14 so far.

Amazing!! I've seen 6 of the nominated films and Summer Days with Coo was the best.
