True story I have a 78 honda 750ss and when I went to the guys house to pic it up it was stored under his pool deck for 7 years and never started. I have worked on a lot of different bikes and never had that happen. I'd say relibilty is 110% and thats a winner in my book.

I have worked on motorcycles for 30 years, and have ridden just about everything out there old and new. My personal bike and my favorite is a 78 750k with 45 k on it ! I love these motorcycles! Honda 750 should be #1 My bike always puts a smile on my face----- Boring? what a tool that guy is.
Boring, That guy is full of it. I will take, speed, smooth, reliable, outstanding performance anytime. This guy is a Harley rider in diguise. In an other video he talks about a bike being an extension of one penis. Give me a break!
The Honda 7504 is the best sounding bike that has ever been made. I had one and the stock exhaust sounded like a high powered sports car. It did not sound like a motorcycle. Try and make a Harley do that. And it was not boring at all where do they get these clowns. He just said he would kill some body to get this bike and then turned around and said it's boring. What the hell. It was'nt boring when he test rode it.
I had four 750's in row - and, still to this day, it is the most reliable and fun bikes around.... I wish I still owned one - awesome when released in the '60's - still has my repect.. loved them.
Honda didn't want the CB 750 to be the fastest or the best looking. They wanted it to outsell everything else. So they designed a road bike not for racers, motorheads, or wannabes but for commuters who wanted the best value for their money.
@gmoore9449 honda wanted to sell their bikes in large quantities yes? but every company wants this. For some reason the CB750 is just one of those very few Breakthroughs that happened in the motorcycling world. Not only was it far more reliable than the British bikes. But it was also far more cheaper to own.
Duckgeezer wrote "the Kawasaki 500 triple did 0-60 in 4 seconds and the Honda wasn't that far behind it." Yes it was - The Kawasaki 500 was much faster but did not hold up as well as the Hondas. The Kawasaki was the fastest stock motorcycle in the 1/4 mile in its day.
I can't deny that is was a great bike - smooth, reliable, never leaked oil - but not much to look at compared to the British bikes. I not sure that it was faster than a triumph trident or a BSA Rocket 3. At the time, I was riding a 68 Bonnie, that I did major work to (Cams, pistons, racing valve train, port & polished head.) I never lost to my friends 750 Honda, and he always complained that I stopped too quick. My bike was much lighter than his and I always would corner faster than him.
I used to beat these old 750's all the time with my kawasaki kh400 triple with dencos. My brothers chambered Suzuki GT 380 blew the honda 750's away also. it was such fun seeing the disbelief in their faces after seeing it was only a 380cc bike . at the end of the road .
@youthinkmer Yeah, the Kawasaki 400 and 500 triple was fast, but was a 2 stroke. It didnt last long, had maitenance troubles, and worst of all a poorly designed frame and suspension set-up that caused "speed wobbles", thus the bike got the nickname "the widowmaker". Not a good comparason on your part...
i've never got to ride a single motorcycle, but this one i'm the most enthusiastic about. i'm curious if theres any ppl here that have had the chance to ride one, and if they also feel this bike is boring.. anyone?
my verdict so far is that this bike is amazing, and that the boringness is just BS
@gerby90 You're right. I own 4 CB750's. A 1973, 2 1978's and a 1982. The 78's are my favorites. I ride my bikes every chance I get, at least once a day. A 1 mile ride often turns into a 20 mile ride. They're fast. They're solid, reliable, and they look really cool. People always approach me to complement, ask me all kinds of questions, say that they have/had/want to get one, or they just stare. The only people bored on a CB750 are boring people.
@gerby90 We've had one in the family since the early 80s, it was my dads. When he died in 82' my uncle acquired it. I remember I was always afraid to ride on it with him because it had the fairing and it looked HUGE to me. My brother bought it from him in the late 90s and has since turned it into a cafe racer. It's all reversible, just bolt on stuff like handlebars and seat. I'm really thinking of buying one too, i've always loved the look of them.
@bnCOD You idiot it was two Brits saying it was dull and one American . All 3 of them are retards . The American IS some dumbshit Los Angeles pussy . Yeah , and the cb750 is a great bike not dull at all . Unless you prefer working on your piece of shit old triumph or Harley while everybody else is out riding . Fuck this show anyway . Honda Cub #1 HAHA ! I get the reasoning but c'mon , It's hardly a motorcycle . Mostly a scooter .
@bnCOD HAHA! I don't have problems with Harleys or Triumphs . just didn't like these dweebs complaining about the CB . You are right though . I've never rode a motorcycle . My first bike I pretend to have had on the road which I still pretend to own isn't a 1973 CB750 . I pretend to ride a old Gs850 now . What do you pretend to ride ?
@HellWolfsSwankyGrave I pretend to ride a 1988 honda XL 250. It's not mine, but the machine is a wonder, everything is original on it... it's well mantined. I don't have a problem with anyone. I belive everbody has a calling to a machine that fits them; I found mine. It's the enduro.
How is this bike only number 3 on this list? The Honda 750 was such a quantum leap ahead of anything of its time by a mile. My uncle has a mint 78 K model and it's still better than many bikes on the road. For the price, in the early 1970's no other motorcycle was even close. Nearly every bike on the road today has some feature it copied from the Honda 750.
its only boring because it was made in japan,,,,, if it was made in america or europe it would be a motorcycle icon till this day.............asian people and their product is never good enough
@FullBloodedHmoob "asian people and their product is never good enough " Then why do they completely dominate the car, motorcycle, and electronics market today?
Well, I guess not. I agree Honda established later than Harley and Ducati or BMW and makes new model quickly but that doesn't mean like US made or European made bikes are totally long lasting engineering or something.
I have a 76' 550F but i'd like to have the 750, i ride a cbr600rr but the 550 feels more special, and there is another issue, every time when i ride the old honda there's one or more people asking if i sell it. I'm 21 years old now i been riding it 5 years now, and my first bike was the 550,a bit heavy but a very good bike. excelent!
So the narrator says the early 1970 CB750s would go from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, I think he is mistaken, for starters my 1980 CB750F, if it was fresh off the factory line (not 30 years old) probably would go 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Hell my dad's van probably would be able to go 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. I can't imagine there was that much innovation between a early 70's cb750 and a 1980 cb750.
The single front disc brake with its single piston floating brake caliper wasn't good enough. For me it fell into turns and took a bit of muscle to ride fast. If you were serious you fitted another front disc brake, better shocks, and a four into one exhaust for more power and ground clearance.
The reliability was already an established Honda virtue. Suddenly there it was in a decent sized bike.
Bought my 82 Supersport when I was sixteen. It's an incredibly beautiful bike and it turns heads wherever I ride it. Ha also whenever I ride it I get a boner so fast my legs go numb.
I am the proud owner of a 1977 CB750K. My first street bike and bone stock original with no rust and 31K miles. Found it almost 2 years ago on craigslist and drove 150 miles to meet the seller. Bought it up for $1200, and about another $1200 later, it is running (and looks) like a new machine. Most important, it is a blast to ride. And it does turn heads. It is a very cool bike that should continue to appreciate going forward. Very hard to find. My boys will inherit it. Ride safely.
I own a year 2k CB750 and can say that, IMHO this bike is amazing. When I bought it, there was a Kawasaki that I could have bought, but the mechanic at the store sealed the deal for me, he said: "The Kawas come back to my shop, but the Honda 750 never comes back." He was largely right, I can do pretty much everything myself (and I'm watching more youtubes to learn more) and I am no mechanic by any stretch. I love this thing, rides rain or shine, super dependable, has plenty of horse to boot.
I had a honda cb 750 when I was 18. I am now 42 and miss this bike all the time. Ive had 13 bikes over the years, and nothing comes close to that cb 750. It is a work of art just to look at. And the sound is the best stock sound I have ever listened to. There will never be another bike like it.......
There is considerable inaccuracy in this commentary ! - the FIRST superbike ? I think not - the Brough Superior S100 - the fabulous 124 mph Vincent Black Shadow - light years ahead of the competition ? the BSA Rocket 3 and the Triumph Trident had much better engine characteristics for fast road riding (they had enormous racing success ) and much better road holding - disc brake - not as good as legend suggests - wooden in feel and hopeless in the wet !
I'd be happy to ride one, I've got a Honda at the moment. Its just the "first superbike" tag that silly when super bikes had been around for so long. Yep it would do over a hundred, but you could buy a Norton International and do that - in 1930!
Sorry to say but at 22 years old and riding this bike is so much fun it should be illegal lol I mean it dose over 120 if I whant it to and Not that I say you should but it can go on light trail rides without botoming out
seriously... only show offs will call it boring... i mean the bike does everything flawlessly and then comes the tag - "boring." So freaking unfair. Like they called pete sampras boring. Oh my god, the people, the people!
both the 916 and the CB750 are great bikes. Fact is, the CB750 started the trend that superbieks follow to this day. Prior to that, it was inline twin's from England (which are nice, BTW)
I own a 750 four K7 and i was at a pub down the coast were all the bikers stop for a beer. I had just stopped for a little leg stretch and brought a beer. I walked out and to my amazement there were about 6 other bikers checking out my little old 1977 Honda Four even though it was parked amongst Harleys, Dukes and $60,000 choppers...Boring Bullshit...
@lyonsy1967 My brother's taken rides on his 750 four with a bunch of guys riding harleys and what not, he said the same thing. They all loved the bike and some remember even owning one.
LOL this bike actualy is a hand full especialy running with my freinds on there GXR 600 but the bike handels corners very well for how old it is and it ceeps up with them till I hit 130
LOL Well No kidding. It came out in 1977. That was way ahead of anything at that time. Harley was putting out the shovelhead at that time so compare it to that.
I think I get the 'dull' statement. It's like playing a video games with all the cheats on. It's a lot of fun and whatnot, but eventually it's just not challenging, or exciting (probably the wrong words, but you get the idea).
The CB 750 should be higher on the list than the 916, which I have owned. It was a more revolutionary bike at the time than the Ducati and more reliable. There also should have been a Kawasaki triple in the top 10!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
omg you chat so much shit, how the hell is a cb750 better then a 916. do you live in a nut house. by the way i think you have not owned or ridden a 916 else you would know what a bike it is. fucking fool.
My first bike was the CB750 Nighthawk. I know, not the same bike, but did have the inline 4. Though I bet the engine didn't change all that much from these 750s.
well, the original design of the nighthawk engine comes from the cb750k0 but there's a long road of technology between it. The nighthawk 750 engine is a DOHC and the 750K0 is a SOHC, nighthawk 750 has hydraulic operated valves etc. A Honda CB750K0(1 2 3 4 5 etc) was a great, undestrucable engine but a nighthawk 750 engine, mate! it's built like a german panzer, undestructable!
negative comments are from people who have never actualy ridden one.
its a great little bike that 40 years on can still be used in modern traffic
I'm restoreing a 1974 now
I think the souless comments in the film are based on its time , but if you compare it against a modernbike it is interesting and quirky enough to have real character.
I get way more looks than I do on a modern harley when I ride it.
cb750's are increasing in price, and parts availability is way better now
I have a 1991 Honda CB750 Nighthawk. It's a wonderful bike, but by today's standards (no pun intended), it's a little long in the tooth. I could easily keep it forever and be happy with it, but I think I'll end up selling it for an Interceptor one day. It may not be the best bike in the world, but it is the most important one, changed the game for everyone else to follow.
The first day I passed somebody with my Interceptor, I looked down at the speedo and it said 110mph. The top speed of the CB750 Nighthawk I had before. Top speed for me anyway. :)
The Interceptor is a great bike IMHO. Plenty of power without being too much.
All I can say is after owning my 69 750 since 1971 it still comes down to the rider.
Maybe the riders of the other bikes you went up against didn't know how or when to shift or missed gears, but very few bikes ever beat me. My son took his mcy test on my bike and he could of had one finger on the handle bars and gone through the cones. Sounds to me like sour grapes. Too bad DOUG I got mine where's yours?????
Yeah, I have one of these bad boys sitting in my garage. I have had maybee 20 bikes in my life so far, I am 74, but this one is the one I really love. I bought it in 1971 from someone who shiovered and was scared stiff of it. It had leass then 1,000 miles on it. The onl;y thing that I changed after a few years was the carbs ,because the original's were cables running to each carb was a bitch to keep tuned. I put in carbs from a 1971 750, that had a lift lever to all carbs.
This bike I was told was one of the 1st 50 made, the cam shaft was signed by the maker. I blew away a 911 porche in 3rd gear. LMAO his lady friend was so pissed that a scuzz ball biker made pretty boy look like shit. Candy Apple Red the same exact bike that the Guggenheim Museum had when they had that motorcycle display.
I have five stock 1969-1972 CB750s plus a spare engine. I wanted the CB750 ever since I got my first motorcycle, a Yamaha AT2, in 1971 but by the time I was old enough and could afford one, Kawasaki Z1 was available so I got that instead but I still wanted a stock CB750. I got lucky in 1991 when I bought a used but completely stock 1972 CB750K2 for $700 from a Honda dealer and been collecting them ever since.
I was looking at a CB on Craigslist for 1k. I mean you can't beat that price, and they're fuckin reliable as hell. Who would pay 30k for a new sporty or roadking? nuts.
Fuck... Im sick of these harley davitards saying there are no vintage jap bikes left!! GO ON CRAIGSLIST!! You see DOZENS of 60s and 70s Hondas all over for resale! And guess what?!?! THEY HAVENT BEEN REBUILT 4+ times!!!
I've got a CB750 K3 Sunrise Orange Metalflake. I love it, it took me from 1970 to 2007 to get my bike and really regret not getting one sooner. Does everything well for a 36 year old motorcycle.
I got a cb750sc nighthawk s 1984. Even tho it's 25 years old, it rides like a monster. Collectors status on it, I pay only 126 bucks for the whole year! Love it!!!
This bike is boring? Imagine you said that to your wife when the first time you met and you said she the most wonderful woman in the world...the bike did everything we ask and never broke down on us, why would we say this bike is boring?
Ive thrashed my K0 for 25 years along side ive run V twins, singles, and sports bikes. I ran H1 500 kwack TZ350 on the road, i run a Cagiva Rapter, GSXR 1000 K6 and Yamaha GTS The KO can handle, trust me just takes a bit of getting used to but big bars modern narrow section runbber and resonable poke give the 40 year old machine the ability to hold its own against modern machines on fast b/A roads. To me its stunning and is always a talking point it must have been out this world in 69
It's dull because he don't ride it like a bike. Get the knee into the ground and pull out of a corner on full rev and you will feel the spirit of a honda(a little bit cheesie, but sincere :) )
What puzzels me is why Honda quit making these bikes. I ride a 1974 model with my buds who have new Harleys, Triumphs, Ducatis, BMWs, etc; AND this older bike is so much more dependable, user friendly AND amazingly; it can still keep up with most of the newer 1300 cc models. The only improvement I would suggest would be ABS front brakes.
A DULL ride? What an excuse for an easy put-down. The Honda 750 is like poetry in motion, with style and grace. It's damn near perfect...with looks, power, performance(including handling and maneuverabilty) and last but not least reliability! It's one hell-uv-a bike! One of the most versatile and lovable bikes ever!
Have you ridden a v twin (Ducati etc or a triple (Laverda or triumph)? Honda's are boring but reliable. My old Kwaka Mach III ate CB750's and was totaly unsociable but mad fun and pretty reliable but very underbraked ( and overpowered). So much more fun! And sorry early CB750's didn't handle that well or have that much go. They did look lovely and sound better than any Jap four since. (Not as choice as a Trident on full song though).
Evidently by the mid-70's Honda engineers were aware of this and the Japanese engineers went back to the drawing board and corrected its shortcomings. The Japanese are the most smart of the Oriental people. Koreans aren't far behind. They're more intelligent than the south Asian(Vietnamese...although they're no slouches when they apply themselves! Witness their perseverence in our schools. They leave the Blacks in the ditch weeds!). Asian superior intellect built the Honda 750. They own it.
i won't curse at you, but apparently you haven't been listening to the news. north korea has exploded a nuclear bomb after having fired several test missles right under obama's nose. would they have done that under bush. no. obama stole that election with his lies, rhetoric and outlaw outfits like acorn.
watch what happens to this country in the next few years. it won't be america anymore. we are about to fall from our no. 1 ranking and will be bankrupt in 4 years due to his policies.
I owned a 71 model for over 10 years & had to sell it to pay for my first childs baby crap, I actually cryied when it went. Many years later I have a Blackbird, in line Honda 4
The reason it's 7.5secs is because thats what it DID when it came out in 1969, the bottom end wasn't to good. - Theres been many different versions since the more resent CB750 for instance does 0-60 in 4 seconds,
i recently discovered a 1970 cb750 rotting away in the backwoods not far from me. Its so rusted and rotted away its beyond repair. :-( But at least i could save a few parts from it to rebuild a cl175 im working on :-)
Nice bike. Unfortunately, bikes have gotten bigger and bigger....too big really. Cost, fuel consumption, weight, insurance all go up as well. The Honda 350 was also a great bike. I love my 250 cc bikes and wouldn't own anything over 350. Unfortunately Honda only makes 1 road bike at 250...the Rebel. The entire industry has failed to recognize the popularity of 250 through 350-size bikes, so they are stuck with sluggish sales of their hogs. No thanks.
They also make the CB250 Nighthawk. It's a wretched little bike, but at least it's exciting to ride....because of the pathetic drum front brake and limp noodle forks. I'm with you on the ever increasing size, a 900lb motorcycle is not much fun in curves or parking lots, but they sell pretty well. I'd take any nice CB750 over most new cruisers myself. Too bad my CB750 had its forks pushed through the headers by a lady in a Mustang. ;(
No, but the current supersports are essentially a further development of the original CB750 formula, albeit with more of a track focus. Dick Mann won at Daytona with a CB750 DESPITE the fact it wasn't intended as a racing bike. A 750F could outaccelerate a new EX500, and with modern tires give it a run on a track, but an EX500 isn't exactly a superbike.
True story I have a 78 honda 750ss and when I went to the guys house to pic it up it was stored under his pool deck for 7 years and never started. I have worked on a lot of different bikes and never had that happen. I'd say relibilty is 110% and thats a winner in my book.

It blew the crappy, oil leaking, British bikes out of the water.
It out performed any standard bike around at the time.

@pyrofella sure but i must say the other japs bikes are great too old kawa Z 750 was on the same level like the honda cb 750
aphasia1972 1 year ago
Honda didn't want the CB 750 to be the fastest or the best looking. They wanted it to outsell everything else. So they designed a road bike not for racers, motorheads, or wannabes but for commuters who wanted the best value for their money.
gmoore9449 1 year ago
@gmoore9449 honda wanted to sell their bikes in large quantities yes? but every company wants this. For some reason the CB750 is just one of those very few Breakthroughs that happened in the motorcycling world. Not only was it far more reliable than the British bikes. But it was also far more cheaper to own.

Duckgeezer wrote "the Kawasaki 500 triple did 0-60 in 4 seconds and the Honda wasn't that far behind it." Yes it was - The Kawasaki 500 was much faster but did not hold up as well as the Hondas. The Kawasaki was the fastest stock motorcycle in the 1/4 mile in its day.
gregskya1 1 year ago

@youthinkmer was the kawa a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?
EpiDemic117 11 months ago
@youthinkmer Yeah, the Kawasaki 400 and 500 triple was fast, but was a 2 stroke. It didnt last long, had maitenance troubles, and worst of all a poorly designed frame and suspension set-up that caused "speed wobbles", thus the bike got the nickname "the widowmaker". Not a good comparason on your part...
calimar28 3 months ago
I had a k2, a blue one.. simply beautiful with a great engine.
But terrible frame and weight displacement.
Before i had a 500 and i sell my 750 to re-buy a 500.
750 weight is 250 kg with oils, tires and fuel.
Honda cb 500 four k2 is the very best of 70s imho.

my verdict so far is that this bike is amazing, and that the boringness is just BS
gerby90 1 year ago
@gerby90 You're right. I own 4 CB750's. A 1973, 2 1978's and a 1982. The 78's are my favorites. I ride my bikes every chance I get, at least once a day. A 1 mile ride often turns into a 20 mile ride. They're fast. They're solid, reliable, and they look really cool. People always approach me to complement, ask me all kinds of questions, say that they have/had/want to get one, or they just stare. The only people bored on a CB750 are boring people.
thelowmax 1 year ago
@gerby90 We've had one in the family since the early 80s, it was my dads. When he died in 82' my uncle acquired it. I remember I was always afraid to ride on it with him because it had the fairing and it looked HUGE to me. My brother bought it from him in the late 90s and has since turned it into a cafe racer. It's all reversible, just bolt on stuff like handlebars and seat. I'm really thinking of buying one too, i've always loved the look of them.

I have a 76' 550F but i'd like to have the 750, i ride a cbr600rr but the 550 feels more special, and there is another issue, every time when i ride the old honda there's one or more people asking if i sell it. I'm 21 years old now i been riding it 5 years now, and my first bike was the 550,a bit heavy but a very good bike. excelent!
pansho550F 1 year ago
So the narrator says the early 1970 CB750s would go from zero to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, I think he is mistaken, for starters my 1980 CB750F, if it was fresh off the factory line (not 30 years old) probably would go 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Hell my dad's van probably would be able to go 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. I can't imagine there was that much innovation between a early 70's cb750 and a 1980 cb750.
pavelow235 1 year ago
The single front disc brake with its single piston floating brake caliper wasn't good enough. For me it fell into turns and took a bit of muscle to ride fast. If you were serious you fitted another front disc brake, better shocks, and a four into one exhaust for more power and ground clearance.
The reliability was already an established Honda virtue. Suddenly there it was in a decent sized bike.

My first bike was the CB750 Nighthawk. I know, not the same bike, but did have the inline 4. Though I bet the engine didn't change all that much from these 750s.
HunterXray 2 years ago
well, the original design of the nighthawk engine comes from the cb750k0 but there's a long road of technology between it.

PalladiumMambonick 2 years ago 2
This bike I was told was one of the 1st 50 made, the cam shaft was signed by the maker. I blew away a 911 porche in 3rd gear.

Really varies. More than many bikes some of these have been taken and modified and crashed, and neglected,
So you have to look at the bike closely, and expect to need new tires, battery, and carb tune up.
Really its 100X cheaper to buy a very nice one than to fix a bad one.

(Not as choice as a Trident on full song though).
dougbm53 2 years ago
Evidently by the mid-70's Honda engineers were aware of this and the Japanese engineers went back to the drawing board and corrected its shortcomings. The Japanese are the most smart of the Oriental people. Koreans aren't far behind. They're more intelligent than the south Asian(Vietnamese...although they're no slouches when they apply themselves! Witness their perseverence in our schools. They leave the Blacks in the ditch weeds!). Asian superior intellect built the Honda 750. They own it.

The reason it's 7.5secs is because thats what it DID when it came out in 1969, the bottom end wasn't to good. - Theres been many different versions since the more resent CB750 for instance does 0-60 in 4 seconds,
(not speedo indicated, TRUE 0-60)

Hi Guys,
I bought a brand new red Honda CB750 K1 in 1970, GREAT BIKE. I think they mean 0 to 60 miles per hour not Klms.
In any case I am still sorry I sold it.
Cheers

Actual figures from 1969 Cycle World test.
0-60 mph (96km/h) = 5.2 sec
Quarter mile 13.4 sec at 100mph (160km/hr)
Top speed 124mph (200km/hr)
By comparison a 1969 Kwawaski 500cc Mach III had the same top speed but a 12.4 sec (but maybe slighty slower) sec quarter mile.

Honestly, The Triples were great for straight ahead speed but would wear you out on the road! The CB750K was the BEST!

The bike is way faster 0-60 than 7.5 seconds... I dont know where they got that number.

When the bike came out in 1969, those were the performance numbers that they arrived at. They 750's were made better and faster as the years went on.

I got a Honda 1974 750k, I set it up for cafe style. I love it. It's Big and mean and takes right off. A little heavy but oh well.
Makes me Proud to see this clip.

Too bad my CB750 had its forks pushed through the headers by a lady in a Mustang. ;(

You guys think a 77honda750F could take any new superbikes (like zzr600,r6,gsxr600, even the 500s)
ShaneRo182 3 years ago
No, but the current supersports are essentially a further development of the original CB750 formula, albeit with more of a track focus. Dick Mann won at Daytona with a CB750 DESPITE the fact it wasn't intended as a racing bike. A 750F could outaccelerate a new EX500, and with modern tires give it a run on a track, but an EX500 isn't exactly a superbike.
