  • @TheSkittleKids: a civic? A civic has gotta be modded to hell just to do 0 to 60 in 20 seconds. Meanwhile, the Corvette Z06 and ZR1 can do 200mph straight from the show room floor.

  • Super

  • @TheSkittleKids with the turbo?

the zr-1 is supercharged not turbo charged.

    there is no turbo.

  • 4 people are Hitler's offsprings. Its Little Hitlers! Grab the bat!

  • 4 people like GTRs and hate corvettes

  • The only time ur honda can beat a vette is if it doesn't know your racing

  • The track is Miller motorsports park in Utah. Hey that 9 second Honda isn't racing a track with corners. It is also not production stock.

  • Comment removed

  • I have the c6. r...

On Real Racing 2 HD for iPad

  • Damn it, I hate the zr1 hood... c6 is better looking.

  • All you guys comparing cars that are way different in terms of specs are funny and tarded. The zr1 has more hp, is way lighter, has a lower center of gravity and I'm guessing it has a better drag coefficient so who wouldn't expect it to win??

  • corvette c6rs!!!! is better!

  • Its like the time when Captain slow brought a Aston Martin GT car vs a road Porsche and lamborghini lol it was funny

  • c6r is hella flush yo. tire tuck or gtfo yoo. vtak

  • When the C6-R is on the track nothing else matters.

  • I see so many corvettes where i live -__- it actually gets old

  • @lemobile2 I read that article. They also tested a Porsche, Ferrari, and Aston Martin in street and track trim. The AM had the widest margin between the street and track versions. I particularly liked how evenly matched they were. True validation that the Vette is indeed both a world-class sports car and a world-class race car.

  • i didn't realize there was a gt-r in the video.

  • we are talking about corvettes not GT-R'S! XD

  • @lemobile2 what about the Nissan GT-R?

  • @lemobile2 Money and Performance.

  • Using Nurburgring times to advertise cars performance is such a marketing scheme it's ridiculous.

That track is such a wildcard. It's too long to completely regulate and monitor for similar conditions - too long to master for most test drivers.

You see a more realistic performance number in laptimes from more moderate length tracks like Laguna Seca or maybe Road Atlanta or Road America.

Case in point - Horst von Saurma ran 7:38 there in a Ferrari, Vette, the GTR, a 911 and a Lexus.

  • @ajlepisto Road America is a great track for comparisons, the strait @ Laguna is too small. well said tho

  • @gtrdude777 It all just depends on what you're trying to compare. I'm just saying, you have to use a track that is capable of being driven the same, over and over. Few people can do that on the 'ring and have the same weather, etc. It's just not a controlled test. Cool to see on video, but doesn't tell us much.

  • @ajlepisto agreed

  • @lemobile2 and the style;)

  • @Marshmallowrex Crx? lol I have rebuilt multiple engines. Fast car? you bet. Clearly you suck at car knowledge and made yourself look stupid good day sir!

  • Crazy that the production Zr1 has more power than the GT2 race vette and I hope youguys saw this dude blast around Nurburgring in his Zr1 dude is the Goat vette driver 7:22 with traffic on the track!

  • @Marshmallowrex Bahaha clearly you have no grasp on car engineering but turbos produce most of the power not the v6. Clearly you don't understand what a 3.8 liter v6 can do after it has two blowers behind it and when it doesn't. Dumb ass? Clearly you got it all wrong.

  • i like the race car more, better noise, more grip, it's lighter. and it's cooler to look at. but still, given the choice to have a highly used barely drivable race car vs the zr1 i'd take the zr1 lol

  • @Marshmallowrex Your gtr needs two turbos dont think to highly of the car. Lets see how much power that v6 without the turbos produces bahahaha. Learn cars before typing bahaha

  • @Jah2070 are you kidding me the 2012 ZR1 and Z06 both destroy the GTR

  • @itchytasty100 2012 zr1 and zo6 isnt out, and the GTR kills the 2011 vetts. i work for gm bud and as much as i hate to say it, your wrong.

  • @bluecocker The GTR doesn't even compete with the baseline corvette. Sorry.

  • @verano29

    I disagree

  • @lemobile2 GTR

  • @lemobile2

    ever hear of ///M?

  • @cdhfootball yup for ///Masterbating

  • to tell u the truth that vid was pretty boring i at least thought they were gonna race or do something

  • @fuckth3h035 The Zr1 is already faster.

  • Too bad Magnussen here crashed at Le Mans, but props to the #73 with Milner and the rest for pulling through and winning GTE-Am!

  • @WayfstrthnU GTE-Pro.

  • @TheValKBawz haha whoops, messed up my categories again. It was so much easier having just one GT2 category before...

  • @WayfstrthnU I agree with you on that. Those fools should allow GT3 cars to enter, rather than splitting up the GT2 category.

  • @WayfstrthnU ...since you referred to the #73, that is.

  • = = more talking than a showdown....i dont mind but i expected a race....

  • @fuckth3h035 Nope the times were set with standard tires and not race slicks. In fact, race slicks would be slower in the semi wet conditions the lap times were set in.

  • Ok, who's the asshole who missed the "like" button?

  • The guy who's jealous!!!!!

  • @MrJaydubb007 Ford fans.

  • @MrJaydubb007 Some Nissan GTR wanker

  • @MrJaydubb007 Most likely eurotrash.

  • @MrJaydubb007 your dad

  • @lemobile2 true, true...the Nissan GTR isn't too bad either for the money, and your average driver...but thats just me..

  • @lemobile2 The vette is a great value for performance. Possibly Rossion Q1 is best competition.

  • imagine a zr1 with the drivetrain of the gtr....maybe thats a bad idea tho....it'd snap all four axles and go no where. haha

  • @dsmdeegen Didn't you hear? He said the ZR1 makes more power than the race car. Perhaps you meant some suspension components?

  • They need to make a street vette that is as wide and flared as the R! XD Someone should make a body kit... bet someone has! XD

  • lets just put it at this, ill take either if ur done with em :)

  • @lemobile2 GT-R ....

  • @lemobile2

The 750HP Super Snake ($84,000) comes close if the GT-R is not enough.

  • @lemobile2 GTRs better for almost the same money

  • @Baller5ajk, But the Nissan GT-R is fugly, the Vette is not! XD

  • @ndyt I think in person the gtr looks great

  • @ndyt the GTR is a unrelaible Piece of trash also. they are going through engien around here like a slut whore goes through panties.

in the real world we race against all kinds of GTRs, and they ALL LOOSE. the only support they have is the over-rating from all the ricer faggots and jap import homo fan boys. 3 GTRs were at the local track here one weekne recentlt, ALL 3 blew up before the day ended. nothign more than a ugly POS waste of metal. typical of a flimsy jap car.

  • @Topfueltrooper, I agree but for your last bit. I think the Miata is a great car if you are looking for something that light weight. Nothing else comes close for the price. Put a Vette motor in a Miata and you have a true monster! XD

  • @Topfueltrooper Agreed. I've never worked on a GTR but as a tech for the last 8 years I have worked on a lot of Nissans. All of them have been pieces of shit. I would never own a Nissan.

  • @ndyt it's fugly on the inside.

  • @geforce5591, no vette owner is going to disagree with that. That is our biggest complaint about the car. But it is more cheap-looking on the inside then ugly.

  • @Baller5ajk the GTR isn't better. The Corvette would beat it around a track. With launch control, the new GTR would beat a Vette to 60 mph but no one races to 60. A Vette has a higer 1/4 mile trap speed and same/faster time. Without launch control (which will be disabled after 4 runs) the Vette would beat the GTR to 60 mph and 1/4 mile. Even the Z06, not just ZR1, would beat a GTR in a straight line without launch control.

  • @TheAmericanAutos

Bullshit. The 2012 GT-R does 11.1 at the 1/4 mile.

  • @Atheismrulez Where did you get this number from? I think the fastest I've seen is 11.2 which is the same as a Corvette ZR1 and still a lower trap speed. This is even with launch control and only the first. According to reviews, launches get slower gradually. The system either heats up or the computer slows down to protect the car. Either way, after 4 launches the system is disabled and the GTR would be left in the dust of a ZR1 or a Z06.

  • @TheAmericanAutos

Almost all the professional reviewers got 11.1 and 11.2.

    Stop bullshitting.

  • @Atheismrulez I've just looked up tests and out of 5 or 6 tests only 1 had 11.1 so almost all got 11.2 not "11.1 and 11.2". I'm putting my bet on 11.2. launch is computer controlled so no human error. more consistent = reliable. It's as quick to 1/4 mile as a ZR1. It has a lower 1/4 mile trap speed than a Z06 or a ZR1. Launch control is disabled after 4 runs and it slows down after the first run. without launch control it's as quick to 60 as a Z06. Do you disagree with any of that?

  • @TheAmericanAutos

"Do you disagree with any of that?"

No. Yes, most launches are using the launch control, so very little in the way of error. The launch control can be enabled again after running the car for only a mile, so it's not a big issue. The trap speed I don't really consider a big issue unless you're racing for 1/2 a mile or a full mile, which not many people do.

Only thing I think they should've improved with the 2012 GT-R is the weight and an option for better tires.

  • @Atheismrulez it is enabled again after a mile and a half. if you're at the drag strip for an event or a tournament, you can't ask them to wait until you go for a little trip for the next run. you're going to lose. racing to a standing mile is common plus if it has a higher trap speed, it means that the GTR only gets a launch advantage which will be outweighed by rolling acceleration, which the Vettes do better (even the Z06 with less power than the GTR), if you're doing a few laps on a track.

  • @TheAmericanAutos

Why the hell would you want to launch in four consecutive times at a drag strip, anyway? That's asking for transmission problems on any car.

And almost no one races to a standing mile, and even there the GT-R is faster than the ZO6. The two only real scenarios you can really pull out of this is racing to the 1/4 mile and the track, which is somewhere most drivers would do better in the GT-R.

  • @Atheismrulez don't measure cars by the GTR standards. The Corvette ZR1, Z06 and I think even the Grand Sport (optional) have launch control and it isn't limited to 4 times. The turbo Cobalt SS had launch control and it wasn't limited to 4 times. Have you heard about the Texas mile? A lot of people take a standing mile as a better standard than 1/4 mile. The Z06 has a higher trap speed in the 1/4 mile than a GTR which means it would beat it to the mile because the gap is very small.

  • @Atheismrulez The Vettes have the PTM so you can beat a GTR with little experience and as you get more experience and become a better driver, you reduce traction control settings, but in the GTR you're always stuck with a dummy-proof system in the GTR.

  • Great video, thanks Jan!

  • I wonder if R&T chose Patrick Long as the porsche driver instead of Bergmeister so him and Magnussen wouldn't get in a fist-fight...

  • how the fuck can you compare a race car to a street car

  • Thanks for posting this, very nice.

  • Listen to them Babies Roar!

  • Racecars are tunable 'lol' the thing was designed for low down force running anyway. it would be kicking out 800+bhp with restrictors removed, the Veyron was an engineering exercise, in everything bar a ruler straight drag race a C6R would spank it every time.

  • Even the I the GT1 C6R would hand the Veyron it's ass chewed up by Corvette teeth.

  • lol funny 240 mph? with that much downforce? what kind of drugs are you doing? I want some. now

  • heh on the autobahn i'd want to be in the GT1 C6R with the restriction removed and geared for say mmmmm, 240mph?

  • @themunster ROFL .... have you ever looked up VAYRON? look up at the cost it took that car to get developed so it could GET to that speed.

  • zr1 will always be the faster than the c6r no matter what

  • @supercrazycorvette Depends on the scenario. On a long stretch of highway, the ZR1 will be faster. On a race track the C6R will be faster. And lets not forget the GT1 version of the C6R which was much faster than the current GT2 car.

  • @k6k6k6Darkie true but the zr1 is the fastest production car ever

  • @supercrazycorvette It's the fastest production Corvette, not fastest production car ever.

  • wtf before i see a glorious corvette i have to put up with a gay toyota commercial

  • @lemobile2 Except the Nissan GTR.

  • @sodazman The Datsun is nothing more than a over-rated homo-faggot mobile. that only wins in ricer-homos dreams.

  • @Topfueltrooper LOL that makes absolutely no sense but it made me laugh.

  • @sodazman dont bring the gtr up... for god sakes its an AWD while having superior suspension and weight distribution.... if the zr1 had that it would kill the gtr quite easily

  • @TheHm3 When Chevy can develop a good 4WD system then we'll see. I think the Corvette already has very good suspension and weight distribution. It weighs hundred of kgs less than the GTR and has more power to boot.

The fact that the GTR can beat supercars 3 times its price is testament to the R&D prowess of Nissan.

  • @sodazman i dont see how the zr1 then handles harder than the GTR?.... explain

  • @TheHm3 The ZR1 pulls more lateral Gs than the GTR on the skidpan. It's no slouch in the handling department for sure.

  • @sodazman but why does pro drivers easily handle the gtr better than the zr1? it doesnt make sense... the 2012 gtr only has 510 hp and its doing 7:24 in nurburgring.... wet condition.... i really dont get it is it because that the GTR is AWD and drivers can step on the throttle fully during a turn?? why cant the zr1 manage a 7:22 in nurburgring? i really do not get it

  • @TheHm3 The GTR is an easier car to drive because it's got more electronic assistance. The 4WD system is one of the very best in the world right now. The difference between the ZR1 and GTR is that the GTR doesn't waste as much energy. There's no lag in the gearchange and there's no wheelspin and slipping. So even though it doesn't have as much power it doesn't waste as much either. All that adds up on a long course like the Nurburgring.

  • @sodazman makes sense....

  • @sodazman that must be why the GTR is easily beaten by Zr1 in a short track such as Leguna Seca....the zr1 wins by a big number actually. in leguna seca zr1 is about 4 seconds faster than gtr. the zr1 easily does about 1:35.8 while the GTR needs 1:39 i wonder how they would be in road america....

  • @TheHm3 Yeah that's right. That's why I think Nurburgring times don't tell the complete story.

  • @sodazman But what do you mean by "it doesn't waste as much energy". Do you mean at longer times drivers get tired of the messy oversteering of the Zr1 and the GTR is easier to handle so drivers can drive it more legitimate in longer times without being tired? Please, explain further. And yes, GTR is much more advanced in assistance than the Zr1. In Zr1 driver has to do all the work.

  • @TheHm3 No it means that the GTR doesn't waste power like the ZR1 because it doesn't slide around/spin its wheels as much. The ZR1 has a superior power to weight ratio but the GTR uses power more efficiently to compensate for that.

  • @sodazman ahh makes sense

  • @sodazman What are your thoughts on the expected Corvette C7 in 2012. It's expected to be 5.5 liter v8 at 440 horsepower. How do you expect it to perform?

  • @sodazman Also just to make sure, how you say the Zr1 wastes power you mean that the throttle has to be light on the zr1 while you can step on it in GTR. Right?

  • @TheHm3 I don't think there will be much of a difference with the C7 compared to older gen versions in terms of straight line performance but apparently the suspension setup will be better. With regards to the ZR1, you need to modulate the throttle carefully to avoid sliding and wheelspin. The GTR does most of that work for you. You still need skill to drive the GTR but not nearly as much.

  • @sodazman So do you think the C7 will be able to perform better in the Nurburgring?

  • It's hard to tell, we'll just have to see when it's released.

  • @sodazman Sorry but I'd choose the ZR1 just for the fact that it actually takes mastery to drive well. Even the racing version of the GTR is rwd and uses a V8. Not to mention all the compromises in tire wear/life and ride quality that Nissan sacrificed in order to make such a heavy car handle well.

  • @k6k6k6Darkie I think the ZR1 will be more entertaining to drive. I've driven the GTR and while it's very fast it's not the most exciting car to drive.

The Nissan chief engineer said that the GTR needs to be heavy to optimize grip levels but I'm not sure about that. The Super GT versions have RWD and V8 engines due to the official regulations. Years before it used to have turbo setups.

  • Gotta love ZR1, nothing in japan can top it, and smokes just about everything europe has to offer.

  • imagine a zr1 supercharged engine in the c6.r :D

  • @lemobile2 The Pontiac G8 was the best deal for the money:comfort:power ratio.

But the corvette is GM and you know they make epic sports cars.

  • @lemobile2 Nissan GT-R

  • what gt car was the fastest around the track?

  • @n9athan probably the c6r

  • S-Weeet

  • Corvette Racing FTW!

  • Heyy an actual comparison! Sweet!
