@dgates77 It's drop c (you could play the same way in drop d), I'm not sure on the chords, but I'm learning from watching. I think it's a lot of power chords with accents in the higher strings, The power chords are easier since it's in a drop tuning you just bar the top three strings

Drop c tuning (you can play it in drop D). It seems like it's based off the power chords on the low string (which is nice in drop tuning) with some accents and slight variations/accents to the notes. I can't figure out where his fingers are when he first goes into the chorus where he slides from first to third fret on what seems like the fourth string

I didn't really think he was struggling at all, that is his normal awesome raspy voice. It just sounds different without electric guitars and amps. I saw the song live a couple weeks ago and it was really good.

i don't know a lot of disciple songs and i'm not a 14 year old girl in love with married singers (lol), but i do feel the need to defend this. you can say what you want but these lyrics are SO clever. it's not surfacy and predictable like so many Christian songs (unfortunately) tend to be. it has substance and truth. love it. also good musically--one of my favorites to hear on the radio right now--from any genre.
