probably the one who has this album's score would know that he mistook some notes but it feels somehow greater to me... noone will be better than him. no doubt
This guy's way of playing is far ahead, technically and stylistically, than Fripp's. He plays absolutely adventurous pieces, like Zappa's, not as Fripp's.
To me there are three kinds of jazz musicians. Those who play their instruments (most) those who are played by their instruments (a shocking number) and those very few who breathe life into their instruments. I would say that Deyens is one of those. Like Pat Matheney he's a guitar player who uses his instrument to project his emotion. 5 stars! 10!
sorry guys, Roland is amazing, but if you want seriously to talk about the foundation of modern music, it is more probably the BLUES ... bu who cares? there are two kinds of music only: good music and bad music ... and this is good!!! ;-)
Thank you for your brilliant arrangement and performance and for your talent!!! God bless you and your creativity!!! Your friends Olga & Vladimir Krylov.

im 15 and im learning classical guitar in a conservatory my teacher learned with him, and it shows she can play music out of thin air no sheets no nothing amazing...
I've often wondered what the die-hard classical guitar community thinks pf Dyens. He is far from traditional, but still has an attitude of utmost respect and love for the instrument. That, and he positively owns just about everybody else.
When he walks into a room, the fragrance of cigars just fills the space. Saw him at the Rantucci a few years back, gave a master lesson... he's got a great sense of humour with students, even if it comes across as a little dry. I loaned him a pencil in the class, I'll never forget it!! He told me I needed to relax and throw away my capo. ;)
