  • I saw Rick Derringer open up for Kiss at the LA Forum in 1979.

  • Heard this song for the first time when it blasted through the speakers at a huge, outdoor, nightime party I was at as a teen in '74....was smokin alot of weed, like most in those days, and I thought the song was called "Teenage Polar Bear".....my friends laughed like hell about that.....

  • @porcupineinteruptus That's pretty funny. I had a friend who thought Walk This Way was "Horse's Play". Yours was a lot funnier!

  • @porcupineinteruptus Weed will do that kind of shit to you. Teenage Polar Bear, who would have wrote a song about some 14 year old Polar Bear? In Montrose's Bad Motor Scooter where it says "there's a red bridge that arcs the bay" I use to sing (straight and sober no less) it "there's a rat race and I'm to blame".

  • this song rocks!!!

I have 'Teenage Love Affair - Rick Derringer' on an album 'The 70's Box'

  • rick is truly one of the greatest with an incredible career.. Latest albums are way cool.. thanks for riocking the world brother..

  • Get "Derringer Live" for a great version of this and many other songs!

  • I miss the time when boys looked pretty, but still liked to fuck girls.

    Thank you, AIDS...For nothing.

  • Androgyny rock, lol!

  • I saw him in a small concert hall sing all his songs. Great stuff. Rockin!!!

  • What the Hell is Rick Derringer wearing? He looks like a rock n roll Slim Goodbody!

  • @fiercelyme The funny thing is in other clips, the arm pits have been cut out and seamed. It was the '70's. Pretty much anything went.

  • Look Out!

  • Damn shame I can't find any footage of this one from Rick's killer '77 band with Vinnie Appice, Kenny Aronson and an incredible guitarist who's name eludes me. If anyone knows of any footage of this lineup key me in.

  • You would be thinking of Danny Johnson. Was that band not amazing? I saw them open for Foghat and by the time Derringer was done with the crowd, everybody was worn out. Then after Danny left a guy name Mark Chapman joined up. TRUE STORY. I saw Derringer open for Led Zep and they kicked ten kinds of ass. I'll say it, Led Zep was totally out played and out performed by Derringer that day. It was awesome. But yes, you're right, that band was crazy good with the original lineup.

  • WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome!!!

    Nuff said.

  • PELASE I LOVE this song CAN ANYBODY SEND ME THE TABS

  • I can send you the tabs from all the credit card bills I owe.........

  • This was on Don Kirschner's "Rock Concert" TV program. Too bad we don't have anything like that today!

  • @rickyon

Everybody was on Kirschner's Rock Concert.

My favorite show as a kid.

Now we have to settle for the horrific Jimmy Kimmell Concert Series.

  • Wouldn't it be awesome if someone had the balls and brilliant business sense to put shows like this and Midnight Special and all the other great television concerts from back in the day on TV now? I would be in heaven. I think they are releasing the Midnight special programs on DVD!

  • @rickyon

There was also a show called "The Gray Whistle Test".

Probably the best concert tv show ever: Rory Gallagher, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and other biggies.

  • @jwandhistools

    "The Old Gray Whistle Test"

  • Can someone please put up " Just another Punk"??? One of Rick's best!

  • Rick using a Gibson Explorer I believe..

  • That's a custom built guitar in the Explorer shape. If you notice it's got a Les Paul style headstock. The Explorers either came with a "hockey stick" or a "reverse v" shape for their headstock shapes. I've got to dig up my old Guitar Player with Rick on the cover and get the details of this guitar.

  • Great reply KR0GG...thanks for the info! Have a good one!

  • 1:07 1:08 Joe Perry in the crowd?

  • would it be accurate to say that Rick Derringer essentially invented the essence of the "Guitar Hero" as far as Style, Class , talent, Image, Hair, and versatility?

  • I think he was probably the first to be able to do it all. Awesome player, great performer, solid producer, excellent songwriter, etc. Plus he had/has showmanship. Yeah, I think you're pretty accurate. He may have not been "the first" but I think he raised the bar so high

  • wow i really wish rock was still like that, Ricky was and still is one of the all time greats.........................

  • Now you'd get banned for singing about a "nubile thing about 15"

  • I like every song on this LP - 73's All American Boy - Rick's 1st solo LP. Just taught Cheap Tequilla to a guitar student. Love Jump, Jump, Jump. Uncomplicated. It's Raining. Teenage Queen. Slide on over Slinky.

  • Q: Who's a badder badass than Rick Derringer?

A: It was a trick question. There is no badder of a badass than Ricky D! The guy is still touring and it better today than ever. A guitar players guitar player and a great rocker.

  • What he said! Saw Rick at the Blue Wall in '77 and again at the Channel in Boston in '89 (?). Both times he blew the roof off the joint!
