  • I found general Skarr:D

  • Quark was probably my favourite character of DS9. I think Shimerman is being very modest here. DS9 would have been much worse without him.

  • Quark is the best! I love DS9

  • How wonderful! His dream came true -- or should I say, he MADE his dream come true!

  • I think the entire cast should be the biggest star trek fans :)

  • Armin Shimerman actually does know all 285 rules of acquisition

  • Is it bad that when I listen to Him I picture Andrew Ryan?

  • Ferengis represent carpet baggers and yankee traders of American history.

  • @dinnerandashow Not exactly. They just represent Capitalists in general. Interesting that your mind went to Yankee Traders.

  • @ironicjustice Actually, they do represent what dunnerandashow said: if I'm not mistaken it was Riker, in an early TNG episode, who described Ferengi as the worst side of captalism and used the term Yankee Traders...

  • It funny find that he is a fan boy too. I really wanted to know if he ever hated having to do years or make-up I just liked doing Buffy.

  • quark made deep space nine without him it wouldnt have been so good

  • Quark was mοre handsome from him :p

  • A man chooses, a slave obeys

  • Thanks for coming to VULKON IN Maryland. Unfortunately you were so much like Quark that we had a bad case of the giggles.

  • Good shit.

  • It always bothered me that Quark was shoe-horned into EVERY episode. Must have been in the contract. I mean, he was the bartender not the engineer.

  • My god his ears are even bigger than a ferengi

  • Really, what's so great about Armin and the character Quark was taking a completely stereotyped, comic relief alien race and giving them a humanity. DS9 really did what no other Trek did in not making it "ooh, space monsters" and made it personal and political. Such an awesome ensemble cast, and Mr. Shimerman was such a central unifying actor to it all.

  • awsome interview. armin is a great actor.. loved every thing he was in..

  • Mr ZImmerman came to a con in maryland because someone backed out. We were really happy to get him but he had never done a con. We all giggled alot becuase there is so much of Zimmerman in quark.

  • Dr. Nefarious, lol. This guy does great voice work. Very versatile voice actor. He could be right up there with Steven Blum, Clancy Brown and Mark Hamill.

  • Armin is great. He's the Salarian Councilor on Mass Effect, and he keeps being the best.

  • He played the best, most despicable ever on televistion!

  • quark is such a great character

  • I miss Star Trek

  • @milo1ss I agree. just finished watching all class -> tng -> ds9 by now. the next some weeks ill be occupied with voyager, but then its over :( once more

  • He was voiced Dr. Nefarious in the Ratchet and Clank games

  • This guy rules on so many levels.

  • Sooo Rick B. strung Armin along for weeks over the part? Classy. x_x

  • sooo... you wanted to be a Ferrengi when you grow up? :)

  • He did a fine job with Quark.

    I miss Star Trek :[

  • As a body of work Star Trek has some good bits when the limits are pushed and some bad bits where, frankly they took the money and run. The Ferengi are one of the good bits on a par with the doctor from voyager. This guys performances in DS9, even when the script is week, are some of the best in Star Trek.

  • @tina6581 The Doctor had ok moments, but toward the end, he got so WHINY and annoying with him "blah blah rights" bulshit. I especially recall the Season 6 ep Virtuoso to be particularly painful to watch. Combine that with the fact that he got so much more screentime than everyone but 7 and Janeway, and he got really old really fast.

Quark, and almost everything about DS9, was amazing though.

  • @LtTaco you forgot to say "Would you kindly?"

  • Oddly, the Ferengi and Andrew Ryan have similar ideals

  • Rule of acquisition #1: Once you have their money ... never give it back!

  • Come to Quark's~

    Quark's is fun~

    Come right now~

    Don't walk!

    RUN!

  • @fury1031 Hahahahaha

    Worf "YOU!!!"

  • ds9 4eva

  • By far the best actor on DS9. Miss you Quark!

  • @OpalSeaBabe Who was second-best actor?

  • @terminat1 I'd say the second-best was Garak. Such a fantastic show, but such shabby actors.

  • @OpalSeaBabe who and why? Just asking :) (am not trolling)

  • @OpalSeaBabe I agree. Quark was far more entertaining than any of those others.

  • although i will say DS9 crew was quite bad to be honest, apart from quark the hot terry farrell jadzia dax and of course the legend worf, but the rest werent tht gd imo odo was OK found his character a bit boring though

  • at first all i ever kinda liked was next gen and voyager, voyager because tht was like the time for me when i started gettin into star trek voyager was on and then next gen because the crew was good you know worf data that smoking hot deanna troi pure milf and of course voyager well... i liked the doctor and neelix sometimes but arrrhhh seven of nine in that nice outfit i loved it but i caught DS9 on bout a year ago, n saw quark in an episode n i realised what id been missing out on

  • Check out those lobes!

  • Quark rocks all the way!

  • @LtTaco "I'm Quark, and I'm here to ask you a question: is not a man entitled to the latinum he makes?

No, says Commander Sisko, it belongs to the war effort

No, says Dr Bashir, it belongs to those who cant afford health care of their own.

No, says Constable Odo, it belongs to the people you scammed it from.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...

    Deep Space Nine."

  • I watched Armin Shimerman and he always seemed to play very hollow and condesending characters. Now seeing these interviews I have a greater respect for him and his talent.

  • Quark and for that matter Garak are the most interesting characters in DS9. This is because they not bound to the altruistic conscience most of the other characters have to abide by. I really enjoy the episodes when they are featured.

  • I enjoyed that show so much and felt that there were still more episodes that could have been filmed. Armin was outstanding as Quark. Helped take the show to such a deeper level. I think one of the best "Quark" episodes was when he and several other Ferengi had to rescue his mother "Moogie" from the Cardasians. Well done episode.

  • Armin Shimerman was a normal guy but "A Ferengi without profit is no Ferengi at all" rule of acquistion 18 so he had to "Whisper your way to success" rule 168 and he got the part of Quark! MAJOR respect to you my friend I really liked your acting!!!!!!! you made DS9 great!

  • his ears seem sooo...well...tiny

  • Quark is my absolute favorite character, largely thanks to Armin Shimerman's fabulous acting. When watching the show, I sometimes forget that Quark and the other Ferengi aren't real people!

  • @albinoshira Hahaha I was explaining the same thing to a friend of mine the other day. Sometimes when I watch Star Trek I feel like I'm just observing events that have actually happened.

  • @InformationPollution Haha, that's funny. Yes, we could think of Star Trek as a historical document or something of that sort! Many of the actors are very convincing in my opinion, particularly Quark + the Ferengi and Worf.

  • Well... he certainly has the lobes for it.

  • Armin Shimerman is the quintessential Ferengi. He single handedly transformed the Ferengi from a D-List, goof-ball, phony race into a realistic, geniune, believable race. Whenever I go back and watch a Deep Spcae Nine episode now Quark steals every scene he's in. And, the episodes that he plays a major role in seem to be the best ones.

  • its RAANU!!

  • Is a Ferengi not entitled to the sweat on his brow?

  • I'm watching DS9 again as well. This is probably the 4th time...Quark is one of my favorite characters, right beside Weyoun and General Martok.

  • It's General Skarr!

  • Wow total opposite to watching the robert beltram interview

  • @101101101777

    THAT is SOOO true.

  • Armin is such a down-to-Earth, humble person...always refreshing to find someone else like that. :)

  • The scenes between Quark and Odo are always priceless, great chemistry!!

  • YOU AINT GOT THE LOBES!

  • The relationship between Quark and Odo was one of the best parts of the entire show.

  • OLOL ! Principal Snyder!

  • quark was the best character in deep space nine :) my personal favorite :D

  • Armen Shimerman was also in God Of War II as the voice of Translator 2.

  • If there's going to be a BioShock movie, they should put Armin to play Andrew Ryan himself...

  • seems like a very nice guy, hes awesome as quark

  • he was in sc2

  • "Armin chooses! A slaves obeys! OBEY!" - Andrew Ryan

  • @LtTaco He did a superb job in Bioshock, he sounds nothing like Andrew Ryan, so to create such a totally different voice, and give it such emotion and power is deeply impressive.

  • ears still the same

  • Hell yes.

  • It's Principle Snyder!

  • I'm watching through Deep Space Nine right now se3epQuark hahahahahha

hahahahaah hahahahaah hahahahaha haahhahaha haahha ahahhaah

    hahaha

  • Having meet both Armin and William S., I'd much rather spend an afternoon with Armin any day of the week.

  • Hahaha agreed, I replayed the first Bioshock just to listen the the whole Andrew Ryan beautiful voice parts...

  • you are the best you inspire me ..

    i been watching you.

even since i accendentaly watch star trek.. you are a character that complete my sets of being ..

and i thank you for that .. you are very vital to my existence...

    i am wade america..

    347 944 9844

  • Hooray for Quark! X3

  • he took of most of the make up, but why is he still wearing the ears? oh wait a sec ..... forgat I asked.

  • ANDREW RYAN OMFG

  • @LtTaco me too

  • A MAN MAKES CHOICES A SLAVE OBEYS!

  • its Andrew Ryan

  • LAWREEEEEEENNNCCEEEE!!!

  • @BowserTheSecond u made me laughh so hard lol

  • Andrew Ryan FTW! Best voice in a videogame ever :O!

  • Hell yes! If Armin were to narrate documentaries and the opening of movies in his Andrew Ryan voice, Morgan Freeman would quit voicing!

  • I'm watching through Deep Space Nine right now and every single time Quark is in a scene he just steals it. He's absolutely damn amazing as Quark.

  • @mastgrr I agree. The episodes centered around Quark are some of my favorite in the series.

  • @mastgrr did you finish all seven seasons?

  • @mastgrr i love the episodes just about quark

  • When the going gets though Quark becomes a hero, just like Armin Shimerman. Quark/Armin saved the DS9 in the 3rd season with The House of Quark and in the 4th season with Little Green Men.

  • Great character, great actor. Armin's modesty and enthusiasm really speak for him.

  • wasnt he in buffy the vampire also?

  • He also had a guest appearance as Kramer's caddy in "Seinfeld" during the filming of DS9.

  • I'd have to say his best role was definitely Andrew Ryan, from Bioshock :,D

  • Quark- You are hereby informed by Gelec-Ti that your indebtedness to His Shadows Empire has reached a critical point. Re-payment is no longer an option. I therefore inform you that pursuant to His Shadow's Devine Laws you are to be executed and your body retrieved , subsequently to be surrendered to the protein bank.

  • @kaibybrunis I worship His Divine Shadow. Long may He Reign.

  • Always loved this guy as Principal Snyder in Buffy! And he was one of the Nox in Stargate SG1 ! Go Armin!!!!

  • awesome actor!

  • Hey, didnt Armin play Dr.Nefarious in the Ratchet & Clank series?

  • He was also Andrew Ryan in Bioshock.

  • Stories like this make me happy! Not only was this guy perfect as Quark, but knowing how much he wanted the role and how much he loved Star Trek is just...awesome. :)

  • lol, i wonder if he an odo are friends IRL :P

  • I think he and Rene are since they had so many scenes together.

  • Quark is one of the best characters, and Shimerman one of the finest actors, on DS9.

So glad he was part of the ensemble!

  • good

  • great

  • good

  • very helpful

  • those tips is good to us.

  • when an actor starts the way, there'r all difficulties, but we should keep moving on,,,,

  • good

  • GOOD LUCK TO ALL,

    AND THX 4 ET!

  • it is best! ET is very good!

  • he is awesome

  • great

  • i love exploretalent.

  • A great actor. I love DS9.

  • None else could have made Quark 'Quark' but Armin Shimerman! I started liking Star Trek BECAUSE of Quark, even after watching TNG and Voyager. Quark is perfect! =)

    <3
