How could you say he was probably responsible just for the 4 homicides when the book states that Northcott would bring a Mexican boy home every few weeks?! There's no way he just let them go when he was done with them. I think he's probably responsible for at least 20 murders. And from what I've read so far in the book (I'm on Chapter 8), it sounds like he would best be described as a sexual sadist and serial killer, not a pedophile, although he was certainly that too.
@Hanakimi16 Yes! Sanford was very brave...he survived all of that abuse from his uncle, and saw unspeakable acts...yet he became a very good man, great husband and father, just a good guy all around. Such a survivor, may he rest in peace.
Probably one of the most horrific cases of child abuse and murder I have read. I just watched the movie with my husband, and was so upset by it I needed to learn more about the evil person who was capable of inflicting pain and then murdering innocent boys, how terrified the boy's must have been I don't like it when children are hurt.
I think he enjoyed the killing just as much as he enjoyed torturing those poor kids.I dont think it had anything to do with people getting in his way. Killing was the ultimate act of control.
it was a good movie tho. I'm recommending it to all my friends. This is a part of our history that was lost. Something i never learned about until just four months ago. I'd never even heard about it. I think we should put it in the history classes at the schools.

If he really did run such a racket, I wonder if his mother was involved with it. It would explain why she cooperated.
