JUSTICE ITS THE FIRST STEP, JUSTICE FOR ALL OF THE 3 AMERICAS.
@Santisantiago That's real, my spirit brother...I'm Indian (Choctaw, Cherokee, Seminole), African, Irish, and Chinese. I used to reject certain parts of my heritage, but we are all brothers and sisters of the Earth. "All life is sacred, treat all beings with respect."- Native American Commandment
@Santisantiago My Irish family did the same. I am Seminole and Irish, I've always known of the tragic history here in Florida. I loved hearing all his messages and the love that came from his heart. Thank you for sharing. <3
I was at the Indian Ctr when my mom called me to tell me he'd passed. He stayed with us when he was traveling; I was just a little kid. He was funny, smart, angry, played and sang sitting on the edge of the kitchen table. Probably the only time I ever sat still was when he was singing or telling a story. That's how I learned I could channel my anger through music and words. Thanks, Uncle Floyd.
I met him 2004 Balboa Park my life has been more attentive to shall we say "things" He was right peoples of the earth Ho Ka He! I was blessed with his Autograph on 2 pictures and my prized flute, where when I play can only see his words Ho Ka He. We will miss you Elder Red Crow.

May he live always in our own courage to love tenaciously all who live on our Great Mother with us. May his life and deeds be for the continuing good of all our relations in which no divisions exist internal or external. May we speak our truth so it lands as softly as his words. May we leave indelible marks on the lives of our fellow ones

Floyd "Red Crow" Westerman died today. The actor and musician was a leading figure in the American Indian Movement for 40 years. A very great interview with him on several topics...
I just learned from this tribute of his death. I had just watched: "Indigenous Native American Prophecy (Elders Speak part 1)part 1 of 5 from "madrazorray" and I am grateful for his willingness to share, educate & care his your brothers & sisters. So many are sharing their knowledge & showing LOVE for one another~ Respectfully, A quote from John Trudell at a Medicine Conference a few yrs. back, "but, after more than 500 yrs~~WE ARE STILL HERE"~~ Mr. Saginaw Grant is very present also.
have you seen his cameo in a Darma and Greg episode? I wonder if there's youtubes of it?? His strategic use of stereotypes was brilliant in its subtlety AND in its directness. How did he do that???
I've known Red Crow nearly all of my life. I called him Uncle whenever he came back to Minnesota. I miss him very much, but I do know that I will sit with him again are the "Council Fire". He was a very wonderful man. I love him dearly and am blessed to have had him in my life. -white eagle woman of the crane clan - white earth nation, mn
I only knew Floyd through my brother, who knew him, and from TV and movies, where he projected great honor. Seeing Floyd come on the screen was always a lift. We are all fortunate that he chose and was able to be so broadly available to the larger culture. I will miss seeing him in the only way I knew him.
MY GRANDPA! i'll never forget him! i miss him alredy. its too bad i didnt get to see him during the funeral in sisseton! just journey on, my Grandpa!!!!!
I'll never forget Floyd, or the times we got to sing together. Arizona, Oklahoma and South Dakota over several years. The laughter we shared...the fights we fought...how he would bring children to the stage to help sing the BIA Song.
I'm glad to be back on the net after several months, but I'm incredibly sad that the first email I received was on Floyd's passing...4 months late it turns out.
Red Crow you will be missed but not forgotten you will be in our hearts forever...donadagohv unalii ale udoi( Translation: Until we meet again my friend and brother)Unole Galisgia
you are now with GRANDFATHER and in loving arms, rest in peace from a fellow native skin belonging to the CONFEDERATED TRIBES OF GRAND RONDE in OREGON.
He was the truest to his people and land, he stood for what is right and for the people he represented and advanced by bringing attention to the problems that are still with all Indian people. God blessed him and no he has him with him. Goodbye Red Crow.
You were true to your country and your people. Much respect to our brothers and sisters of the AIM from Belfast Ireland. Like you said Red Crow "our countries struggles are the same" Freedom to our Nations. "They may kill the revolutionary but they will never kill the revolution."
Des gens ont pleuré,et pleurent encore, sur toute la planete...et surement la Terre elle meme a pleuré la disparition d'un de ses plus grand "guardien"...
Thanks for what you've done for Earth and humanity Floyd...see you...
One should only be sad when a man dies without expressing the glory of his people and Creator. Red Crow died after a wonderful life, and though it is our loss, it is heaven's gain. Best wishes to Floyd.
In the words of Bobby Sands and the blanket men.. Tiocfaidh ar la.... Red crow..our day will come. May you rest with all your people who have gone before you..i also at this time remember Leonard Peltier may he soon receive the freedom and justice he and your people deserve..
thank you floyd for leading our peoples and not leading urself...true example of what anishinabe leadership is about...you gave me my first harmonica and again thank you...you will see ur frens darwin, rosie, and special admirer, lena of chachabaning..RIP floyd..all my relatives...
OMG this is the man that sang a song that he made tributed to Johnny Cash this year. I have seened him in movies too. His words are powerful as I have heard him speak on other videos. I say he was a great man.
Ohh How Sad...He was such a great role model...I remember when I was six years old I was singing at a contest at Oglala, South Dakota at the Loneman School and that was the first time I had seen and met floyd...He was singing also...To me it meant so much...I always wanted to ask him if he ever remembered me but I never had the chance.
Truly this man walked in beauty, may he now soar in beauty with the eagles. One day Mother Earth will no longer suffer and we will walk together. I look forward to that day when I can look into my Uncle Floyd's eyes once again.
On behalf of the Oyate tribe I would like to thank you uncle. Thanks for being a voice of our poeple, our culture, and our way of life. Rest in Peace.
Mr Floyd Red Crow Westerman, will be missed by people all over the world. A great actor, activist, musician but most of all a great man has left mother Earth to be with his loved ones in the spirit world.
thank you for posting this. Uncle Floyd was a great man. I can say I would not be who i am, if he was not who he is! He man it easy for all of us to walk the good red road!
Raven, I also live in Olympia. Please join the Mother Earth Tour 2008 that will come through Olympia in August 2008 and meet Dennis Banks. We will miss you Floyd and thank you for all you gave to Human Kind. Toby
Red Crow you sure will be missed by many, not just by your nation, but many nations... I Love you Red Crow<3

"Can't you see I'm going home".
Respectfully,
J.D. Nash

One should only be sad when a man dies without expressing the glory of his people and Creator. Red Crow died after a wonderful life, and though it is our loss, it is heaven's gain. Best wishes to Floyd.

The Red Crow flies with eagles now and is with Grandfather and Grandmother. We will
see him in the wind, the earth song, and in the trees and the rain. A human being
was bettered just by knowing him and all he gave to human kind. The earth will be
less without him here and although we know we will see each other again, we cry
for the walk we take without him. I love you Floyd, and Rosie and the dogs and send
all our love to your family. All My Relations. Toby & Honey
