@TheCjf1977 Itțs about child abuse, and how wrong it is. Just think of what that does to wreck A child of two or three They know and feel much more than We will give them credit for And all they want in life from you Is love and nothing more When painful eyes begin to cringe When you walk through the door Remember children are a gift of love Sent from the Lord Read the lyrics first, dont be ignorant.
I'm Christian, I went through a rough patch with God thanks to Metal like Slayer and stuff, and I've been looking for a Christian Slayer ever since I've dropped ALL my non-Christian Metal... He sounds just like Tom Araya :' ) Thankyou Jesus.
@GuitarHeroCrysis are you kidding me? He sounds NOTHING like Araya whatsoever. And getting rid of your non-Christian metal was stupid. Just because you don't agree with the lyrics doesn't mean you're going to "hell" if you listen to it... and if you believe that a loving "father" would send their child to hell for something like that - then you have more of a problem than I originally thought.
But yeah... if you MUST have something Christian that sounds like Araya or Slayer. Then grab the first Living Sacrifice album from 1991 on R.E.X. Records.
@GuitarHeroCrysis--The music was only a tool to get you distracted...getting rid of it, if you needed to, to get your walk with Christ back to where it should be was a small price to pay. As far as why Tourniquet on their first and and a couple later albums have an early Slayer feel, check out who produced the albums. I believe it was the same guy and the same studio in Garden Grove.
@WthyrPendraeg lol I think I've played that game before, a long time ago...it was pretty boring I remember but the name skeezicks does seem familiar. :D thanks
This is the first time I hear this group, I'd never heard about it before... No wonder, I'm french and people there just can't bear good music like this... This group sounds very nice, it just pisses me off to see that it's so unknown in this country and so many others !!
"Skeezix was a character in the comic strip "Gasoline Alley." He started as a baby and aged through the life of the strip. Aging of characters was an unusual feature of 'Gasoline Alley.' "
This song uses the board game "Uncle Wiggily Game" which was also childrens stories. Skeezicks was a character in it, Tourniquet changed his name to Skeezixs, sounds cooler I guess. Great song anyway, and interesting lyrics. :D
@BigBozSicenunow Can you explain what you mean by this? Tourniquet is recognized as one of the most technical and creative thrash AND speed metal bands ever.
Actually I have heard nothing but good reviews of them. Ted Kirkpatrick has been praised as one of the best technical drummers in the thrash metal scene, and the band has been noted as unique and influential to other musicians. They never became popular because they weren't afraid to share their views and opinions.
Anyone who thinks they can fault the originality or technical abilities of this band has no real understanding of music whatsoever.
@BigBozSicenunow Then you haven't been a part of the scene. I've never read a bad review about this band. They should be part of the big five based on talent and songwriting alone.
@FinTex9876: So that's what it is? I've always wondered whether it's anything Tourniquet borrowed, because that harmony guitar passage is incredibly touching.
This is one of the best days I've ever had, finding so many songs from the eighties. These guys were awesome for their time, they could stand toe to toe with any death/thrash band out there!
@yelton7 Tourniquet is using a character called Skeezix from a board game called "Uncle Wiggly" as a metaphor for adult figures who are always demoralizing the self-confidence of a child. Tourniquet is heavy into metaphor and allegory - and they are most certainly Christian.
Is this just a blank item down to the 10:00 mark? I thought the track was supposed to be 10 minutes on the dot. I'm definitely going to check this record out. But I promised Wake/Lift...
By far the best song and best album they did

It is apparant that Tourniquet was writing about something remarkably deep. Does ANYBODY have any IDEA what they were writing about?

What makes this Christian? I'm not in judgement, but I don't understand what point is made with this song. Maybe the writers may have a point?

Can anyone tell me what they mean when they keep referring to space number 109? Is it Psalm 109, maybe? Thanks
slpkntmggt06 2 years ago
They're referring to space 109 on the Uncle Wiggly board game, where the Skeezix lives.
AlexRGravlin 2 years ago
Haha, I haven't heard this in years, but I can still recite the kid's speech.
Silly childhood game - Uncle Wiggly. I cower in abject horror, approaching space number 109 - home of the gaunt and haggard shell of the Skeezix.
Awesome song.

In the game it's spelled Skeezicks.
