I love his opinion on this... and I would agree with it, in an ideal world, but we don't live there. :( There will always be someone out there making guns, and there will always be people to defend yourself against. What happens if the US turns into a nazi-esque police state (seems like it's on its way there right now)? Tyranny loves its citizens to be gunless and defenseless. I've had guns pointed at me twice when I was a teenager. Once by a bank robber and once by a neighborhood kid who grabbed his Dad's gun and thought it would be funny to point it at me. Both times I was scared that I would be shot. Luckily I wasn't. and now as an adult I have been exposed to guns, had training in their proper use and enjoy using them for target shooting. Guns are not the problem the people who use them in anger towards their fellow human beings are.

Guns are one of the things that make this world dangerous and cause so many deaths. Unfortunately, it is in the Constitution that everyone has the right to bare arms.

I agree with Billie. There are much better ways to solve things than with guns. And people who buy a gun and just kill someone because they can is just stupid. I don't care how upset you are. There is a better way to sort out your problems, than to solve it with a gun loaded with bullets. People say that they need it for protection, but, we wouldn't need them if the threat wasn't there. I am terrified of guns too. It's just too easy to get hurt with one. I think people should say NO to guns...

Never lived in a house with a gun. I've made it 50 years w/o one so I think everyone else can. Kind of funny that Walmart sells guns but not Green Day.

yeah i agree with him. But i agree with many of you saying it is not the gun, it is the people with the gun. But it is an extremely powerful thing, and i personally do not own, and never will own one. I am terrified of them just because they kill so easily. I think that guns are too powerful for me. They are intimidating.

I don't own a gun, but I'm not against guns. I'm just not comfortable handling them and they're just not my thing. I think I can see where he's coming from when he talks about being robbed at gun point. That can really affect a person. I live in the south where hunting is a tradition passed down from generation to generation (I don't like to hunt) and like with anything, people need to be taught responsibility. Just like driving a car, it can be just as deadly as a gun too.

You have a good point. Anything can be dangerous. It's not the gun its self that's dangerous. It's the way people use them .I personally enjoy guns. Although i AM against hunting. I just find that in a weird way, the gun makes me feel safe. I only use it when i go up to the range. That is the only time other than self defence i think it should be used. So i think it all is just a personal opinion thing.

to any attacks by criminals who have purchased a black market gun...in that situation, who would be left standing? guns are fine if you know how and when to use them....much like drugs...it is not the object...but the person using it...and lets not forget...you can kill someone with a baseball bat, a rock, or just about anything ....guns get a bad rep...I dont even own one...but this is common sense...however..this is America! have your opinion! thats what makes its cool

I have been mugged twice at gunpoint....and I have always loved green day, but I cant agree with this statement simply because the war on drugs" didnt work. People still get illegal drugs and use them....take guns away from law biding citizens and you are left with a black market of gun manufacturers and salesmen (just like drugs) ...now a bad guy with ill intent will use a gun weather its illegal or not....while those trying to obey the law will not be able to get a gun...leaving them open

I think the problem with taking guns is kind of what you said. All that you're doing is opening it up for the black market to get them, and then people who need to defend themselves can't. And then you have a problem.

I honestly feel the same way wit him, I've never been mugged but no one needs guns or any other weapon. The sight of a gun scares me, I'm always afraid if a see a store selling them, or someone having a gun mounted on a wall.

no one thinks that getting rid of guns would solve ALL our problems, but it would have stopped things like the Tech shooting, the columbine massacre, and a thousand other murders.
and frankly, if you were ever held at gunpoint, you would probably have similar feelings.

billie, you are right, and you're my hero. guns are the dumbest things humans have invented. maybe if we put more time and money into peace, instead of making as many different types of weapons as we can, we'd be better off.

have you ever been mugged at gunpoint? my guess would prolly be no. and if you have, wouldn't you be terrified of guns and other shit like that? my guess would be yes. Seeing all this killing and murdering in the US and the world makes me terrified of guns and stuff. I'm with Billie at this point! If everyone started focusing on things that are more important like our economy or world hunger or peace, everything would be sooo much better off..
