  • straight squats are more intense..... the turn just gives time to relax...

  • We do more than enough heavily loaded 'straight' squats. The squat turns by there very nature (bodyweight resistance) are not to be considered a intense exercise.

  • why turn?

  • Turning activates some of the smaller musculature of the support side hip.

  • Because this is a body weight only exercise that is primarily used to strengthen and lengthen soft tissue it is ok. We have never had any problems with this aggravating knee issues.

  • the demonstrator's heel rises and his toes are bowed out. also, it looks like his knees cross his toe line. is this okay in certain drills/exercises?
