We do more than enough heavily loaded 'straight' squats. The squat turns by there very nature (bodyweight resistance) are not to be considered a intense exercise.
Because this is a body weight only exercise that is primarily used to strengthen and lengthen soft tissue it is ok. We have never had any problems with this aggravating knee issues.
straight squats are more intense..... the turn just gives time to relax...

Turning activates some of the smaller musculature of the support side hip.

the demonstrator's heel rises and his toes are bowed out. also, it looks like his knees cross his toe line. is this okay in certain drills/exercises?
